I guess it just really depends on the driver, the day, the conditions and of course the car. I have little tussles in my VR and been both surprised at its pace on some occasions and disappointed on others. Most disappointing was a modern Mondeo TDCI.. Was rather surprised at its pace up to the speed limit (or there abouts :-) ). Most positive was taking a sharp left corner onto a A road whilst being shadowed by a MK5 Golf GTI. I neatly took the corner and opened the taps and watched my rear view mirror to see the Golf under steer round the corner and gradually drop back despite him clearly trying to keep up :-)

This. Many times this.

sold 1995 Corrado 1.8Turbo ( 31k miles).......£4750
Jim replied to seafar99's topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
Very nice! Good luck with the sale. -
I've no idea to be honest! :) The only way to find out is to ask. I should imagine you'd be able to shift 50 pairs either through a group buy on here, or on eBay.

Just walked back to my Corrado, parked up just off old Spon Street in Coventry and was amazed to see another one parked just across the road from it. Looked like a 2.0 16v (but I didn't go snooping around) on some aftermarket alloys - think it was an N reg? Anyone on here? :) A real nice change to see another Corrado around!

As it turns out, dogger was shown the door after making questionable comments about a member on the forum! Sorry to hear it didn't work out with the carbon work Matt - you obviously put a lot of effort into helping us keep our cars on the road, thanks to your sterling work on the headlight switches!

The guy is being naughty then and ignoring messages as I can see from his profile that he was last active on the forum today.. I've dropped him a PM.

Sadly there's very little we can do. It's the risk you take when you undertake a transaction on a forum such as this. If you let us know his username we can try and apply a little pressure and, if necessary, block his account so he can't rip anyone else off in future.

I've dealt with them and no complaints. Had my 18" Octavia wheels done and they did a very good job :) Getting hold of them can be a pain so you're pretty much best just heading up there and dropping the wheels in with them. Then again I'm no perfectionist or car detailer - so someone fussier than me might have not been happy with the finish on the wheels.

Still remember my test drive of that car back when it still had the 12V engine - the TechTonics exhaust note was absolutely superb :)

Any mileage in contacting VW Classic Parts in Germany and mentioning there is a fairly significant demand for them here in the UK? They might be able to get another production run done.

I may have to speak to VR6 about a comedy username change for EJ Taylor! ;)
-
How long since you last had it running?

I've got a set of these sitting in my garage still! :) Think I'll hang onto them if they're going for this kind of money.. they can only go up in value!
-
Cool you got your old car back again Mic! Nice one! :)
-
You did a swap or some kind of p/x with BILLCOR then? :)
-
I had a pair of new / unused ones which I sold on here for £100 a few weeks ago. I think I underpriced them to be honest. Given the rarity I'd just pay the £80 - it doesn't seem that unreasonable to be honest.

Hey - good to hear you're getting the valver back on the road David! Presumably it fired right up without any problems? :)
-
Blimey - that was a quick turn around Mic! :(

How was the Tesla? I'm desperate to drive one and see what they're like!

I've been to a few of these now.. and really want to go to more, including motorsport schools and stuff. Just a question of finding the time and the money! :) At these days I've now driven: Ferrari 355 Lamborghini Murcielago Aston Martin DBS Audi R8 Ariel Atom Porsche 911 Turbo (997) My thoughts on all of them? The Audi R8 is awesome - feels like a more grown up, refined, faster Corrado.. I can't put my finger on it. As you've driven one I'm sure you'd agree. It's really good fun. The Murcielago felt huge, and was heavy, and intimidating - and putting your foot down was a real event! Lots of noise and lots of speed. I can't imagine driving one on the road. The Aston DBS was a crushing disappointment. It looked amazing but actually driving it felt like an upmarket Mondeo.. again I can't put my finger on it, but I hated it. Not the car for me. Ferrari 355 - wasn't a huge fan. I suspect a more modern Ferrari would be a more exciting experience! 911 Turbo - it felt like a surgical implement. Quiet, precise, no fuss, and admittedly not a lot of soul. You just didn't realise how quickly you were going and how quickly you got there. Quite enjoyable but I admit it did take the edge off me wanting one somewhat. Ariel Atom - the most entertaining thing I've ever driven. I'd take it over all of the above cars if I wanted a driving experience, rather than something to show off with or at least be a little more practical. It was terrifyingly fast - but the more you pushed on the more it rewarded you. I want to drive one again as soon as I can.. LOVED it. Oh - also should have added, last year out in the states I had the chance to spend a day and a bit in a Dodge Challenger with the Hemi engine.. it was brilliant fun. I didn't really open it up much for fear of running into the American police but it made a great noise and actually was a heck of a lot nicer quality (interior wise) than I expected it to be. I'm back out there again in a few weeks time and this time trying out a Ford Mustang.. I will report back ;)

What size wheels do you have? Drop mr.lobitos on here a PM for a good price on tyres :)
-
Agreed. For 5k you should pretty much be able to pick up a superb example.. just take your time as there's a lot of tired old Corrado's on the road now!
-
I can't speak for these but think I'm pretty much done with Toyo as a brand. They seem to wear quickly, and find their wet weather behavior a million miles off that of the RainSports.

Very nice! Things like this reassure me that prices are slowly, surely, going to go in the right direction :)
