VW legal department hitting out at fan websites again

Wow... I didn't see that coming! :) -
VW legal department hitting out at fan websites again
Jim replied to Tempest's topic in General Car Chat
Have to admit my enthusiasm for Volkswagen has been steadily in decline for some years, thanks in no small part to nonsense like this. I'll be interested to see how this plays out. Them continuing to produce sh@t like this isn't helping either: http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/volkswagen-taigun-suv-unveiled/264207 Sigh. -
I think as soon as you SORN it, it's SORN. So you need to do it on the final day you want to be able to use the car up until.

What I don't understand is why they care about people scanning in brochures. They're material produced for cars they neither make nor sell any more, and stand to gain (or lose) nothing from people distributing copies of the brochures. Me thinks their legal department has bugger all else to do, so seem to think it's fair game going after the enthusiasts who help keep their old cars on the road. Idiots. -
Good thinking on the MK3 Golf headlights - you may be able to retrofit them into Corrado headlight cases - they'll look excellent and pretty close to the Nothelle ones. Glad to see a bit of a rarity being saved here - nice work :)

I suppose I'd want to know exactly how much work will be involved in getting it road worthy again. £2,000 does seem a good price... how about buying it, cleaning it up, and flogging it straight back on as surely a clean MK2 with that sort of work done on it is worth more than what he's asking? :)

Drop 16VG60 a message mate - he used to sell tooth belt pulley kits so could probably help you out / point you in the right direction!

I'd probably have another one to put away for a rainy day if the prices were similar! :) -
Monthly Evening Corrado Meet (Midlands / Warwickshire)
Jim replied to Wendy's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Great little meet up last night - the perfect antidote to the horrid, drizzly weather outside! The food was very good too I thought. Looking forward to next month already :) Good to meet you and your other half too, Parkervr6 :) -
This is the most pathetic thing I've ever read. The guy doesn't even have the common decency to spare you 30 seconds of his time, to contact you and tell you what's going on after you (in good faith) did your bit and posted out the headlights to him in the first place and have been exceptionally patient. What a complete pillock.

Monthly Evening Corrado Meet (Midlands / Warwickshire)
Jim replied to Wendy's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
I'm planning on eating there - had a look at their menu and it looks ok :) (No choice - not enough time to get out of work, get to the lockup and get there as well as eating food at home!) -
Sure that wasn't a pleasant experience... hindsight would tell you to jam on the handbrake and try use some engine braking but as we all know in reality when you get that split second "OH SH!T" moment, common sense will go out of the window and it's every man for himself! Hope the car wasn't too bashed up.

With so many folks coming I guess I'm going to have to dig out the Corrado then rather than coming over in my daily! -
Great to see younger folks still interested in and excited about the Corrado! Welcome to the forum.
-
I know about the membership number - it was me who dug it out after about 45 minutes of sleuthing on the old Yahoo group ;) Our records didn't go far back enough to get your membership number from our system so we were lucky that the eGroup was still around!
-
I have the same track pump as you - Specialized Airtool - works brilliantly! :)
-
Great to have you back, Ron. I still remember your VR being stolen - it was a particularly bitter pill to swallow for me, as an enthusiast, given the rarity of the colour - it must have been a total nightmare for you. Look forward to putting a face to a name at a meet eventually.

Presumably no update?

Indeed he doesn't. Worth a punt though! :) GLWS - looks like a nice honest example. -

Couldn't tempt you to part with the OE oil / volt gauges could I mate? :) -
Always amazes me how far away Corrado's come up :) Look forward to seeing some pictures! :)
-
Welcome aboard! :) Thankfully the 1.8 16v is not a particularly complicated or high maintenance engine - just service it regularly and keep on top of general maintenance - they're supremely reliable!
-
Very cool :) 16" Borbet C's just look perfect on the Corrado and I like the very subtle custom leather interior - neat :) Yellow aux gauges are a nice touch too.

Certainly not through lack of trying Wendy! -
It was always deathmatch that made the ID games so special. Doom II will forever be inexorably linked with secondary school where a bunch of us would meet up at lunch times in one of the classrooms and play it over the LAN. Problem was it used to flood the network and make it run slow for everyone and the IT tech knew it was us... as soon as he got complaints about slow networking you'd see him come running out of his office across the school yard and start heading up the stairs to where we were playing, to try and catch us out.. by which time of course we'd rebooted back into Windows ;) And then at college it was Quake... used to play that online with friends too and not just over the LAN. I can't imagine how many hours I lost to that game! The difference was that the tecchies there used to be into Quake and would join our games from time to time... :)
