nothing we didn't really know about electric cars
Jim replied to davidwort's topic in General Car Chat
I quite like the thought of them having some kind of induction loop / wireless charging system. You park your car in a space and it starts to charge.. and it somehow, wirelessly, gets the ID for your car so it knows how to bill you back. I dunno... at the end of the day a solution will eventually have to be found as oil is going to run out one day. And it's scary to think that, for many of us (and assuming we live to ripe old ages) it will be in our lifetimes. -

It really depends on what everyone settles on as the future transport option. If it is electric then I don't see that there is any other alternative than to have charging points everywhere! :) That and they're insistent that the technology will improve in terms of the speed of charging, the range and so forth... so limited range will become less of an issue. -

Everyone says the same sort of thing - the logistics of putting in infrastructure for petrol cars must have been similarly daunting back before the automobile became mainstream. I don't see why electric charging points at home and work wouldn't become "the norm" in the future - you park up, swipe a card or something so it knows who to charge.. and away you go. -
Hey Charley - great to hear that you're back :) Was only just talking with Eric the other day and we were trying to work out if it was 6 or 12 months you'd be away... hope all is well and look forward to catching up at a meet of some kind either over the coming months or into next year. At least the temperature has dropped right off so you'll be getting lots of lovely cool air to feed the beast :)

Monthly Evening Corrado Meet (Midlands / Warwickshire)
Jim replied to Wendy's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Yep - count me in for this one Wendy :) Thanks for organising it! -
Don't be put off - the Speedmaster wears smaller than it's size would have you believe. I have ridiculously skinny nerd wrists and am able to carry mine off pretty successfully without it looking silly!

Welcome to the forum :) Plenty seem to come up for sale north of the border so keep your eyes peeled. -

I believe the article says that's basically due to the fact that a lot of our power stations are coal fired.. I still think if we could get more power from renewable energy, I'd be quite content zipping to work and back in an electric car. They're starting to make some great progress there. -
Have you checked the timing?

heater exchange box foam replacement and flap greasing?!
Jim replied to bristolbaron's topic in Interior
There are two elements to this... * The foam gaskets which seal various bits of the heaterbox where it connects to the pipework, etc * The foam covering on the flaps inside the heaterbox The majority of the foam gaskets are still available from Volkswagen though I have no idea on the prices I'm afraid... the foam covering on the flaps is more problematic. When we did the heatermatrix on 2cc's car, the foam covering on the flaps in his heaterbox were toast... so we elected to clean what was left off completely and then bought some heat reflective matting from B&Q and cut to size. It can't be too thick as it won't seal / close properly so the sheets need to be mega thin. You also need to use something suitable to bond them onto the metal - we used copydex which has apparently held and doesn't vent horrendous fumes into the cabin. Hope that's of some use :) -
Awesome :) The Lupo was a great little car - the Fox that replaced it was a terrible replacement!

http://www.stealthracing.co.uk Worth getting the chains and clutch done as Steve says at the same time but, if you're on a budget, absolutely not essential.

I never thought about the potential health issues that this could be causing.. I will give them some renewed hassle I think. Cheers.

I just checked their website and can see that they're a member of RICS - maybe it's time for a letter!

Any need for the 'Meet local slags' advert?
Jim replied to Hotgolf's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Just got the local slags advert.. definitely not reflective of my browsing habits, especially at work. Not good at all :| Why the feck are they pushing such adverts? -
Random question #88.. I've got a lock-up garage which, between my dad and I, we've rented from a local estate agent for over 20 years. We've had to call them in once in that whole time to fix a problem. However I've been trying to get them to come out now for about 4 months to fix a serious flooding issue (drain runs down the back of the garage wall and seems to be blocked - floods the floor whenever it rains) and a problem with the door (spring has gone on one side) and they simply will not do anything - I've called at least 6 times, been into the shop once, and emailed and they simply never call back. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of problem? Is there an ombudsmen I can call? I'm at my whits end with the useless feckers.

Can't say I've seen that advert! -
You will undoubtedly make more from breaking it sadly :(

Does look like a nice clean car but again with all these low mileage, high price cars, things such as bushes etc will all age and as usual there's no information on any of that sort of work being done so don't presume you'll buy this at over £4,000 and enjoy trouble free motoring for years.

Yans really is as good a Corrado you'll find for the money - really worth looking at!
