  1. He did it :) Brilliant!
  2. Apparently you need to check the underside of them with a fine tooth comb for rust.. they used incredibly thin metal in the floorpan, etc - and I'm not sure if it's just not adequately sealed / protected but they rust like a swine. So make sure they check any car out THOROUGHLY for it!
  3. I think Jeroen Dik's car was 16VG60 or some sort of G60 derivative.. Is it this fairly famous one? http://www.eurotuner.com/featuredvehicles/eurp_1012_1992_vw_corrado_slc/viewall.html
  4. I do normally always say "Stick with genuine VW leads.." - but you can't go too far wrong with DubPower leads for the money :) http://dubpower.co.uk/HT%20leads.HTM £35 for their standard 7mm VR6 leads.
  5. He still has 40,000ft to go and rate of ascent has slowed right down... :|
  6. Shame Charlie - it looks stunning on its current wheels!
  7. Mate - I'm well aware of the sacrifices made for us by previous generations. I lost relatives in the war (who I've researched extensively to find out more about) and my dad was in the armed forces, so know what it's like to have family on the front line. Those men died for us to have the freedom we have today. I enjoy my freedom. I pay my taxes, I stay out of trouble with the law (never even had points on my license), and like to consider myself a moral, honest and decent person. If that makes me selfish in your eyes then I'm not sure what to say... I'm sorry that I don't meet your high standards. If you want social revolution, you go grab your pitchfork and get on the street - I fully respect your views and your entitlement to them, but I don't agree with them. Is that so hard to understand?
  8. I just have to look at virtually any other country and think we don't really have it that bad. Yes, there are other countries that are better than ours to live in. You only have to look at rampant gun crime or limited social care in the USA (I can tell you it was a shock on my first trip to San Francisco last month to see so many homeless people on the street), unemployment in places like Greece and Spain, etc etc - and you think our government is corrupt? Look how much it took to oust Silvio Berlusconi in Italy - he was as crooked as a witches nose. Honestly whilst there is a lot that is a real shame about this country, I think fundamentally it's pretty good. And if at any time I don't like it enough, I'll just pack up and emigrate. The grass is always greener on the other side, etc etc.
  9. Yeah - as has been said, get soaking those threads in penetrating spray now as if they've not been touched in a while, they are most likely not going to want to move! :)
  10. I'd always stick original unless I had absolutely no intentions of ever selling the car or basically didn't care about any future resale value. To do a proper respray needs to be right back to bare metal, engine out, etc etc - otherwise there will always be areas that have been missed where you can see the car had a colour change!
  11. Jack your car up and stick your head in the wheel arch and look for the height adjustment rings on the struts... that's the quickest way to tell! Height adjustable suspension will basically have rings and a portion of the strut will be threaded on the outside so you can move the rings up and down to adjust the ride height. If you don't see these, your car is not height adjustable!
  12. Sounds like it was an easy sale then Kev - no wonder really! I really hope you buy something utterly ridiculous and left field... keep us updated ;)
  13. That does sound like a loose connection somewhere. I guess the very first step would be checking the connections to the battery are properly tightened up and not loose!
  14. I'm sure there's not many guys out thinking about selling their Corrado's but their other half is not letting them do it! :)
  15. Yep! I know exactly how you feel. It's only the knowledge that my car is barely worth selling as Corrado values are so poop that is making me hang onto it.
  16. Quite. Tax dodging is one of many things that got the greeks into their current problem.. everyone should pay their dues!
  17. You need to stop making such assumptions. If you knew the work that Wendy does then you'd realise she knows a considerable amount about the subject of finance!
  18. It's a difficult one. In principle I believe with the conservative approach here - labour got us into the mess by overspending and I don't believe spending even more is going to get us out of it. I think societally we need to re-adjust our approach to money, and consumerism in general as clearly it doesn't work the way it is. Tightening our belts and paying off our debts is the best way. However it's easy to say that whilst you still have a job, and aren't the one feeling the pinch. It is hard to see people suffering on low salaries, or losing their jobs entirely. I earn a good wage, I live by myself and I live 5 minutes from work yet I'm astonished at how quickly my money runs out each month. I can't imagine how tough it must be for low income families, with kids, and the parents having to commute long distances to their jobs - it must be a very difficult financial juggling act. To be honest though whilst I'm resentful at the government for this situation, I do remain most resentful at the financial services. I know you can easily side with the banks and say that they offered loans to people who were irresponsible, etc etc - but ultimately they took a great big dump on our economy for their own benefit. The banking system is what needs the biggest overhaul but we're held to ransom by them.. the governments are all too afraid to touch them. It's a ridiculous situation.
  19. Lovely! Looks fantastic! Welcome to the forum :)
  20. We all have to start somewhere :) Always good to put a face to a name! Sure we could aim for something out that way for future meets... at least Tripadvisor can help us not make any mistakes in terms of places to go for food and drink! On the subject of places to eat may I humbly suggest this is on our agenda one month as well.... Italian restaurant only over in Solihull: http://www.dacorrado.co.uk/ Yes. It's called Da Corrado!!
  21. Maybe it's just me but I would quite seriously consider getting rid of my Corrado tomorrow if I thought it was actually worth selling - but with values as they are, there's no point!
