But the performance of the VR6 is pretty decent and that's 190BHP. Yes I'd say it needs a slug more torque and in a different place to where it currently delivers it.. My mates Leon Cupra is remapped to 300BHP and it's bloody ridiculous! That level of power, out of the box, on what is essentially meant to be a small city car is insanity though!

I was just reading with some interest and surprise that the "hot" version of the baby Audi A1, imaginatively titled the S1, has been spotted out testing and is rumoured to be running a scarcely believable 280BHP and will be equipped with quattro. I sort of have mixed feelings about it. I'm all for a bit of fun, cars getting quicker, and I do love the idea of hot hatches... but seriously, 280BHP in an Audi A1? Really? Does it not seem ridiculous to anyone else? Or am I on my own here.

Regarding bypassing the charger, there is a very in-depth and interesting way of doing it mentioned here! http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5894

Really? ;)

Great idea.. except that will result in an MOT failure.
-
I suspect you might have a leaking injector or injectors - which causes the strong smell of fuel and misfiring from cold, as the engine is essentially flooded with fuel.
-
I think any reputable mileage corrector will expect to see documented evidence of the cars mileage / history and a satisfactory explanation of why you're changing the mileage. If you've got old service reciepts, MOT's, etc you should be fine. An amusing example though on one website I read though was resetting the clocks to 000000 after having a new engine fitted... so er, what about the wear and tear to all the rest of the components? Like they don't count or something?!

There's a fair few threads about stem seal replacement on here.. worth a search if only to get ideas on how long it might take, etc.
-
I believe there are mileage correction companies out there who would do this!

I noticed another photo of the same Corrado on the 16" Speedlines from a meet this weekend... Looks awesome!

Worth mentioning that the injection system on a 2.0 16v is KE-Jetronic, a variant of K-Jetronic. Might help if you can find yourself a KE-Jetronic diagnostics manual and you can start some fault finding on it based on the procedures in there?

Who are these ****ers, and how do they get by in normal society? I hope you nail every last penny out of him, assuming he's even insured - which, by the sounds of his behaviour, he probably wasn't. Do the police seem to be on your side with this? Good luck with it all!

Pics! :)

Looks very good mate. I'll be interested to know how you get on and, if you don't mind me asking, get some ideas on prices. My VR needs some TLC on the paint and whilst I've no doubting his abilities, getting paint done at Greg Howell's was reeeeallly expensive...
-
Truthfully it sounds like you're quite spectacularly out of your depth. I'd take some time out and start doing a LOT of reading before you go anywhere near this sort of work!

You've never heard of Redline oils? Seriously?!
-
Yeah - a chap on here ordered a set a while back. I'll find his thread and update this one when I do... he got them in silver no problem. Ah actually he got 16's which I thought looked really good. But still available in something that wasn't white :) http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?41662-djmac56-s-Golf-n-Corrado-16-quot-Speedlines-delivered! Skip on to page 6 to see them on the car.

Need a new what? Metering head? Injector lines? Engine? Being a little more descriptive wouldn't hurt!
-
Oh right... :) Still looked like a nice car as well so.. either would have been a good purchase :)
-
Just went to do my shopping and came out to start loading up the car. A chap walks over and says "Nice car.. are you thinking of selling?" - he then proceeds to say he's looking for something for his son who's 21.. I point out that it's a group 18 so probably not a good idea! :) But we continued to chat about old VW's for a bit before he tootled off. First chuftie I've had in about 4 years!
-
You bought C5 OEM then. That was an absolute no brainer!
-
Yeah.. you really do need to get into some old school tuning to get anything out of the 16v. Flowing, porting, polishing, cams, lightening, balancing.. there are no shortcuts. KR cams are the quickest / easiest bang for buck mod but anything else is time consuming and fairly expensive.
-
There are not many air filter / induction kit options for the 2.0 16v because of the metering head. Stroeve Motorsport did or used to do one, but to be honest I'd look to make your gains elsewhere.

Saw a dark blue, I presume 16v, turn off Kenilworth high street last night at about 8pm? Had a personalised plate and was on some very retro style chunky deep dish alloys....?
