  1. They do last well though...
  2. The standard VW system is superb though - sounds lovely. Just the price is enough to make you feel sick.. :(
  3. Hi mate.. no, this is a different thing and coming from the wrong side to be the clutch. The release bearing does indeed chirrup and just lightly putting my food on the clutch shuts it up. This is most definitely from the belts area and, having seen 2cc this evening, he stuck his head down and immediately agreed it was the PAS pump to blame! So that's that! :)
  4. It is a strange state of affairs when you start to consider £150 "reasonable" compared to some other bills you can run into but.. yeah.. I'll keep this thread updated accordingly. Cheers mate :) ---------- Post added at 04:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:28 PM ---------- Actually turns out they're £227+VAT from TPS. Doh. I'll get a second opinion on how the pump feels and then might be in touch Mr H.. :)
  5. Hi mate... actually they're not too toe curling to replace. ECP want £140'ish and Reid reckons they're similar from TPS - so he could just get one in for me. Then beyond some PAS fluid, few replacements bolts and some washers and an hour or two on the floor I should be good to go. Rack on the other hand.. yeah.. not such a pretty picture price wise!! The offer of a known good spare is, again, very kind of you mate. I would have to give you something for that though!! Just trying to decide whether a brand new one would be worth it whilst they're relatively inexpensive :) I will look to get a second opinion somehow but it just didn't seem right to me!
  6. To be totally honest I don't mate - never tried to spin one before. But when I turned it, it just didn't seem right - I don't remember there being any play but remember it feeling like, as I was spinning it, there was a little resistance sometimes and when there was resistance, some kind of slight metallic noise. I assumed it'd just spin freely without any sort of noise or resistance. And regarding coilpack - I'm more than happy to fire some reddies your way if you know what you want for it! Just PM what you think it's worth and your account details! :)
  7. Unfortunately I think it's the PAS pump that's going. Changed the belt today without any problems and worked my way round to the PAS pump. It immediately didn't feel right and as I span it there was intermittent resistance and a slight metallic noise. It's clearly not very well :( There seems to be a good guide here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2332651-HOWTO-Replacing-the-VR6-Power-Steering-Pump&p=70588534 I guess this needs to be in my near future. And sorting out the leak on the radiator. Quite a few nasty bills on this car in a year :(
  8. I think you're going to struggle given what's happened :(

    Headlight refurb

£70 vs £250 to achieve the same results though is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow..

    Headlight refurb

Indeed. And second hand, you never know what you're getting really. At least refurbished, they should be as good as new!

    Headlight refurb

This has come up several times. There is a place in Birmingham, which we came across by way of (I think) an MG forum. Certain models of MG suffered badly from the reflective coating on the headlights failing and becoming dangerous. http://www.dual-metallising.co.uk/ According to the MG forum post, price for refurbishment was £70 per pair of reflectors including the cost of return postage. I get the impression it's not something you can easily do "at home" so it's either pony up for professional refurbishment or buy new reflectors basically!
  12. G60's are getting few and far between these days, especially well looked after ones! Sure you'd find a buyer for the car complete..
  13. I love estate cars.. I miss my old Merc dearly! So handy being able to open the boot and chuck just about anything in there.. so practical. And with some of the great performance estates these days, they can look and go just as well as the saloons too :)
  14. Yeah - it's a Continental. If there was any doubt of it being a crappy pattern part I would have gone to VW!
  15. Picked it up no problems. Pretty impressed with ECP - they didn't have one in stock at 2pm but managed to get one in for me by 4.15pm!! Will get it fitted tomorrow hopefully :)
  16. As I've said before mate, I don't have a TPS account and have no idea on how to get one - otherwise I'd be going to them for all the bits I needed :( But cheers for the confirmation :)
  17. Hi folks.. quick check that this is the right part number for the aux belt on a VR6 without air conditioning? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1995/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/car-drive-belt/?202440405&1&53db0369d7a870538345c4564cb08bc0772bc3d2&DBLT Got this on order from ECP and want to make sure it's the right one before I do the swap tomorrow :) Ta.
  18. Indeed - can't wait to see how this all comes together! :)
  19. That's private. And I'm not alone.. I know Eric pays the same for his lock-ups! Not sure what the cost would be in Cambridge though. Anyway - sorry Karl - not trying to do you out of a purchase!! :)
  20. Ah.. just logistics :( Can you not look into renting a lockup where you are? I pay £20/month for mine and whilst they're not plentiful, I think I could find another if I really wanted one where I live!
  21. Reinforces my point about people who own substantially modified Corrado's losing interest in them.. how come you're (half) thinking of selling up Mic? :(
  22. C5 OEM seems to be a bargain to me. It's in superb condition and a surefire investment if you plan to keep it mostly OE...
