  1. At the end of the day it's an Audi.. it can't be that unreliable. Can it? I always lusted after one of these as well though was put off any of the S cars after hearing about "the S tax" which Audi stick on any of their S badged cars.. the prices for some of the parts for these cars is simply staggering.
  2. It seems (just based on my observations) to be that people who turn their Corrado's into big projects ultimately end up losing interest and selling up / moving on.. probably a lot to be said for sticking with a fairly original car and just making it nice and new again?
  3. Why not just replace the dead 16V engine with a less dead one?
  4. Sorry mate but I think they'll look horrid on a Corrado! :( I'm really glad to hear about these adaptors... I want to go from 4x100 to 5x100 so I can fulfil my dream and run Speedlines on my 16v! :) Apparently they're 20mm so basically space the wheels out to the same depth as they would be on VR6 / widetrack drivetrain anyway.. double win!
  5. I think the Corrado should be renamed the Boomerang.. because of the way people try and get rid of them, and then just can't and have to come back to ownership. Be good to see you on the forums a bit more again Karl!
  6. Welcome to the forum. Where abouts are you based mate? :)
  7. Sorry to hear that.. I bet the Corrado is going to feel ridiculously slow in comparison now! :(
  8. How come Kev.. something happen to the 12v? Or just wanting to try something new?
  9. They are honestly a great drive when they're all sorted.. but as you've found, there are some abused and neglected examples out there. Spend some money on sorting the suspension / drivetrain issues and I'm sure it'll put a smile on your face :)
  10. So um.. what advice are you looking for exactly? :)
  11. Christ... that's a LOT of rust! The PG and KR/9A radiator support crossmembers have different part numbers so quite likely they'll be different :(
  12. Did anyone see this? Watching it now on YouTube (can't see it on iPlayer anywhere) and it's absolutely fantastic. And bonus points for spotting a Corrado too :) (clue, it's in Part 7 of 9). Here's the first bit and all the rest of the sections are uploaded too.. it's an hour and a half long tho! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnHksZ5F-54
  13. Awesome. Great to see this car and chat to you yesterday Tom - amazing piece of work!
  14. Was indeed a nice day out :) The sun did shine but damn it was windy... not sure if I got sunburn or windburn! Great to catch up with everyone again after the painfully long winter hiatus!
  15. That thing is ridiculous!! Can't even comprehend that it would do a quarter mile quicker than a Veyron......!!
  16. The most important question...... did you get there? :)
  17. I think the Supersprint system has been discontinued for the Corrado for a number of years now though so I don't think it's an option :(
  18. Red does work well on the Corrado.. just like the other flat colours (like white).. you just need to make sure all the trim is nice and glossy black and not faded and the paint as polished / non-oxidised as you can make it, otherwise it just makes the car look really tired!!
  19. In a similar position to you.. my red Corrado needs a new exhaust badly and I REALLY want an OE system (which my VR has and I love) but just can't bear the price :|
  20. Welcome aboard :) Always great to get new folks on here from the USA (not that many of you on here.. we're mostly UK based!). Good to hear this car is going to get some TLC. The only thing I'd advise is wide wheels ruin the handling on the Corrado. You ideally want something OE'ish in terms of size and fitment to get the very best out of the car. But I look forward to seeing your progress and some pictures.
  21. Indeed. The VR6 is unique compared to the other models as the "suitcase" and backbox are a single piece rather than seperate sections. It is ridiculous expensive but is a nice quality system - nice subtle sound, and as you would expect, no knocks and bangs!
  22. You mean the plastic mount that the fan clips into and is secured to the radiator cowling by three nuts? Part number is 535 121 209 and should be around £20 from VW! :)
  23. Useful post mate - thanks for that! :)
