Yeah but my point is there are plenty of people out there who want to get (in the case of these roof trims) a piece of trim on the roof, who aren't necessarily too concerned about having genuine original parts and are happy to have something which is a 95% original reproduction piece. They're caught up in this stupid price hiking for 'rare' parts and I think overall it damages the scene for a lot of owners as they're priced out of the market. So... as I say... the sooner affordable alternatives are on the market so that not everyone is caught in the trap of having to pay these prices, the better. If some folks are happy to pay very high prices for original obsolete parts then that's really up to them - I can understand it on mint concourse Corrado examples, definitely. Originality is king in those circumstances!

Just post up your questions here rather than PM'ing people - it means you get the wider knowledge of the whole forum rather than trying to pin one person down to answer them all :) That means they're also then in the 'public domain' for the benefit of everyone else.

The sooner these reproductions get done the better, so people aren't getting screwed on stupid pieces like this.

Sorry - mod tools were being stupid. If someone new makes a post it needs manually approving. You tick a box and hit approve. But if they edit the post prior to you approving it, you go through the process as normal but it doesn't actually get approved. You have to go into a separate section of the site to approve it.

Never expected you to come back Nigel - welcome. In terms of G60 specific servicing (i.e. G-Laders) well John Mitchell is still in business on the south coast and still very well liked for his knowledge in that area so I'd be looking at him myself if I was to buy a G60 again. Alternatively there's these guys (http://www.onlychargeddubs.co.uk) though don't know if anyone has much experience with them or not? For general servicing and maintenance, Stealth Racing are still going too so would be looking at them for the regular maintenance and everything else. Parts are becoming a bit more scarce, no doubt - availability is pretty hit and miss so buy as complete a car as you can! VW has a scheme up and running to reproduce some parts - you can find them if you Google for 'VW Classic Parts' - alternatively they have an agent here in the UK 'VW Heritage' and they independently have been getting some parts reproduced / remanufactured. All I can say is, try and find as complete a car (in terms of trim, etc and not needing bodywork!) as you can.

Welcome aboard. And nice find! Hopefully the mileage is reasonably low. It's impossible to know really until you get the doors open and take a proper look but definitely the things you say are more than likely going to need attention. They seem to store (provided the garage is fairly dry) pretty well. In addition to what you mentioned, I'd definitely be wanting to drain out the coolant too and thoroughly flushing that out and replacing with fresh, and of course prior to attempting to start it I'd be wanting to disable it from starting (so pull the fuel pump relay or something) to let the engine turn over for a bit without firing just to help get some oil moving around. One common thing with 'stored' Corrado's seems to be the interior getting a bit 'furry' / mouldy so you may want to budget some time on stripping it all out and giving it a thorough clean. Unless the mileage is really low

Someone get to this before a bloody trader does!

Interesting. The wording is: You must not drive the vehicle on the road if it fails the test, even if the MOT hasn’t run out, except to: * have the failed defects fixed * a pre-arranged MOT test appointment I wonder how flexible "have the failed defects fixed" is... does that mean you can drive it back home again, under the premise you're going to be working on it yourself, or could you drive it from that garage back to your home, then subsequently to another garage to get it fixed?

Jim replied to G60MAT's topic in Cars for Sale [Other VAG]
Seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money! -
I've got one mate. Happy to pick one up for you as my Costco is about 2 mins from my house, but no idea when I'll see you next!
-
Not sure why you posted this in the Event Announcement & Discussion forum. I'll move it to Wanted for you! :)

Those look correct for the rears I think - good find! Rear speakers on my VR are shot but was reluctant to replace them because of loom cutting but.. this is a nice elegant solution.

Pictures attached for you!

I will PM you my email address - if you send them to me, I will resize them and get them uploaded here for you.

Bit unsure as there's really very few USA based Corrado owners on here. A great company used to be Kompressor Kanada though they seem (?) to have shut up shop. Might be worth asking on the VW Vortex Corrado forum.

ABSbBrake pedal position sensor failing? VR6 same as 16v?
Jim replied to MZpog's topic in Drivetrain
I know DG Autotech were able to repair these, so that guide on the Volvo forum looks pretty plausible. Has to be worth a go! -
Been a real glut of new members lately. Welcome aboard!

Yep - thanks g0ldf1ng3r. Locking this thread. He's said a bajillion times labour costs aren't taken into consideration as it's mostly meant to be stuff you can do at home.
-
OK mate. PM me your PayPal details. Cheers.

This car is sold - I know because I went with the new owner to buy it earlier in the year! I'll lock up the thread.
-
Hi Dave - do you still have this? If so will take it. Think mine is making some noise.
-
Agreed - buy a new one. They're not mega money. You don't want to have to do the job again in a hurry!
-
Nearly £10k and they don't even bother to patch up the bolster wear on the drivers seat? I'm not trying to talk down the value, rather the laziness of some car traders!!
-
There's a guy here on the forum who makes up complete brake line sets for the VR6. They're very well reviewed / rated from what I understand :) Thread / details can be found here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?53172-Genuine-vw-corrado-brake-lines-remanufactured
