Good advice from Dox. I just wanted to say chin up and hope you find the motivation to crack on with it. I know how these cars can get you down sometimes especially with a laundry list like that (and the health complications don't help.. I can also relate unfortunately). The difficulty here is the feeling of being trapped - you'd have to give the car away for peanuts if you sold, but then there's the emotional investment having owned it so long and being fond of the car generally.. on that basis, perhaps you could look into a lock-up or similar where you can come back to and revisit getting the car through the MOT once your problems are behind you a little later down the line? You're pretty out in the sticks so I'm sure you could find somewhere to get the car put away for a while, for not too much money? It would just be one less thing to worry about in the meantime.

OK - that makes sense mate. Thanks for the explanation - I understand how some things work with the car, but there are obviously wide gaps in my knowledge in places :)

Thanks Kev. I didn't realise that injectors pumped at a fixed rate? I assumed they could increase or decrease the amount of fuel required depending on what the ECU was telling them... guess they're not that smart :) Will avoid them then!
-
That's very kind and much appreciated! But I'm ideally just wanting to put in either a new or refurbished set to try and cure a slight misfire I have - so would really like to just fit once and forget rather than having to take it all apart again if I can avoid it. The car is fully assembled currently and has injectors in, but like I say, I think they're to blame for a persistent misfire I have so want them replaced.

May take a punt on them. I know they flow a lot higher than what I need for my car being basically standard, but I figure that's not a problem as they should still flow at the 'regular' rate too. Also found an injector refurb place that list refurbished VR injectors for £30/each so that's another option.

Hi folks.. I have some injectors away for refurbishment at the minute but struggling to get hold of the company to confirm they'll have them done in time for the day I've planned to fit them (Saturday 31st) - as a back up plan I'm accepting I may need to source another set of injectors and will just sell the other set as and when they're returned to me. I can't face VW's price for new injectors, or even Euro Car Parts (£88 each!) but these look OK - just wondered, does anyone know if these are suitable for a regular VR6? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK2-MK3-G60-ABF-VR6-R32-Supercharged-Turbo-440cc-Green-Giant-Injector-/151617432537?hash=item234d1a6bd9:g:OewAAOSweW5VLz8w Thanks.

Announcement: Change in Classifieds system (Panjo)
Jim replied to Andi's topic in Site Comments and Questions
I think I was one of the lucky ones. I listed a couple of items with Panjo and it did actually work for me without any issues. But I do know it was causing a lot of people some major headaches! -

It seems to be that's what people wanted, so hopefully this will be a popular decision. -
VR6 misfiring problem - all cylinders firing, but down on power

VW Spares (http://www.vwspares.co.uk) list a coil pack at £166.20 :) -
A Porsche 911 and an RS4... not a bad garage really mate. The 911 looks superb :)

I don't think anyone is criticising the price Chris - I think we're all just amazed that parts such as this can fetch such strong money :)

Jim replied to G60MAT's topic in Suppliers Forum
Any news on these OE style brushed aluminium effect & red VR6 grille badges G60MAT? Lots of people are keen to get their hands on one I think. -
Trimsport said they're going to make them.. but there's been no other information since.

I'm definitely taking mine off and putting it away safe!!

I got your PM and meant to reply but am just really busy today. Will try take a look at it later. Could you edit your post to remove the link to the car and just stick it in eBay and Misc (seeing as it's a link to a car advert off site) and we'll hopefully be able to resolve the panjo problem.

It's those sorts of prices that are making me want to get my VR back to completely bone stock standard. Not that it's exactly heavily modified but insurance companies sure love pricing up based on modifications!

The screw is reverse threaded :)

Loving this build thread - keep it coming! :)

The true sign of a Corrado owner :-) Made destitute by his car!

There are only two reds on the Corrado - Tornado Red on the early cars, Flash red on the later cars :)

I don't really consider that as a round trip to be a significant hardship - again, knowing the horror stories of windscreens which I've read on here time and time again, I'd travel across the country to get the job done right. People travel from all round the country to garages like Stealth Racing to get work done as they know it's done right. And if there's rot then it's a similar amount of time for a train home I guess! But I do take your point - you would hope you could get it done locally, to a good standard! :)
-
Frankly given some of the horror stories on bad windscreen fitment, I'd travel the 90 miles myself to get it done properly (Wrexham really isn't far from Sheffield).

So Wendy on here is having her car resprayed by Manhattan Motors in Coventry at the moment, and a friend of mine has his MK2 Scirocco booked in for a full respray there at the start of next year. They seem to do a high standard of work and have some expensive and interesting cars come through their doors so would highly recommend them.
