I believe car alarms (especially ones like the Clifford) are best done by people who know what they are doing.. it ties in with stuff like the Corrado's auto full closure and things like that. I would certainly not advise you to have a go if you consider yourself to be a novice! :)

That kinda engine work impresses me.. I bet it goes like the proverbial shite off a greased shovel :) I guess I dont appreciate it as I have never been into body kits and heavy external modification.. does sound like a real decent machine though :)

Yeah, it would certainly turn heads.. but it would attract the all the Nova boys and those kind of muppets. As someone on Top Gear once said when describing the Mitsibushi Evo "It looks like Mitsibushi have just driven the car into the Halfords window, and all the 'accessories' have just stuck onto it". I guess its just me being a bore ;) I always liked the original VR6, in unmolested shape - well, maybe lowered a little on the standard speedlines - that looks just right to me..

Hm.... I mean, yes, its very tidy and all.. but its just a bit too 'bling' for me!

And prepare great wads of cash in order to buy it.. it wont come cheap :)

Another good way to check that the ABS is 'alive' is to press your foot on the brake pedal, then turn on the ignition.. the petrol pump will whirr, and as the ABS light goes out, should feel a slight bump on the pedal. That means its in working order :) I would definately suggest, as Roddy did, that you check all electrics. Corrado has a lot of electrical goodies, and they can all go wrong (a few common faults). Its also worth checking under mats for any signs of water leaks into the footwells - can also be another common problem! :)

I would continually run my car on Optimax, but the only shell garages near to me are at 15 minute drive and Optimax does cost that little bit more.. I use it whenever I am feeling wealthy.. so not too often ;)
-
Lemme try clear this up.. what petrol are you sposed to be running the 16v on? I was using optimax for a while but ended up swapping back to regular 95RON unleaded - I have been told that is perfectly acceptable for the 16v. It gets even more confusing because some people I have talked to said they didnt think you could run the 16v engine on Optimax. So what are you supposed to do!! :)

I cant wait to give the car a proper wax & polish at some point.. there are a lot of surface scuffs that I think will come right out. Got this really cool 3M solution which I have only been able to try on small bits of the car because of our great British weather.. every time I go to start on it, the heavens open. I have two bottles.. one is called 'Finesse-It' and the other is 'Imperial Glaze' The Finesse-It is the stuff you use first - it seems to act like a very mild t-cut and can lift out scratches, and help conceal nastier ones. It feeds the paint, and brings out the colour a lot more. Then you use the Imperial Glaze to seal it all in... as I said, I have only tried it on a few small areas on the car because weather conditions are never right, but it looks like good stuff :)

Here are two more.. make this page totally modem unfriendly :| Shot looking to the interior... Sparkly 'didnt mean to leave the flash on shot'...

I have more pictures, if you like the colour :) Lemme just Photoshop em to a more friendly size..

Though admittedly I did manage to stand in a better light to hide the stone chips.. I cant believe the front of my car. There are so many scratches and chips out of the paint :| Its depressing to look at :(

I think its about 88 quid for 6 months, or 160'ish for 12. Great stuff :(

Wahey.. Took my car for an MOT at 5pm this evening.. was expecting the worst (as one does, especially with the Corrado) but I am glad to say it sailed through. The tester seemed like a nice guy, and I chatted him through the test - he was explaining various bits and pieces.. said overall that Corrado's arent really that bad and most get through the test OK. He said that rust is usually pretty non existant on them too.. So I can safely put the credit card back in the wallet until next month.. road tax is due :)

Sorry.. just read this finally.. I know you already know which head unit I have after talking to you on MSN.. But if it helps, we both have the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP - as I said, works very well with no CD skipping... :)
-
It sounds really cool... Have to get a few pictures once its installed :D

I have to ask.. I wanted to do this for my car a while ago, but thought it was waaay too much of a challenge. How do you shut it down after you turn the car off? Do you actually have to shut it down like as if you were using it on a desktop, or do you have some other way of shutting it down when the ignition is off?
-
Jon, Can you try and get a picture so we know what they look like on the car? Cheers :)
-
Should you come to sell your Pioneer unit, give me a shout.. I might have someone interested in it :) The stereo sounds like excellent value btw... almost.. too good? Read any reviews of that unit yet?
-
VR6, Why dont you merge the threads mate? :)
-
Hah... ignore my post above. In fact, going to remove it now. I dont know how I got my information so wrong... talk about getting wires crossed. Sorry if it has confused a few people :(

Roddy, Nice to see you have joined the forums :) Your Storm looks absolutely spotless.. is it a daily driver, or do you garage it up for certain times of the year?
-
I would personally like an original mint condition, un modified, runs & looks like its fresh out of the factory 1996 N Plate VR6.. probably a Storm, in Mystic Blue :) I honestly like the Corrado as it was designed and wouldnt like to do anything else to it if I had it! :) But as is.. would be nice to have a Corrado, that doesn't need some other job doing to it, every other bloody week :(
