  1. Cripes! Driving down in a VR wouldnt exactly prove financially viable then would it.. :( GTI International does sounds really cool.. it'd be nice to go to a car show dedicated to Dubs, so I can mooc around and pick up stickers and memoriabilia and stuff :) Might even find useful parts and bits.. think I will definately go this year :)
  2. Roddy, Dont know to be honest mate! I wouldn't mind making the drive up to GTI International as I have never been before... I'll definately be going to the AGM as its such a short trip away for me. I know that John Munyard has some dates for a Rolling Road day at AmD early this year, and I wouldnt mind going to that... It must be a hell of a trek down from Scotland though... 4+ hour drive?
  3. Hey Roddy, You gonna be making the trek down from Scotland for the CCGB AGM? Just curious.. wouldnt mind seeing your car in the metal, as it were.
  4. Roddy, The sound deadening is all present and correct, and in good condition. I'll have to keep looking into this one.. Sure a 1.8T transplant would sort me out.. lol :D
  5. Roddy, Hm.. interesting that you mention this. When I had my car serviced by Stealth in Feb last year, they put in Synta 10w/40 which I felt made the engine noisier. In the summer, managed to persuade one of the motor vehicle guys to change out the oil for some Castrol GTX 15w/40 which had been reccomended by Ron Ashtiani from the Corrado-UK mailing list - he was an ex 16v owner, and had found it helped him out a lot. And it did help a lot - quietened down the engine a lot. But then I took the car to stealth for new tappits and found that they had topped up the car with some more oil, which I assume to be their 10w/40 Synta. So now I have a mixture in there. Could that be causing harm? The car is due for service again at the end of February so an oil change is due real soon...
  6. Hi Guys, A few of you own the 2.0 16v, and just wondered if you have any tips / things to check that can make the 16v less noisy? The belts & pulleys on my car will never be quiet it seems - had them all replaced since buying the car and I still get noise from round there. Also had my tappits changed a few months back, and whilst that helps, the car still sounds very noisy. Hard to define noisy exactly - just a lot of general whirring, chugging - can hear noises from inside the cabin at idle.. Can the alternator be noisy? I dont have the tools required to disconnect the alternator belt, so cant be sure if thats the problem. Yet every time I have gone to Stealth and said "engine still seems noisy" they always seem to think it sounds fine? Any ideas? Cheers.
  7. Nothing to worry about mate - at the end of the day, the guy trying to sell the car to you is going to be nervous. Go with that little checklist - ask the relevant questions, and you'll blow his cover way before he manages to try and trick you :)
  8. Yea... I am a big fan of Azevs.. if I ever had any money for alloys, it would be either a set of them on BBS RK's or BBS RC's that sat on my Corrado :)

    Argh! My Car!!

Have yet to get the front bumper sorted to be honest. Its a 90 quid bill that I just can't afford at the minute - last month had to get 2 new tyres for the MOT, this month I have to tax the car, then next month its time for a service - just can't raise the 90 quid to put the scratch right. But as its plastic, I am not going to rush - not like it'll go rusty or anything :) And yeah - my car shows up scratches like you wouldnt believe... Have to say, I envy the fact you have 2 C's :) Any pictures? :D
  10. I prefer the standard VW bumper to be honest.. Lee C's excellent Corrado is proof that the standard bumper can look just as good as any aftermarket one :)
  11. I have to say, the centre gauge panel thing is really tempting. I am only kinda unsure about the mod for a few reasons : * Cost of bits like the actual gauges and oil pressure sender.. * How DIY it is - because I haven't got a freakin clue when it comes to do this kind of thing :| I really wanna do the mod though as it looks sweet, and my centre 'binnacle' is used for absolutely nothing. Andy, The VW item does crop up on eBay from time to time, but dealers like Niko are prepared to pay the cash to snap em up - they go quite quickly as they are so rare. But the original item does look very cool.. :) Yea, you are right - its normally oil pressure and battery power gauges that go in there - but if you have a G60, I think you can put some kind of boost gauge in there? Is that right anyone?
  12. I like the look of my car more when its overcast as well.. when it goes sunny, it exposes all the little horrible scratches and the paint seems very bright pink kind of colour. Overcast on a bright day is when it looks the best :)
  13. vondribbley, Holy cow dude.. I am glad that your C is still in your possession, and not dumped in a hedge somewhere. Some of the people these days are total b*stards, and they should be strung up and shot. Its annoying as some people don't just own cars for a functional perspective - they own them because they like them, and these b*stards have such low morals, they don't even consider the upset and frustration they leave behind. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a bloody Ford Focus or somethin, but the Corrado is getting rarer and rarer as each day goes by.. Anyway - your new alarm sounds up to the job :) *edit* And Nigel.. thats a great idea for a modification to the alarm! Wonder if anyone is gonna have a go at it? :)
  14. Lee, Check out the gallery - one of our members (vr6storm) has posted some pictures of his immaculate Classic Green Storm VR6 - links to those threads are here : http://www.corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/vi ... .php?t=235 http://www.corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/vi ... .php?t=235 Yes, its a very nice colour :)

    Argh! My Car!!

2CC.. welcome to the forums :) I have developed a tasty scratch on my once unblemished rear bumper thanks to some moron.. had a go at polishing it out, but only managed to conceal it a little. Bloody annoying when people do that :(

    SpiralMax

Oh gee.. they look reputable. I love the 'sketch' style installation guide!! :D

    lower running temps!

Just to get a little more information.... What kinds of Corrado's will it fit? Can you give an approximate estimate of the cost incl labour? I don't think I would be interested as much, but I guess a few guys on here might be - and it saves them asking the questions :)

    Insurance

Hm.. the second policy sounds like a great idea at that price. Many insurance companies, despite how long you have been with them (loyalty?) will not allow you to do that, and start you off fresh with a second policy at maximum price. Sounds like a good deal to me!
  19. Jim

    low mpg

To be honest, 30MPG is about right. On long motorway runs where you are doing say a continual 70-80MPH, you might expect to get up to 39MPG if you were lucky? But combined, like you said, 30MPG sounds about right to me? Anyone else?
  20. Jim

    low mpg

That sounds about right.. depending. Is this motorway or urban driving, and what type is your Corrado?
  21. Hm... if I didn't have such a large list of other jobs I want doing, I would ask Stealth take a look at new pads & discs at my next service (end of Feb/early March) but as it is, I am determined to get a decent exhaust system next! :)
  22. Wow.. that is very tidy and very cool. :)
  23. Looks like it says : http://www.cruiseboard.co.uk But that seems to be a dead link... :(
  24. Hrm.. dont think this is anything important. Went to drive to work this morning - the car had been sat for about a day and a half. As I went to actually move, there was a loud clunk / thud from under the car as I moved. Now I assume this was some kind of ceased calliper / joint somewhere or something because the car had been sat out in the freezing weather.. but it seemed to come from all around? I have suspected my rear callipers are a bit stiff these days.. could they have been a candidate? Cheers!
