  1. Yeah, sorry to hear the news m8 :( . If its any consolation, my friend has a gold saxo and he likes it. :)
  2. Mine had the better of an Impreza on the motorway a few weeks ago :D . I have to say that I didn't expect it after all I'd heard about the impreza's. So you could say that I was unexpectantly suprised :) VR6 - 2, Impreza - 0 :D

    Strut Brace

I was given a VR strut brace for my car and it fitted ok apart from it hitting a little stud as well. I didn't take it because of this but, in hindsight I probably should have taken it and made it fit. Strut braces are not precision components, so if you can fit the brace on with a few little mods then its ok (As long as it still looks good).
  4. I'd say if tis all done properly then £300 would be a fair price.

    gsf gaskets

As long as the gasket is made by Bosch then you'll be fine I think. Bosch make the same gaskets for other companies other than VW. These ones are still marked with the Bosch logo and have a hologram on the package.
  6. My understanding on the strips is that, there's a hard plastic strip which would probably cost about £50 but there is a rubber strip which separates the hard plastic from the roof. Its the rubber that perishes not the plastic. Thats how I assumed it would be after talking to the guy in the VW parts dept. To be honest I haven't looked at the strip that close myself  but I will this evening when I get home. I'd also like one of those keys...
  7. Joby, I'd say that's a wise decision 8)
  8. That rock sounds like a great place. I suppose there's no speed limits either :)
  9. They're like the cars out of 'Days of Thunder' :) What sort of kits are on them?
  10. You know those rubber strips that run along the roof (front to back). Well I don't know about yours but mine look a bit knackered. I was browsing through the R. Bentley CD and came across the part no. for these its AKL 450 005 05. I phoned up a dealer to get a price for new ones and, to my suprise they only cost about £6 each :D . (the prices for corrado parts was to be reduced according to someone in the forum so, maybe this is true after all). Anyway, I ordered two sets yesterday, they should be here next week 8) . The CD also shows how you have to prise them out, from the back towards the front which is handy. I'll keep ye posted (just in case they don't fit or anything)
  11. I had to change a CV boot on mine for its last MOT. (cost £25 fitted). I also had to change two CV boots for an MOT on my 16v C, a few years ago. So you should check them! Good Luck.
  12. Just sitting in traffic today admiring a new 3 series BMW and I noticed that the wheel arches are well shaped around the wheels on the 3 series. i.e. nice small and even gap all round. I also noticed that this look was helped by the moulded mud flaps they have. Does anyone know if there are OEM moulded flaps available for the corrado? I was told, the rear mud flaps off a Mk3 golf would probably fit. Does anyone have any pics of mud flaps on a c. Or do you think they'd look stupid?
  13. Yeah, very nice, clean car, I like the colour 8) Is that 'Recaro' on the seats? BTW, you're location will also be hard to beat. :)
  14. I was on a budget and spent money on a cheaper D&W setup. BIG mistake. In my opinion they destroyed the car's quality. I ended up spending more money for Koni coilovers. I would seriously recommend fitting Eibach lowering springs first. They should take your car down 25 - 30mm which is just right for looks. You can always fit the shocks later, btw many c owners use bilstien. HTH

    Joe M's 16v

Very nice Joe 8) The rims look like a pleasure to clean. :)
  16. You can get 2k paint at any good car parts/ motor factor shop (NOT car accessories shops). You'll find your paint code on a label in the boot. Take the code to the motor factors and they'll be able to match it for you no problem.

    Short Shifters

brookescourt, would you recommend the B & M type? Is it silver like it shows in the ad, if so, how do you manage with your leather gator? I found an old PVW mag (Nov '02) on a Venom advertisment. It offers the B&M quickshift to suit the corrado for £105.

    Short Shifters

I've seen them advertised in an old PVW mag for £106. I'll try and dig it out and get the details on here.

    Painted callipers

I think the hammerite paint properties are the same. Its the finishos that are different, I used th smoother finish for mine.
  20. I will get to a gti-international but I can't go this year cos i'm gettin hooked on May 10. Bad timming or what? :)

    Short Shifters

The throw distance in the corrado gear shift is v long and, if you shorten the throw to change gear half a second quicker then its an inexpensive way of improving performance (i.e. 2 secs by fifth gear). So with this in mind I was wondering if anyone has fitted one of those short shifters to their corrado? I've seen them advertised for £106 with your old gear mechanism exchanged. Last year I took the advise of a fellow c owner who removed the gear mechanism under the console and lowered the centre of gravity on the gear stick thus giving a shorter throw. There is a lot of theory in doing this job (too much to type) and trust me it works but, it is difficult. I tried this myself and after much 'head wreaking' I managed to put it all back together and get it working again. I have to say that mine was not a success. When doing this job precision is needed otherwise the change is very notchy, especially changing down into 2nd. I even adjusted the cables at the gearbox to try and get a smoother shift without success. No worries because the mechanism is the same in passat's up to '94. I got a replacement for a fiver in a scrap yard and my change is as good as new. But I do like the idea of a shorter shift and would be interested to hear if anyone has tried the £106 version. Cheers

    Painted callipers

ROADHOG, I painted my calipers recently and used Silver hamerite paint. I just removed the wheels, sanded and cleaned (with thinners) what I could see of the calipers, then painted them. I wanted to see what it would look like without going to all the bother off removing them 'n that. Since I done the job I've heard a few poeple comment about painting the calipers. One guy said that unless you use the proper paint you could end up with the calipers going on fire as, they do get pretty hot under braking. What I have noticed (maybe its a coincedance!!) is that one of my back calipers is now sticking :x . Maybe I painted over something I shouldn't have. BTW they do look cool 8)
  23. I hate it when my own passengers don't respect my car for example, climbing in with big dirty feet and slamming the passenger seat back before they slump in it, kicking the door speakers in the process :x . Another one is when they're taking their bags out of the boot, they slam the boot closed and ding the bags off the side of the car. Then if you say anything they'll go 'its only a car'.
  24. Mine has done 86.241. I bought it on April 14 2001 with 77k on it.
