    8v Lovin'

As others have said glad your wifes ok. Good luck with getting the insurance payout sorted.
  2. I had mine replaced few weeks ago. Think it was £100 plus vat for the coil.

    Tps?

I thought they sold to everyone but offered discounts to trade people. The one i use in Collindale has never asked any questions.
  4. £56 from TPS to get the tumble kit for 4 locks. Probably cheaper than getting a full set of locks.
  5. Brilliant. My next question is do you have to take the door lock off to fit it as there isn't much space beind the door card to get to.
  6. Not sure what the actual name is but I've snapped the white plastic clip that the door pin clips into. Do VW still sell them and does anyone have the part number/name? Thanks
  7. well theres a new thing i learnt today. Next step is to test if mine are miraculously working
  8. Unfortunately this will more than likely be the case. My cousin had a similar thing happen to him and 2 years later insurance were still looking into it. Feel for you mate.
  9. Not sure if you'd be able to use the same cage. Someone did tell me you can buy cages separately from the respective HU makers for about £10. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. Guaranteed to be dodgy. And i'd put money on it being someone from Nigeria. Seen a few of these types of scams about. Best was when i had a letter through the post saying i had won some european lottery. All they needed was by account number and short code (yes they asked for short code haha). You'd think that if your going to try and scam people you'd make an effort with the spelling and grammar.
  11. I've found sky insurance cheapest for the last few years and Chris Knott can generally match them. Im a bit worried what my renewal is going to be once my claim goes through. Was bracing myself for up to double this year but £4k is ridiculous.
  12. I had similar issues on my 8v gti. Turned out to be a timing issue with the dizzy. But as mentioned above could be a number of things. Get it hooked VAGCOM
  13. When it's closing does the sunroof keep stopping. Ie closes a little bit every time? Could be the motor on its way out.
  14. Try the passenger handle on the drivers side. If it works then the handle is ok as is the micro chip in the handle itself. If the above works then it will be a break in the wiring. I fixed mine a couple of weeks ago. Check out this thread. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?60828-Central-locking-a-fix
  15. Does the drivers side lock and unlock the passenger side? And when you say its a new handle do you mean brand new or second hand?
  16. I tried to get some tabs to re-tumble one handle and my not-so-friendly dealer said i had to buy a kit. £59 plus vat for enough tabs to do 4 handles. Told him to bugger off.
  17. I had a similar issue on my 8v gti. Replaced the ecu relay and coil but cutting out still happened. Turned out to be the crank sensor. Although on mine it would cut out and not start for a while.
  18. Cheers guys. Didn't have time to go to audi/vw so picked up from maplins instead. £9 for 10metres.
  19. Thought id post this as nearly all the central locking issue threads out there don't give this as a solution and it may help others. Since i bought the car only the passenger side locked and unlocked both doors, boot and petrol cap. Recently the passenger side one started to play up (left me in a spot of bother at the petrol station as the petrol cap was locked due to central locking not working. Was led to believe that it was the chip in the door handle so got myself a second hand one, swopped it over and nothing. So unwrapped the tape covering the wiring loom for the central locking in the door and found that the there was a break in the wires. http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/krish0121/?action=view&current=IMG_1005.jpg http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/krish0121/?action=view&current=IMG_1003.jpg http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/krish0121/?action=view&current=IMG_0997.jpg http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/krish0121/?action=view&current=IMG_0996.jpg Simply spliced the 3 wires back together tested the central locking and it worked. Had a look at the drivers side and it was the same issue. I now have central locking that works on and from both sides. One very happy owner.
  20. Do as below and it should come out. Mine refused to move until i used this method.
  21. Is there a replacement for the black tape-like-thing that wraps round the wires inside the car. Or is duct tape the only option?
  22. That is lucky. Good thing you weren't travelling at speed. Definitely check that the bolts are done up tight once they fit the new wheels on.
