  1. yeah it is funny that! thats what i thought? well ive been on to both the trading standards/consumer advice and the complaints dept of national tyres. consumer advice really helpfull and spoke to me about "supplies of goods and services act 1982" basically is to do with taking care of your vehicle (in my case anyway) and the service which has been provided (or not in my case). they told me to write a letter regarding this with some other stuff which she told me about in the letter and send it recorded delivery. i rang national at 09:08am and got told that i would be contacted within 24Hrs by the regional manager. and guess what .....had no phone calls! gonna writ this letter tonight, consumer rights lady said i couyld ring her and go through the letter before i send it. which i thought was nice of her. and get it sent of in the morning! only problem is i cant really start any work on it until national have contacted me as i need to give them a chance to rectify any problems. er no thanks i will get it sorted myself and bill you cheers!
  2. its on the inner side nearest to to box, and has completely sheared in half. more revs to go faster means more torque, more torque going through the shafts, causing this to break. if it was gonna happen it was gonna happen. but it happen when they had the car and took three people to drag it back and i cant see how they can dispute the fact they broke it! i know what you mean about going with the person driving but i was thinkin down the the lines of my weight in the car on the n/s and may have some effect on the steering and wanted him to see what i see, if you get what i mean. they are closed sundays so goona ring up customer services tomoz speak to them. if getting no where then i will get on to trading standards just a small quote from their website: "Our whole operation is based on one very simple premise – that we go that extra mile to make sure that every single one of our customers is totally satisfied with the service we provide" Alan Revie, Chairman i want to speak to this guy and ask him his opinion!
  3. my near side drive shaft has snapped! but the worst thing is i wasnt even driving it. it all steams from this tracking which ive been trying to get tracking sorted out. i went back to national for the forth time on sat and got it done, went for a drive round the block wasnt right so i went straight back there was no noise, no clunking no nothing. the staff were havin a knock about in the car park. so i got the guy who did it to come over and got him to have a go in it so he could see how far it was out. 10 mins went by, 15 mins went by, 25 mins went by, im thinkin whats he doin? at this point two of the other staff had gone out in a car, didnt say anything. then the manager came out and said that my driveshaft had snapped. i was like "what?" where is it then? his reply where you left it have you got aa or rac? er no your guy was driving it! his reply oh well i must have missed heard him on the phone, my reply I hope so. then it was dragged in by the two other guys who had gone out. then they basically dumped it in the car park. "your diveshaft has snapped" not even a sorry! so i spoke to the manager and asked what the score is now with your guy driving it? "its just general wear and tear, unless he hit something", he went and asked, "no he didnt hit anything". well of course he's gonna fookin say that!!! i know that he would of nailed it and its then snapped. but again when i asked him, he said "no i never abuse customers cars" i alrite! so potentionally i could of nailed it and it snap on me. but i dont drive it like that i just potter about in it so dont think i would of done it, not until next month when im going to santa pod any way. then i would of been well fooked! SO where do i stand with this?? im gonna ring customer services today and see what i can get out of them, but im guessing nothing! but what do you guys think? can i charge them for any work or bits resulting from this? or is just tough S##T! sorry for the rant, Si :(
  4. this is what i meen, camber is gonna be out and everything. figures in books are no good to me!
  5. cool cheers for that. can i order over the phone and get the same discounts or is it just online discounts only? cheers Si.
  6. what you recommend for my high mile G60? 15w 50?? can you do me a filter to go with it?
  7. if you know someone "in the know" then yeah see what they think, im kinda thinkin its gonna be a trail and error type of thing. the other thing i was thinkin is that some thing else is bent or even the car itself might need jiggin. but thats a bit extreme i think
  8. not sure in mm how low it is but they have had the gauges on. but do they not go off measurments from a book or just go off what i says on the gauges and just get them to match and if it does match is that the best im gonna get as far as there concerned? phoned them today and re-booked for sat so might just get them to stick it loads to the right see what happens?
  9. so they still werent right once you had it done? ive been to national tyres three times now and its still not right! first time, its was better then it was before it was done. then bit better and a bit better again. it does seem to have a bit of torque steer but it still pulling to left. you get a 1 month warrenty with it so gonna get it re-booked in for sat again but i feel like im bothering them even though its not right

can anyone recommend what oil to put in my super high mile G60. cheers Si.
  14. when i got the G the tracking was out, had new track rods put on and it was even worse, wasnt bothered though. got some new tyres and going to get them fit before i get the tracking done. rang around a few places but beacuase its so low been told to go to a body shop. i rang one of the biggest body shops in my area, HB Panelcraft - who are a porsche specialist repair shop, but they told me because its on coilovers and lowered there machine will only calibrate it to the manufacturies spec ie standard ride height. i thought this was a load of shite and wouldnt make a difference and they were tellin me porkie pies! does this sound right to you lot or would it being lowered make that much difference?
  15. put the bottle on today, no spillage. unbolted the bottle, turned it upside side swapped the pipes over then poured the contents of the old bottle into the new bottle. then swapped top breahter over. job done. ran for ten mins or so no flashing light, coolant temp seemed to take a while to start to move and then get to 70. hot air coming through the vents. could do with takin it on a run now.
  16. bump, some one must have one!!
  17. im not worried bout fitting the bottle itself, more worried about the coolant going everywhere then trying to top it back up again whilst on a hill? got the bottle. didnt even get a cap with it! stingie gits!
  18. Has anyone fitted a snap off kit to a momo wheel and boss?? I need info and pics please. I want to know how the snap off base plate fits to to boss/column. Cheers Si.
  19. Ordered the bottle today so will be there in the morning. I got the part you guys said, this was the same one the chap at the dealers was on about. Was thinkin about puttin a used one on from work which prob would of been free. But I thought for £15 it wasn't really worth it. Just have to mess about fittin it now cheers for the response people
  20. its blue. no seal i was gonna pop some vasaline on like you said in a different post.
  21. came to start the car this morning, coolant light goes out, then within a minute it starts flashing again. did this a couple of times to see if it would stop but it didnt. didnt have time to sort this out so went to wor in the golf. gotto work checked the forum as to cause's, most answer point to the sensor in the bottle. got back from work and started the car again still the same within a minute the light starts flashing. so topped up the water, and i cant tell the coolant level as i live on a hill. start her up again over two mins no flashing light. when i topped the coolant up i tyred to be careful not to spill any. so after i turned it off had a look at the bottle there was a slight water drip under the black pastic shroud on the bottle next to the strut top. so thinkin my bottle is cracked. :( BELOW IS WHAT IM GETTING AT: before i got back from work i rang VW to ask how much a bottle was. they gave me two options. the orginal part number which was still available @ £34.?? + vat or an alternate part number which is still the right part but off later VW's like the FOX @ £13.?? + vat has anyone fitted the newer part to there car? any problems or issues with it? if there saying its right i would rather pay less then half the price for the newer type one. any help would be nice. cheers Si.

    snap off boss

yeah i hope i get used to it. but im a bit p##ed off when i saw this: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=93100&p=1074577&hilit=snap+off#p1074577 as it looks about a third the width of mine and it made me well mad that i haddnt been sent the right part by the shop i ordered it from in the first place. i was getting mad and it took me ages to get to sleep as it was going over and over in my head about not being sent the right bit. but it'll be rite!

    snap off boss

drove the G today and didnt find the wheel being that bit closer any problems. the bit im finding a bit wired and think im gonna stuggle getting used to is the distance between the wheel and the ind/wiper stalks. before i could reach the stalks whislt having my hands on the wheel. now i cant and ive got to remove my hand from the wheel to reach them. this may sound a bit lazy or daft but its an odd feeling when i keep reaching for them and there not there.

    snap off boss

Yeah just over £100 for it. I'm more than happy with the security factory off it. But yes it does bring it that bit closer. Not tryed it out driving yet though but think I'll get used to it
