    gearbox problems

every gear is fine apart from second. if it was the slave cyclinder would that make it the same chrunch for every gear?
  3. right then, when i was at santa pod this weekend one of my mates asked if he could take the G down the strip. i was gonna say no but i would of felt like a right c##t aspecially as i was im my other mates fiat taken that down the strip. anyway as my mate was taken the G down "something" happened and the clutch pedal didnt come completly up as he was trying to get it into second. rather than taken it easy and letting it run out he jsut keep tryin to ram it in gear and now when driving it goes into 2nd with force and makes a crunching noise! not right happy as you can imagine but what are you gonna do? any ideas of what might be wrong? a friend of mine thinks it might be the syncro thats gone knacxkered? if the box is now fooked whats the best replacement? i have seen something about a mk3 golf TDI box? any help/suggestions would be nice. cheers Si.
  4. i had a superman style supercharged t-shirt, guess you didnt see me :( . or did and thought knob! yeha i was a bit quite on the sunday. the pic off the green and white G60's together i was parked a bit further down, i was behind a mazda and a fiat so you might not of seen me. good weatgher for it though. ust a bit hot for the strip. bit dissapointed as my fastest time was 16.04 but thats something to better nest time i suppose. went down in my mates fiat coupe and got 12.84 its fookin fast! my mate has also seemed to have broken my gearbox whilst going down the strip! plum!
  5. cool sounds good! camping over in sat night. not going on strip on sundy though. keep an eye out for me, i'll be wearing a special t-shirt so see if you can spot me! if you do then please, come say hello! Si
  6. panic over! after ragging the back seat the bolt only seemed to be finger tight anyway! back seats now out ready for pod! :D
  7. bump - please see edit at top. cheers Si.
  8. i know there wasnt much of a response to this when i posted it! but its this weekend if any else is going?
  9. going to sant pod next weekend for VAGFest and im gonna take out my back seats before i go, just wondering if there is anything to look out for when doing this. ive take plenty of interiors out of cars but never a rado is there any sneaky lil bits to be weary of? Si. EDIT - got the base seat's out and the n/s upper seat out, but how the hell do you get the o/s upper out. there is a bolt which is at the base of the seat which goes through a fixing hole on the base of the rear wheel arch. this bolt looks like it has been chopped on the n/s seat and cant seem to work out how it comes out.
  10. bit of an update. after no contact from the letter i sent national, which was sent recorded delivery so i know it got there. i rang them yesterday and was told the regional manager would ring me. so today got a phone call from him nd after a quick chat and as a gesture of good will he said they would pay for the driveshaft. so this leaves me with a bill of £40 for transport and fitting. in the situation im in and it going to be hard work and time spent persuing this. i decided to take his offer and cut my losses. Si
  11. unlucky, where you driven it? can you clame againt yourself?
  12. i thought about running it and video it for all to see. been to look at it tonight and its not to bad n/s wing is prob to far gone, bonnet has minor rust bubble on o/s corner but all the lights are there, handles work, de-badged grill with extra lip trim spoiler above it, s/s exhaust which looks like new, lowered suspension, orginal alloys which look in good condtion. i need some bits of it but not sure if i can be arsed breaking it not bother bout making out on it just be nice to have some spares for whne mine starts falling apart. and according to VW, KR and PG are same driveshafts so i could have some spares for when the brake again!
  13. ot was just a junker that came into work
  14. i could appreciate wear and tear on a cv joint but not on the shaft, so for the manager to fob me off with that excuse kinda annoid me. people can say this that and the other but if it was you in your car and some one else broke it and then fooked you off and left you with an undrivable at 4:30 on a sat afternoon 15 miles from your house how would you feel. i have to at least try and get something out of this would you not im sayin you as in people and not pointin at one person by the way :D
  15. i have had no contact from them and have since have to fix my car due to travel comitments. so far seems to have made no furhter complications with gearbox and surrounding parts. all in all a fix which for them is gonna be chump change. i know there are two side to every story and that they would never admit liability as this would open a whole can of worms for them. the simple fact whilst the car was in the care when this happen is my problem. i try to be nice with customer services / retail as i tend to find this gets you further. also having worked in retail i know its not always the person you speak to or deal with's fault. on the phone or face to face yours always gonna get big talk! but puttingall this info down in writing i feel its gonna be harder for them back there corner
  16. sounds fair enough just thinkin of money i can get back on bits i dont need
  17. as per title. sorry dont know much about it or miles but lets just say its average miles non smoker? lookin at buying one for breaking thats all. cheers Si.
  18. Black M'reg VR6 on borbet A's I think, on the M65 @ about 1:40pm. I was in the golf and gave you a thumbs up out the window!
  19. sorry but im gonna have to disagree, i could appreciate it if it was a CV joint but for the shaft to brake i would say it would have to come under some kind of stress. you say that the mot means nout, but i know the guy who did it and he would told me if there was something wrong with the car. may not be something that is checked, i dont do mot's, but checking all the suspension is part of it. so he should of been able to see something. again you say history/receipts mean nout? surley if a car has been well looked after and well maintained that you cant discount that fact. if it was just a peice o c##p never looked after then again yeah there might be some issue there. the main point im getting at is that how can they not take liability for it when it was the care of one of there employess. if they regional manager has said if i buy the bought and he will get it fitted free of charge is that not taking some sort of liability?
  20. mot'd within the last month with no mention, full service history, stacks and stacks of reciepts. no expense spared uprated bushes anti roll bars and suspension. this may be modified but its all better than standard stuff. but again yes it could of happend when i was drivin but it didnt. it dont drive my car in a manner which would of caused this to happen.
  21. cause i wanted him to see what i see. but in hein sight (?) yes i should of gone out with him. but i dont expect them to drive/break it in the that they did cause i wouldnt do to some ones car!
  22. spoke to the regional manager for my area today. he basically said that they would not accpet liability, which was always gonna be the case, but as will of good gesture if i bought the part that he would have it arranged to be fitted free of charge. i told him that i dont want them doing anymore work on my car, he said well there all fully trained and quailifed. maybe so but they still broke my car. so letter wrote, with the help of a good friend who also happens to be a forum member! sent off today to head office. will see what happens next!
  23. this is poo, havin a similar prob myself. get on to trading standards/consumer advice like i did today. really helpfull. they were talkin about supplies of goods and services act 1982. this can be found on the web. it talks about various things but on about its against the law to charge for work and parts not supllied which sounds just up your street!
  24. black, i think M-reg going north bound on the m1 just past preston at about 7:45 this morning any one see mine on the back of a transporter today? :(
