1. Not to disrespect your soldering skills but I think you may end up chasing electrical gremlins if you cut and solder the loom. Also, I don't think there is much slack at that part of the loom if you intend to re-terminate? Depends on your loom. I can send you the tool in the post, but I'm using it on a current project until 7th October.

Bulb wattages

I don't think the standard reflectors can cope with 90/100w without melting.
3. It might be worth buying the tools have a look here; http://www.northwalestools.co.uk/laser-4328---terminal-tool-set-for-renault-citron--97174-p.asp I would lend you my set but I'm still busy using them and I won't be down you way till November.
4. So, have you removed the 3 large pins with the tool? It's a different tool for the small pins you know?
5. I'm in the process of making a loom for headlight adjusters, but I haven't had time to work it all out yet. Here is the info I've found by on the web; http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=31457 http://forums.kilometermagazine.com/showthread.php?795961-Installing-headlight-adjuster-motors http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4019629-fs-ecode-headlight-harness-corrado-100-shipped

8. Seems like a bit of a bodge, but the I think the method you describe is detailed here; http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?98913-VR6-Rev-gauge&highlight=mk2+clocks
9. Has anyone got pics of the VR6 helmholtz resonator? I'm not sure if mine is complete.
10. Hmmm indeed. There are a few peeps in the states that have swapped to OBD2 that still use the old sensor. You can also get universal sensors that will splice into both. I have used the OBD2 sensor on OBD1 management without problems and presumed that they would be the same. But if Vincent says the later sensor is better and knowing how fickle the VR6 can be, I would go with that and join you in the naughty corner.
11. You need a Junior Power Timer Tab (male)(there are two types, use the type which looks like a box at the wire end)
12. Have a look at Alsa SofTouch paint.
13. A cheaper way would be to get a VDO sump plug temperature sender M14x1.5 thread.
14. OBD1 and OBD2 throttle bodies are not interchangeable without changing your ECU and wiring. The OBD2 has a stepped ramp, has a smaller butterfly and difficult if not impossible to modify successfully. AFAIK there are two factory variants of OBD1 throttle body, one has a stepped ramp and a smaller butterfly (MK3 Golf,Passat,Vento), the other is smooth and has a larger butterfly (Corrado). The AMD throttle body has; a butterfly which is a step larger again, low profile centre spindle, countersunk screws, smoothed and polished with a larger overall bore.
15. Current set up can be found under additional info on my user page, but the throttle body has been on the car since I got it. Back then the only other mods were air filter, exhaust and chip. Car always felt quick with a great throttle response and great noise. I think 72mm may actually be the size of the bore not the butterfly, I took some photos to compare it to the OBD2 throttle body, I'll see if I can find them. I think it used to be a common mod to compliment the Schrick Manifold and 268 cams. Only removed due to changing to OBD2. I still have the receipt from AMD, £500 fitted! LOL
16. Ive got a big bore AMD throttle body with Porsche 72mm Butterfly for sale at the start of October.
17. Interested, depending on price. I presume the kit would swap out our ****e rear bearings for the Mk4 Golf type?
18. I've got one on my MK1, it's made by VDO and it's height adjustable for different cars. I'm sure it's compatible with the standard MFA gauge but I'm using an analog VDO gauge. Reads between 5 and 10 degrees lower than the MFA.
19. I do t know what the VW tool is like, but these work a treat... http://pages.ebay.com/link/nav=item.view&alt=web&id=281402617295 Western Forge 30019 "robogrip" Plier 9" - Vnotch New
20. Same sensor, different plug.
21. The throttle cable end just snaps into the space on the Obd2 throttle body, you don't need the clamp/clip.
22. 8mm spline socket also called Double hex, 12 point, and Triple Square socket.
23. I don't know that there is a recommended mileage at which to replace the chains, at 100k I would hope you had a way to go yet. Maybe worth considering when the clutch or gearbox needs doing?
