  1. Wow you've had a rough time with it, hopefully you'll have a good spell now for the summer and get to enjoy driving it :)
  2. Maybe try getting some heat wrap on it to muffle the sound a bit? I'm just clutching at straws but maybe the decat is made out of a low quality material, I assume it's stainless?
  3. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your Corrado, I hope you have lots of patience ;)

    G60 down pipe

If it was me I'd start by checking the flexi section of the downpipe, as mentioned above try to see if you can feel any air escaping from the back of the engine around the exhaust manifold, careful not to burn yourself or start a fire though lol I would get it on a lift and check the flexi while the engine is running, if it is leaking enough to make it so much louder then it shouldn't be too hard to find really.
  5. The term resonated and non resonated applies to the extra silencer doesn't it? You can't resonate a decat pipe as such. How long has it been on for? After a while they tend to quieten down once they have a bit of a soot covering on the inside
  6. This was the 3rd engine conversion I've started, I told myself if I didn't finish it, no matter how long it took, that I might as well just buy a rover 75 and give up on life lol Funny you should say that Kev, AndyO said the immo file that was on the ECU wasn't the correct file for the ECU, he tried to flash a different file on it but he couldn't even do that, I've left it with John at BFT as he said he will have a play around with it when he gets some spare time but he wasn't hopeful of being able to fix it! Yeah I pm'd a couple of other people on here that used SWICT and they had issues too, if I had been aware of that I would never have used them!
  7. I started putting a diesel engine in a mk2 a few years ago, the project got abandoned due to a lack of time really, kids are getting older now so it's a it easier but I still find it a struggle to get stuff done lol Link to tdi club build on my mk2 PD conversion. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=296191 The sub forum that thread is in will be very useful for you if you do go the diesel route :) Yeah cheers Kev, we're definetly getting somewhere now!! The loom work mark has done seems to be ok tbh, most of connections are in the right area. He didn't include the aux waterpump which I asked for, and the oil temp wire was just left with no spade on and he didn't know what it was when I asked him about it. Customer service was also poor, he lied to me about when he posted stuff, fobbed me off with excuses for why it took so long, ignored calls and voicemails and finally totally messed up my ECU. So what should have cost me £550, has ended up costing me about £800 and a lot of wasted time, very nearly sold the lot for scrap last year!
  8. I considered one of the Chinese turbos for mine and as you say a lot of them are poorly balanced, very good idea to have it balanced properly! Quality seems very hit and miss but I have seen some impressive results from them on 1.8t's! Looking forward to seeing some more of this :)
  9. The guys tell you a 30 is probably a bit big so you buy a 35? Not quite sure what the point of asking for advice is if you're just going to ignore it lol Oh well I hope it works out anyway :)
  10. You're welcome :)

    All red rears

I'm going to be tinting my spare set soon if it works out well I should have enough to do my other set, if no one sorts you out sooner!
  14. Hahaha believe me Sean it's well past that stage, it looks like it's been parked in the sea for most of its life, I have a much better condition one that will be getting some love before it goes on but tbh I don't care about anything other than that first drive at the moment lol I'm also undecided if I'm going to keep the car long term or find a better example :) Cheers Fuzz, any reason for you changing yours? I've got the inlet on the bottom at the minute, just going off advice I read on a rally car forum as I wasn't totally sure what was best!
  15. It sounds a little better now than it did before lol A couple of reasons, Mark at SWICT made a mess of the ECU, he left a checksum error that stopped the ECU from starting the engine, the ECU went back to SWICT and he failed to rectify the problem even after having the ECU back for over 2 weeks. When I got it back with the same issue I took it to John from BFT, he fixed the checksum error, only for the engine to start but cut out after only a second. TBH I wasn't sure what size engine it was off, and I realise its probably a bit big for what I want lol. Will just see how things pan out haha So going back in time to the video in post #77. I bought a spare ECU from Ebay, Mark from SWICT wasn't interested in helping any further after ignoring several voicemails, I will call in when i'm passing one day to discuss this with him! Andy Outhwaite from ACR in Croft de immo'd the new ECU and also had a look at the old one, needless to say he couldn't solve the corrupt immo file! With the new ECU she was running like a bag of spanners on the standard map(vid in post 77), but thanks to Mr BFT, now with the rear lambdas deleted and a few other bits it actually sounds like it should, still without an exhaust though! Ran for 5 minutes then I turned it off because I've not wired the fans up yet and surprise surprise it wouldn't start again! Cheeky video Whilst poking around the bay making sure everything was tight the battery negative cable decided to fall apart then I snapped the chassis earth off while try to remove it! So I need to sort that out and see if that solves the starting issue. Few fault codes but nothing to worry about and John reckons he can hide them so they won't show up Picked up my TA koni's from Rays, had these for the mk2 and they've been hiding in his garage for the past few years, will be going to SP suspension for a full rebuild and then replacing the adjustable FK's New oil cooler, thanks to Hofmiester :) and new braided lines instead of the ones that came with it as they were a bit short for where i decided to put it I've mounted it vertically on the passenger side in front of the radiator, not ideal but it should be ok! 42 draft designs crack pipe which was a nightmare to fit after the engine had been stood without one for so long, had to get the dremel out and the KY jelly! Also my new supersize DV arrived, shown next to a 007p for comparison Will update again when I've sorted the wiring issue but I'm happy enough for now, it's the furthest I've got out of the last 3 projects lol
  16. Brand new ones here mate http://bit.ly/1fukBDh
  17. Shaun Pickering is the guy I'll be using to refurb my konis, don't know if he does H&R but worth a call! He's an authorised koni repair centre and I've heard nothing but good things about him, if he can't help he will probably be able to point you to someone who can SP Suspension 07811 108123.
  18. Never mind, I found one, in the boot of the rado lol
  19. I'm after a metal heat exchanger cap from an early VR, the one that the centre bolt unscrews from, not the later plastic style with the pressed in bolt. Need one ASAP Cheers
  20. Sounds good to me, I'll PM you my number :)
  21. Hi Ron, is anything else required to fit the oil cooler? And do you have a part number for the thermostat plate(or know if it will fit a 24v)? £100 collected at the weekend any good to you? Cheers
