-
welcome.. gearbox does have pretty loong throws. i came to the vr6 from a crx with a nice notchy, close gearbox....the vr6 is worlds apart but you can still shift quick if you good enough 8)

There crap and yellow-y and as kev says they are a bad design...its the heat from those that cracks the lens's as i have found since buying mine with no cracks....to now with a big crack in each one

Urgent advice required from VR6 enthusiasts please
jedi-knight83 replied to Ford's topic in General Car Chat
a new engine! thats pretty cool with only 44k on the engine that souldnt cause you any probs. spraying wheel arch should cost about £200 max. heater fan should be under £50 and sunroof assembly you can pick up from ebay for £100 or so. be nice to know why it had a new engine as was it all fitted at VW etc etc. looks nice otherwise -
i'll wait and see if he replys to this thread i think.... yeah im doing the bearing change if i can work it all out. should be easy enough
-
lol, i always ask him though....he is probably getting sick of all my questions by now  so i thought i'd give someone else a try.... looks like i may have to pester him one more time though cheers i'll definately take pics though.... as i will when i do my tensioner pulley on saturday... be good to have a proper corrado guide for that instead of the golf one that is there at the mo.
-
i like my abs light over there actually....cant see it so much when its on...which is most of the time.
-
my air con buttons are in the same place as dinkus. above them are the heated seat dials, then the rear heated window then the fogs.... my abs light is above my headlight switch on the other side of the wheel

anyone got a good how to guide or can write some pretty easy to follow instructions i would really appreciate it! is it easy to bleed the system once its all changed? do you even need to? my running oil temp is running hotter now than it has been before and someone said it could be an air lock or broken thermometer. would VAG COM pick up the broken thermometer?? ta if someone can tell me what to do i'll galdly take pics of it as i go along then we can add it to the HOW TO section.

get a mocal oil cooler if your concerned about the oil temp. m3 style lights can be bought off ebay (go to german ebay if you want them cheep) get the clutch changed and get it on a rolling road to see if it really is loosing power. looks nice and probably doesnt need too much work. -
yeah was the same with my old navman set....the new tomtom 3 one does it instantly
-
i have the ipaq 2210 and the tomtom 3 kit. i was selling a load a few months back for about £380 all in.....though if you look around you can probably get them for £300-£350. its a fantastic kit and irons out all the problems i had with my ipaq 3630 and navman jacket!! i have mine nicely installed in my car....wired all hidden behind the dash etc etc... works great.
-
bought mine on 80k now on 89k in 9 months.... about average i guess.
-
so on yet another off topic subject..... whats your mpg now with the schrick and the TB etc kev??
-
ha, i have a squeeky passenger seat....i think its cause i took my lardy dad for a drive once  open window rattle is a pain.....just wrap the who car inside and out in dynamat.....that'll solve it
-
is there a usefull guide to changing the coolant?? so you can get the roller behind the gubbins on the door to the door skin!! more room than i thought.
-
so is it sticky on one side ?? or did you use your spiderweb subtance?? hmm, i'll have to have a look behind the door cards again. i dont have a mocal so which thermostat do you mean and what would it open? is it easy to drain all the coolant and put fresh stuff in without airlocks? was running at 108 degrees round town just now
-
kevhaywire, maybe i'll give that dynamat a try?? where did you get it and how did you manage to get it on the inside of the door? do you mean you just put it over the plastic sheeting? it would be a mamoth task to get itbehind the window mech and actually direct onto the inside of the door skin!! is it relatively cheap?? i think your right and it would make a huge difference to have a nice refinded car. i did like the crx mainly cause it was a nice finshed project. i think the handling was better than the C but the midrange couldnt compare. as im going off topic in my own thread already.... :-P how much for the chain work do you think? £700-£800?? how much for the dynamatting to do behind doors and all of the boot? my oil was running at 114 degrees last night and i wasnt really pushing it..only about 90mph or so. is this a huge problem? i know its due for a change soon anyway
-
kevhaywire, ha.....sounds like whoever buys your car from you (if you ever sell) will get the best corrado on the road!! thing is i dont really have much spare money at present...most is going into savings for when / if i move. whats the dynamat stuff??? just sound insulation? did you put it everywhere? i think if i can sort the chains out i'll be happy with it again.....i think the best thing is to take the £500 i would have spent on that schrick and just get the engine running nice!!
-
who knows....maybe i'll fall in love with it again after the body work and exhaust are done and maybe the guy at JMR (who is going to look at my engine to tell me what work needs doing) will tell me its not as bad as i thought....but if it is chains then that another £700 into the car and that would really piss me off....you know what its like....when it seems that your just spending money on a car!! might go back and look for a nice low mileage crx anyway. who knows.
-
the thought has crossed my mind....its on 90k now and the engine is pretty noisey and it doesnt feel as quick as when i first got it and im generally not as enthused by it as i was at first...i think i'll tidy it up and sell it while the value is pretty high. Need to get the chains done first though as im sure no one would buy it at the moment. far from mint. i'd say slightly above average.. once the risty bits and scuffs are done and the exhaust is changed it will look nice from the outside (apart from the wheels are in need of a refurb)....the interior is ok but the front seats are looking a bit tired....the engine...well as i said above, it still goes well but im sure the chains are due for a change as its pretty damn noisey now. plus im probably moving out to california for a few months and it seems pointless leaving it here unused and costing me on the insurance....i can always buy another one later in life
