ABS light didnt come on in the test. Got a few minor warnings... slight ammount of play in the rear hubs (could this be causing my knocking on the rear pass side???) Split Offside Inner CV Gator (cant believe they passed me, had a look and the thing is in 2 bits) Slight blowing exhaust on the join near the back box (finally an excuse for a nice new exhaust  ) Brakes actually felt much sharper all last night..wonder if they adjusted anything??

Mine passed yesterday!!! hurray

Some good information there (apart from getting rid of air con!!! i'd prefer to turn up to my meetings crisp and cool rather than all damp from sweat to be honest) i think it was asked earlier but are there any links to places to buy the lightened fly wheel and pulley stuff?

the ongoing saga of my abs.... Spoke to my mechanic who said it should be fairly easy to do the abs. He says the fluid is not under high pressure when the engine is off, infact no higher than the whole brake system unless the abs is actually working. He asked the following though "is it a bosch pump and does it bleed itself?" he thought that most bosch produced pumps bleed themselves when they start up and then it would just be a case of bleeding the brakes. Thanks for your help in advance

i enquired at VW before buying mine off ebay...IIRC the price he quoted was about £400 each but i looked at the pic on the screen and it wasnt the solitude...we couldnt find it listed on the system after looking a bit harder so we left it. get em off ebay for about £250 for a reconditioned set

kina high mileage (considering the 50-60k ones that have been on ebay recently) so i'd say £5000 - £5500

whats a dual tone horn? something to do with the standard alarm???
-
ah, well mine is not behind the grill. i thought it might be hidden in the bumper somewhere....maybe thats why then! better gets myself a horn then....so to speak
-
Bugger.....fingers crossed it stays out then!
-
Not mine.... but a friend with a VR6 has been told the noise is gear box related and will cost £1600 to put right (i've already talked to Phat about maybe upgrading to the 6speed) This quote was from Cowley Rd Garage in Cambs (respected VW place) so i doubt there ripping him off. Does anyone know (and can recomend) and gearbox places in east anglia.? im not even 100% sure what the problem was...its just really noisey and they said it needs a re-con

My MOT is next week. 2 questions. 1. My ABS light is on more often now a days and i havent got round to changing the pump. Would i pass if i just took the warning light out for that day or is there other ways they can detect that its not working??? I know its slightly illegal but i just havent had time to fix it and at the end of the day its not life threatening is it! 2. My horn still wont work which i know is a fail item. Where is the blasted thing located? Ta

if you have an ipaq with tomtom you can download a plugin piece of software that shows were all the speed cameras are and gives you a warning. just as reliable as the road angel and saves you £££.

Paintless Dent Repairers at Inters....?
jedi-knight83 replied to kvwloon's topic in General Car Chat
I guess it depends on how many dents you have. I just have the one so i dont mind paying for them to do a complete job and as has been said...its cheaper than stripping, filling and spraying. i'll let you know the outcome -

I filled out an online form for dent devils yesterday and the guy phoned me today. Said its between £40 - £75 per panel depending on the size and type of dent. He's coming to look at mine at my work on tuesday for a quote and will carry out the work there and then if i agree. good service so far! -
