  1. Ok... im going to be doing a proper guide on this soon as its often an area where people go wrong or expect too much. Cleaner... Ive used both AG and Gliptone. I actually founf the AG more effective. Spray on. use an interior sponge or nail brush to agitate it all and work it into the leather. Use warm water in bucket and leather or MF cloth to wipe off untill no more sign of the cleaner. Leave to dry. If its really ingrained dirt try AG interior cleaner. but make sure its cleaned off properly and follow up with the leather cleaner anyway. Conditioner... Any conditioner should be used when the leather is WARM!!! even the liquid leather will be average if its done on cold leather and wiped straight off. Use a hair dryer or leaver the heater on with all doors closed to raise the ambiant temp. then apply the gliptone liquid leather (yes this is better than the AG conditioner) and work it into leather. Leave for 4+ hrs. and wipe off any residue with a damp cloth if you need it. The key is the warmth. oh and its available from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk for about £6 a bottle.
  2. Afternoon everyone... Did this TT a few days ago now. New to owner who wanted its all ready for winter including the hood cleaning and weather proofing. Process: Washed with AG products, Hood cleaned and protected with AG products, SRP, Collinite 476s Few more pics.. This Range Rover was only 4 weeks old and had been superguarded so the owner just wanted it cleaning up. Process: Washed with AG products, Sprayed with AG auto rinse gloss, Dried, Interior cleaned. More before and after pics. Lastly... this Jag XK8 is 2 years old.. also was superguarded at new (what is superguard exactly anyway... a wax?? a sealant?? how long does it last and what should be done to clean, maintain, or rewax??) Process: Washed with AG products, Sprayed with AG auto rinse gloss, Dried, Interior cleaned. Before and after pics.. Nothing too ground breaking as you can see... but the auto gloss rinse does a nice job on the cars even though it doesnt last all that long. cheers Nathan
  3. it will feel numb compared to a corrado but i found standard power to be the same feel as that of a vr6 the remap will be completely different though. it really does completely change the feel of the car.
  4. my wheels are genuine ones yes but i had reps on my previous S3. Just make sure you get reps with the concave dish look. some are very very flat and look cheap and nasty in my opinion. leigh tyres did my reps before and will know what your talking about if you ask for 'dish' or 'concave' wheels. the revo remap is more agressive than the AMD or APS one but its been on my car for about 15000 miles now and no clutch issues yet. Also it is nice to have the option to turn it off. I have heard the trial is about 70% power that the actual remap will be though.
  5. nice car. same interior as mine. 100% better than the half alcantara option in my opinion. Mirrors from ebay will be chrome or alu plated. the OEM audi ones are machined from one lump of alu.. i know.. i swapped them off my old blue S3. I think they look acceptable on the grey though so there staying now. Wait till you try the remap. i have revo and i put it back to standard recently and HOW SLOW it felt!! back to 260bhp now and feels like it should. Handling compared to the corrado (i had a vr6 on koni's) is very soft and wollowy although it does hold on longer sweeping corners better.. more stable. Traction is great with the haldex keeping things in check although about £400 will get you an aftermarker heldex controller that will send power to the rear when the throttle is pressed compared to when the front slips as it is now. The 18" wheels not only look better but make the handling sharper aswell. Check your tyre pressures aswell. the best combination is 32psi front and 36psi rear. this also helps reduce the understeer! hope you have fun. there great all rounder cars. i love mine to bits. its comfy, handles ok and embarases more expensive things out there :)
  6. what photo equipment do you use?? you have PM by the way :)
  7. none of the oh so famous interior?? do you use this as a daily driver? or just a bit of weekend fun?
  8. having spent alot of time driving my friends 964 i would love one but not as an every day car. i guess ive got used to the comfort of my s3 now. but would still love one as a weekend / summer toy or maybe even the 993. seem to be holding value very well at the moment. Thing i found with them (unlike the audi) is that you have a smile on your face even rolling along in traffic doing 30mph. such great cars. if i wanted it as an every day car i think i would have to go for one of the 996's or 997's. just got that extra bit of comfort with them but obviously there still more pricey and in my opinion the 996 was a bit of an ugly car (by 911 standards)
  9. Was just doing another job in cambridge and walked around the corner and there sitting looking rather dirty was my old green vr6. Got 109k on the clock now (had 96k when i sold) but wasnt looking in the best of shape. The passenger under tray was off and a few wires hanging out.. gear gator was off .. maybe so they could vag com it?? Also its back on standard suspension.... I.E 4x4! and i'm 99% sure it doesnt have the shrick now as the guy i sold it to was selling one on ebay a few months back. Anyway... made me miss the old girl. Hope its nothing too terminal wrong with it.
  10. when and where is it? not sure about free but maybe be able to sort something out thanks for the comments by the way
  11. Early start today as i knew it was gonna be a big one.. this is what greated me. Products used: Autoglym (AG) Wheel Cleaner AG PM3 TFR AG Shampoo and Conditioner Sonus Der Wunder drying towel* Megs Quick Clay* Megs Last Touch* AG Super Sheen AG Super Resin Polish Meguairs #7 Glaze* Collinite 476s* Gliptone Leather Cleaner* Gliptone Liquid Leather conditioner* AG Fast Glass AG Glass Polish AG Vinal and Rubber Care AG Rubber Cleaner No5 *Purchased and Available from Clean Your Car So... loads of time spent on the wheels and arches with the AG wheel cleaner and the TFR. Then soaked the body in TFR and pressure rinsed. Soaked the engine bay with TFR and rinsed. 1hr later and im ready to shampoo the car with AG shampoo and megs wash mit. Then onto the clay. All the panels came up with dirt as in the picture.. nothing too major though. Also a pic of after the clay Then it started to rain.... so back into the lovely well equiped garage (i love working here on bad weather days). Applied the Super Resin to every panel.. even the roof... had to use a step lader even with the suspension on low and me being 6'4". Some pics after the SRP.. i took it back outside as i knew the light was going and these were the best pics i was going to get of it unfortunately... i hate short daylight time. Then i did the interior. Using a mix of AG Leather cleaner, Gliptone leather cleaner, Gliptone liquid leather depending on the levels of dirt it took about an hour or so. Used my sisters hair drier to keep the interior warm once i had applied the liquid leather. Back to the body work... Applied the megs #7 glaze with foam applicator... Then the Collinite 476s. spit shined with Last touch. All buffed off with MF towels.... 8hrs later it looked like this.. Really annoyed as i forgot my spot lights so the photos look really crap in the low light. Im back there regularly now so will hopefully get some next time. Thanks for looking. Nathan
  12. cheers depending on how string i mix the tfr then it will take previous wax layers off. in this instance it was filthy and i knew i was going to give it a good wax so i used quite a strong mix (almost 50/50). If i know a car is already waxed or isnt that dirty i'll use a much waeker mix (10/90)... if atall (sometimes just pre rinse with water)
  13. So i found myself with a free day today and the weather was nice and my car was VERY dirty... Products used: Autoglym (AG) Wheel Cleaner AG PM3 TFR AG Shampoo and Conditioner Sonus Der Wunder drying towel* AG Super Sheen AG Fast Glass AG Glass Polish AG Vinal and Rubber Care AG Super Resin Polish Gliptone Liquid Leather conditioner* Meguairs #7 Glaze* Collinite 476s* AG Rubber Cleaner No5 *Purchased and Available from Clean Your Car So some before shots... (click the thumbnials... thought id keep them small for a change) Real good strong wash with the PM3 TFR to get rid of all the grime. Dried and then polished with AG Super Resin. Then treated with the megs #7 glaze before applying 1 coat of collinite 476s (2nd coat will be done tomorrow or saturday) Tyres dressed.. windows cleaned. I actually treated the leather first thing this morning so gave it a quick wipe over to remove residue.. Final pics, reflections and beading. Cheers Nathan
  14. DOnt get me wrong.. power loss is one of the best swirl removers out there. but it comes with its risks as its gonna take the most amount of clear coat off the car. Personally i would start with something less abrassive to see if that does the job. Try the Intensive Polish. Its easier to use and wont take quite as much off. Also.. id try the megs cutting pad instead of the sonus one. The megs pads work very very well on the rotary. The balance easier than any pad i have used and dont generate too much heat and dont break up quickly. Ive been using the same set of megs pads for 4 or 5 cars now. (obvioously washed in between cars) There is nothing wrong with people doing DIY detailing... as long as they know exactly what their doing first :) the things you were suggesting would have probably worked fine.. but its all about minimising the risk of further damage.
  15. If you use Menzerna Power Gloss... be carefull.. its one of the most abrassive products out there... also you would need another polish on a softer pad to finish as first time round id be very very suprised if you get a good finish from the power gloss... its a really fussy product to use. Ideally finish with menzerna 106FF final finish polish. It has ALOT let cut and ill be easier to get a finish that doesnt have hologramming or buffer trails!! that yellow megs pad is actually a polishing pad ... you dont want to use that for sealant... infact i would apply sealand by hand. dont apply the collinite with the machine. You'll use way too much product! use a small hand foam applicator for the wax. do a panel at a time and then buff off after a few mins. I only ever use my rotary for defect removal. It doesnt have any use in applying sealant / glaze / wax. Using hand for these items in my opinion is alot better.
  16. very nice. tin of radiant wax sitting there i see. invaluable product!
  17. cool just need a mortgage to pay for fuel, insurance, road taxes some MP is bound to impose not to mention the car itself. surely it will retail for £80k plus?? the current S6 has been a huge flop though. No one likes the air suspension according to reviews i have read. a 4 month old one was for sale for £47k recently.. it was over £60k new!!
  18. new vr6 engines from VW aparently one is 280bhp and one is 300bhp Also an article from the new 3.6 vr6 passat http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sed ... en_passat/
  19. machine polishing is the way to get rid of swirl marks though. depending on the polish you use and your technique though you may leave holograms / buffer trails.
  20. personally i would go for the last one as the speed starts as 600rpm which is ideal fro spreading to polish. then turn up to 900 to work in for a couple of passes... then up to no more than 1500 for 5-10 passes.. then back to 900 for a final pass. i would never take it higher than 1500-1800 rpm.
  21. i split my megs bar into 3 equal sections and use one at a time. i probably use each piece on about 2-3 cars. After each panel it gets re folded (folding the dirty side in) and kneeded into a new ball then squashed for the next panel. After about 3 cars its dirty to the point that you cant expose a clean section anymore... then its into the bin and onto the next new bit of clay.
  22. Good evening everyone. just spent the best part of 8 hours doing this.. The car was a 2005 Meteorite Grey Aston Martin DB9. The owner had his own zymol set consisting of Concourse, Atlantique, Destiny and Vintage. After a bit of discussion we decided to go with destiny as it has better durability and the DB9 does get used a bit over winter. Also there were a few swirls but we decided to leave them until the summer as they werent too bad. Products used: Autoglym (AG) Wheel Cleaner AG PM3 TFR AG Shampoo and Conditioner Sonus Der Wunder drying towel* AG Super Sheen Zymol HD Cleanse Zymol Destiny AG Fast Glass AG Glass Polish AG Vinal and Rubber Care Gliptone Leather Cleaner* Gliptone Liquid Leather conditioner* Collinite 476s* Megs Last Touch* Megs Quick Clay AG Rubber Cleaner No5 *Purchased and Available from Clean Your Car Before shots.. So... wheels cleaner with AG Wheel Cleaner. Sprayed, Scrubbed with AG and Megs brushes, Rinsed... repeated 3 times per wheel as they were really dirty! Then the car was covered in a TFR mix and then rinsed before shampooing with AG shampoo and conditioner... a nice frothy mix again as you can see... Then onto the Megs Clay with Last Touch which brought up mild dirt on most panels. Then i actually went onto the interior so i could leave the Liquid Leather on for the maximum time. Vacuumed, Leather wiped with hot damp cloth, Cleaner worked into the leather with nail brush, left for 10-15 mins, wiped off again with hot damp cloth. The fed with the conditioner and left for the duration of the detail. Right... back to the exterior. Zymol HD Cleanse applied with a Pre Wax applicator in straight lines with medium - heavy pressure. Wiped off almost straight away (20 seconds or so). I admit this is a really easy product to use.... but.... not sure it gave a finish any better than that of AG SRP and Megs #7 glaze... sure smelt good though!! Few pics after the HDC Then the Destiny.... Cant say im into applying by hand still but again... smells amazing!! Applied thinly to a panel, left for a min or two and then removed with a MF cloth. The owner also wanted the wheels waxing so i used collinite 476s applied zymol style by hand. should protect them as good as any dedicated wheel wax! Then it was just a case of dressing the arches, tyres, wing mirror surrounds, glass and cleaning the tail pipes... Unfortunately due to the long day and the shortend daylight hours i was restricted to indoor artificialy lit shots. May pop back for some daylight shots though... or just take some when i go back to do his other cars. After shots.. All in all had a great day with a great car and enjoyed using the zymol products. Cheers for now. Nathan
  23. hhmmmmm nice wood.... Good luck with the project nice to hear everyone is singing haldex's praise now after it being panned not so long ago.... not proper 4wd etc. ;) Im in the process of doing the suspension on my S3. I THINK im going for H&R springs, Koni FSD Dampers, R32 rear ARB, H&R 10/15mm spacers.
  24. Anyone used these on there car? http://www.koni.com/FSD/index.html any coments or recommendations?
