the 2 plastic trim peices on the sides of the screen as far as im aware are glued in along with the screen so will have to be damaged upon removal, the rest can be re used aslong as there not stretched and damaged {no reason these should be damaged} all parts where still available at the dealers as of last late year
-
i think your be fine posting here as it benefits everyone, thanks for the pics, you have made it very clear now, doesnt look as bad as i originaly thought, even looking closer you wouldnt even have to remove the windscreen!! as the carbon just sits under the windscreen seal and not into the channel! so its not as much work as i thought!, will deffo consider this in the new year, cheers

you got a vr? if so dare rs will look very similar to mine on my old borbets , dare rs 9x16 et20 on the rear and 8j et 25 on 45profile tyres will sit very similar to this 9x16 et 15 up rear and 9x7.5 et 15 up front , the dimensions arent far off the dare's if you aint got a vr the wheels will stick further in slightly as the vr's have a wider axle track, should be able to fit just fine with no mods, although i did roll the rear arch slightly but seeing as the dare rs have et 20 they will stick further in by 5mm givein you more clearance , {if a vr} and even more clearance if not a vr ,

VW_OwneR_85 replied to MORRISFERGI's topic in Parts for Sale
sorry to hijack your post but dont think it will effect your sale , if anyone else wants one , i think i might sell mine as it doesnt get used at all and its just sitting there, i think £60 posted would be ok? postage is from guernsey in the channel islands so please bare that in mind, wont post it out untill new year, inbox me as i wont be looking back here again , tah -
LOL for some reason

the windscreens a b1tch to cut out, i would invest in this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trident-Knife-Type-Windscreen-Removal-Kit-/190302478355?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2c4ee96013 but yea wire works aswell, kicking it out from the inside isnt an option, the adhesive is very very strong, it simply wont fall off or peel off, on the older mk2 style screens where the seal is what keeps it in place that might be an option there but not here. you can compare the adhesive to panel bonding adhesive , it realy is that strong http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WINDSCREEN-FITTING-CUTTING-OUT-KNIFE-18-INCH-FOR-CUTTING-OUT-BELOW-DASHBOARD-/110881650713?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Other_Vehicle_Parts_Accessories_ET&hash=item19d10fb819

yea like i said that seal is there for appearance reasons it doesnt actualy do anything other then fill the gap between the shell and the windscreen to look neat, go ahead and pull yours out and check for rust damage, just dont stretch the rubber as it wont go back in properly if you do, the only way it would be leaking is if there is severe rust damage and waters getting in that way otherwise its a 100% water tight bond around the whole perimeter of the windscreen, or maybe the adhesives failed but i dought that very much, if it is rust damaged you need to have the screen cut out and then rust damage fixed, in which case if i was you i would atleast cut the screen out and clean everything up to save on labour costs,

cheers, i know someone localy that rebuilt a mk2 golf, had a full respray and the car never gets used! i mean ever!, kind of a waste realy, i guess he will end up selling it to someone for a fraction of the price hes put into and then they will enjoy the car like he should of done, doesnt seem right when you look at it that way...
-
this isnt aimed at anyone iv only read a few comments but imo far to many people are too anal about the look of paint these days and would rather break a car because of a rust patch and a few scratchs when infact they should just use the car and enjoy it as it is! i resprayed my car last year mainly to save it from rusting away and to invest in it but now its made me feel very differently about how i want to use the car, for example i cannot leave it alone in a car park! and it has to be locked up in my shed otherwise im paranoid about whos by it especialy on a fri/sat night when drunks are about, even though i did it myself it still cost around £500 to do and + my time , if i had of paid 2k for it i guess idd be even worse about it , i dont regret doing it as it looks awesome and i can now easily sell it for alot more then what i brought it for but part of me wishs i could have the corrado back where i didnt care what weather its driven in or where i park it or leave it. dodgey paint cars = fun and careless, so bare that in mind when your thinking about a 2k respray
-
yo,imo leave it alone, check the heater blower seal in the scuttle tray and the door seal + the door card membrane, the window seal doesnt actualy keep water out of the car , its a bonded screen and the adhesive which holds the screen down is what keeps it wind and water tight the actual seal is there for appearance. heres a shot of my mate applying the adhesive to my new screen ready for fitting , i had just finished the rust repair and respray
-
not on the corrado but on my mk2 golf i started to swap the 4into1 exhaust manifold back over to standard! what a pita! been putting it off for ages,
-
good luck m8 , i tryed for ages to find some , even had my m8 at the dealers try and find some and he couldnt even find them on the computer..
-
im guessing its an adhesion problem between the basecoat and the clear , aka lacquer peel!, only way to fix would be to sand back past the clearcoat and then re base it then clear it, think its best left to a bodyshop, i wouldnt put anything else on top of it as it will only cost you more in the long run to remove..
-
you bugger!!! yes you deffinatley have to give it ago now you said that! lol your be makeing bullet proof kevlar bonnets in no time
-
yea its all in the prep, so once that mould is made and aslong as its good it can be re used again so the second time around wont take so long, radovirgin go for it if you have the time and money, but how to videos all ways look easier then they are so i wouldnt expect it to be a breeze, if i was going to do it i think i would paint the parts body colour anyway, so i wonder if i would need to use the vacum pump + bag? i know that helps pull the resin around and get the air bubbles out but if im painting it all those imperfections can be filled, obviously the less air bubbles there are in the carbon fibre the stronger it is but im sure brushing the resin on the same way you do fibre glass would just be as strong it just wouldnt produce a show gloss finish on the finished side right? anyone know for sure if its ok to do that? edit: lol you brush the resin on anyway, and apparently you dont have to use a bag you just have to get as much air out as possible http://www.diycarbonfibre.co.uk/ tooling gel coat £15.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREEN-TOOLING-GELCOAT-1kg-KIT-Catalyst-Syringe-Included-FOR-FIBREGLASS-moulds-/251097355917?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item3a7691968d mould wax £12.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/600g-Yellow-Wax-Fillet-Block-for-Mould-Patterns-/220734703242?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item3364d0468a mould release agent = £10.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500ml-L-R-PVA-Mould-Release-Parting-Agent-For-Fibreglass-Mouldings-/310351657022?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item484266783e fibre glass for mould x2 @ £6.25 = £12.50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fibre-Glass-Mat-Matting-8-sq-ft-/300509821671?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item45f7c7fae7 resin+ hardner for mould & product = £30.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5kg-GENERAL-PURPOSE-FIBREGLASS-RESIN-HARDNER-CATALYST-SYRINGE-KIT-MOULD-/251037798104?pt=UK_Crafts_Other_Crafts_EH&hash=item3a7304ced8 + a few extra bits n bobs like good quality brushs that dont leave brissels behind! so you should be able to make a decent wing sized mould for aroud £80.00 and then its just a case of adding the carbon which looks to be about another £70.00 for a wing, so your looking at gambleing around £150 to make a wing sized product, + your time, probably other things needed that iv missed aswell, or there complete mould makeing kit http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/products/starter-kits/uni-mould-complete-mould-making-kit.aspx

yours is leaking how mine is, i dought its the rear drain as there further back from that area, i remember picking at some adhesive when it was out so maybe it was blocking a hole like yours , although i remember it to be ok and not full of holes,
-
heres that guide to make a bonnet, doesnt look bad ,but you just need to gamble/invest in consumables and materials mould starter kit @ £80 http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/products/starter-kits/uni-mould-complete-mould-making-kit.aspx
-
looks funky although idd prefer leather in that area, iv thought about haven a bash at maken carbon stuff although the price of it is to much for me to gamble on,would love a carbon bonnet and maybe front wings,,,
-
, yea i see what you mean but to me that just doesnt make sense, i.e im driving down the road and old man billy side swipes me then my car and his car automaticly becomes the property of our insurance companys? . glad your loven the new raddo ;)
-
Guys luckily iv never been in this situation so iv never had to deal with insurance that way but whats the crack with you having to buy your car back? its your car! im guessing its there car if you agree and recieve the insurance payout though? and then you have the option to buy it back from them? this correct? cheers ps if my corrado got front ended and the chassis wasnt effected i would source another wing, bonnet, bumper etc and keep it on the roads! replaceing a front end is stupidly easy to not do this
-
wow blady good info there! so what vehicles use the 312 caliper carriers ? r32 right? anything else? also im guessing the discs are from the same car?, and the 6mm m12 spacers is that to space the caliper bolts out? or the caliper carrier bolts? thanks
-
i had something similar on my old mk3 golf, if you were indicateing and you braked the indicators would stop ,if you did that with the headlights on the indicators would reverse themselfs, turned out to the passenger rear light connections were corroded.
-
just fill it up and run it, must be a small leak, small enough to leak but not drip, water pump, crack pipe, thermostat housing, core plug, theres a few places, have you checked the dipstick for signs of oil/water mix ?
-
yea slide it fully into the roof so basicly you open your door and stand on the sill and from above you just have a good inspection at the gutters/drains from above outside , yea roof liner slides out from the boot, its not hard , you just need to remove the trim peices that holds it up , like the sun visors, grab handles etc etc , just think if its out though you can give it a good clean and maybe dye it black ? ;)
