  1. Remove the passenger side parcel shelf (about half a dozen screws). You then should see the fan in the corner of the footwell. To remove it you just simply twist the fan off the assembly. From my experience greasing the fan up to get rid of a noise does not last too long. They start making noises if the bearings have worn out. Only real cure is to buy a new fan - about £40 from ECP. HTH Cheers Mark
  2. I never use Citygate VW in Watford for servicing my C anymore - basically very rude, very unhelpful, didn't have a clue what they were on about (they reckoned you had to remove the cylinder head to replace the cambelt! ), and too damn expensive. Their parts department were amoungst the rudest people I have ever come across when I was buying some suspension bits for the C a year ago. Wayside in Stevenage on the otherhand seem to be very helpfull and polite - they always phone you back if they said they would. Citygate in Colindale seem okay, but the parts department there is always really busy. HTH Cheers Mark
  3. Welcome back to Corrado ownership  Pearl green ay? A great colour, as long as you keep it clean I take it you'll be showing it off at the CCGB AGM at Gaydon on the 7th March? Cheers Mark

  5. Removing the old orange reflector was quite difficult as it was molded into the black casing. Bits of it chipped off fairly easy, but there were bits left over that just would not want to part company cleanly with the surround. I ended up using a dremel to grind the rest of it off! I actually tried to use orange LED bulbs with the lights (from volksbits), but for some reason they flashed at an alarming rate (I think they draw naff all current so that might be the reason). They were also very dim when viewed from an angle. I ended up exchanging the bulbs for some silvertec ones which work great, and I now use these in my FK lights. Here's a pic of the said 'homemade' lights Cheers Mark
  6. Ah yes, I did the removing the orange reflector section 'mod' about 2 years ago on an old set of lights. I used a flourescent lighting filter from Wickes, and bent the plastic around using a heat gun. I bonded the plastic to the lights using epoxy resin. It didn't look too bad at the time as there were no in-pros available. I had some problems with leaking eventually and so bought the FK lights when they came out. I'll see if I can dig out a picture of how they turned out. Cheers Mark
  7. Here's a pic of the Fk half smoked lights on my C. HTH Mark
  8. Funny that - I had the same place fit a powerflow exhaust to mine, and found the guys in there to be a right bunch of slap-dash monkeys. It took them 3 separate visits to finally stop the damn thing banging on the rear axle. :x They ended up remaking and bending the whole section over the axle to sort it. Sure, they were friendly enough, but that was only because they knew if I wasn't happy I would spread the bad news. I am now very happy with the exhaust though, not too Nova / saxo noisey, just a nice subtle burble which is only a frazz louder than stock. HTH Cheers Mark
  9. FK's are excellent - make sure you spend the extra and go for the fully-adjustables (konigsports). Nice comfy ride when set to softest damping, but then make sure you have enough arch clearance to take the big bounces, or you will scrub your tyres to pieces  .
  10. Might sound a daft question, but where is the coolant level sensor - is it actually in the expansion tank? Reason I ask is that I have topped up my coolant level, but the bloody light is still flashing on the dash. Car is a 2.0 16V BTW.
  11. Thanks for the nice comments kuksool :D. Yeah I reckon the wheels suit the Corrado nicely - they look like something VW would have chosen to go on the car, and they look very similar to the VW anniversary wheels fitted to late spec MK3 Golfs. I think the 2.0 16V stopped production in 1995, but you'll find some 1996 examples around because they would have been sitting around in dealers waitng to be registered. If you can find one of those then that would be really cool - a P plate Corrado 8) Cheers Mark
  12. The Corrado 2.0 16V engine is different to the MK3 Golf 16V, not sure why :? The Corrado 2.0 16V is the 9A engine used in the Passat (136 BHP). I think the MK3 Golf 16V gave a better BHP than that, but I don't have the figures to hand. The Golf 16V would be quicker in the straight bits, the Corrado would catch it up on the twisties
  13. Just to add my tuppence to the thread, I agree with DTM - I had a MK2 8V GTi before the C, the car felt great just pottering around town in because of the low down torque, but the 2.0 16V Corrado just blows it into next week performance wise out on the open road Some people reckon the 2.0 16V is sluggish, but I reckon with a drilled airbox and a Stainless exhaust it's an absolute cracker of an engine. I've never believed the 0 - 60 times quoted for the car, it's certainly feels quicker than 9 secs to 60, I would say more like 8 - 8.5. Keeeching! Cheers Mark
  14. Here's another thumbs up for Gavin (H100VW) - Good quality headlight loom that arrived very promptly via recorded delivery. You will wonder how you ever did without one. Thoroughly recommended :thumbleft:

    Steering

Could be worn steering balljoints, wheel alignment or tyre pressures. HTH Mark
  16. Noo, can't be then - I live in Watford Fields (near the High Steet station). I've seen loads of C's in Watford, and used to see a Pearl Blue VR everyday coming back from work along the Aldenham Road - never got a wave once though :? Keep your eyes peeled for me now heading up the M1, round the M25, and up the A1 to Stevenage where I now work. Cheers Mark
  17. I'm also from Watford. Yeah, a meet would be cool 8) Cheers Mark
  18. That's what I thought - maybe some 16V's got fitted with parts from the VR6 parts bin :?
  19. My C is currently as Yaash motorsport to get a new rack fitted. I got the recon rack from Euro Carparts (part no. 603440011), and the guys at Yaash phoned me earlier saying it doesn't fit! Apparently the UJ's dont line up on the steering colomn. It appears that the rack I need is the one fitted to the VR6 (more expensive :( ) So just a word of warning if any of you guys get this part from ECP - check which rack you have first, as it seems their computer is wrong in some cases. Cheers Mark
  20. See here: http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5124 Sounds a wee bit overpriced to me - most 1.8 16V's in good nick seem to fetch about 2.5K. HTH Cheers Mark
  21. I dredd to think how much the rubber is on those - I just shelled out £320 for a set of Yokos in 17 inch :(
  22. Looking forward to receiving mine soon Gavin - the cheques in the post
  23. Yeah I had the same problems too! I had to highlight the text on the registering page to find out what it said!
  24. Paint codes are here. http://www.corradoclub.co.uk/tectips.html HTH Cheers Mark
  25. I think he must mean 150 K miles, not 15 K miles! Probably stolen recovered, hence the locks. Still a good buy for someone though that's after a nice cheap base for a project :)
