  1. Yep, insurance companies will do anything to wriggle out of a claim, so don't give them a chance! I even heard of some poor chap in a MK2 8v Gti that they refused a claim on because he had fitted a beesting aerial!
  2. Yeah saw your TT dash at Woburn - well what can I say - top job mate  I was really surprised it took you so little time to install, but having the climate controls already in I suppose helped somewhat? What next then - quattro 4WD? Cheers Mark
  3. Admiral was the best for me. They didn't add on silly amounts for my modifications when they were done as well. £630, fully comp. Age 33, 9 years NCB, 3 points on licence. All mods declared - lights, exhaust, wheels, suspension. I also live in a reasonably high risk area. Elephant.co.uk were quite close to Admiral too. AA were pants (£1000 +) HIC and Adrian Flux could not match Admirals quote. HTH. Cheers Mark
  4. This what you mean?
  5. Official launch car = it's been ragged to death by a load of motoring jurno's (and probably Tiff Nedell as well  )
  6. Ant - a cheaper alternative to BBS RX is Stilauto racing - as seen on my car
  7. No offense ment Markos - I guess we were just as guilty for blindly following you! :salute: See you at Woburn then? Cheers Mark
  8. Ahem - I was only doing 70 mph ociffer  Yeah that person that took the wrong turning, well I won't name names - oh all right then I will! - MARKOS. Still it was a laugh trying to catch up with the rest of them That gave the 16V a good old spanking  I can't make it to this one though - the G.F's birthday the day before so I may be still over the limit on the Sunday (and maybe Monday  ) Cheers Mark
  9. I think Red, white and Yellow cars suffer from the dredded 'paint fade' more than the other colours. I've seen some red Corrado's that look pink  Having said that, a nice shiny Red C with good paint looks the knuts IMO. White and Yellow are just less popular colours than the metallic's and black - I think it's the same for all cars really. Cheers Mark
  10. 87K and the drivers seat is worn? That sounds a bit iffy to me - my car has done near on 120K and the seats look almost new :) . You usually see a bit of wear on the bolster nearest the drivers door on high mileage cars - or if they have been driven by fat blokes  As Scott says - you shouldn't let the high mileage put you off if it's been looked after. 16V's actually get FASTER as the mileage increases Cheers Mark
  11. Bally - sounds like you can do alot better than that. Also, it being a white car should make it even cheaper as they are alot harder to sell. keep looking and don't be tempted to rush into anything - there are plenty of good ones out there for sale! Cheers Mark
  12. £2400 so far  - I may be tempted to bid myself! - or is that just being greedy Jim? Service history looks a bit iffy - but the car looks in great condition. Nice colour too... Cheers Mark
  13. The issue I'm refering to is September 2003 - it might be a while 'til you see it on the other side of the pond  Cheers Mark
  14. Just got the latest edition of 'that comic' as the GF calls it. Glad to see a sorted Corrado on the front cover for a change - none other than Bluslc's stunning Phat SLC. Well done mate - It's certainly the best car in there this month 8) Cheers Mark

    power steering?

My power steering feels VERY light all the time! Maybe it's stuck permanently in parking mode  I know my rack is worn though, so maybe it will change when I get a recon one fitted? Some chap on the Yahoo list reckons you can adjust a worn rack on the Corrado to take up some slack - anyone know how I can do this? Cheers Mark
  16. Sounds cool - I'm up for it Cheers Mark
  17. Beetlebug_2001 - the VW Corrado Club of GB Scottish region website has a great article on doing this mod - http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Go to the downloads section on the site. I've done this mod to my 2.0 16V - it sounds awesome when you floor it (great for scaring pedestrians!). You wont notice much improvement on performance though. HTH Cheers Mark
  18. Cheers Bally - and good luck in selling your motor and Corrado hunting.
  19. 2.5 years. Audi TT 225 Coupe should be with me this time next year though :) Cheers Mark
  20. Go for the 2.0 16V - It has better midrange torque. The 1.8 is marginally faster - if you like revving the knackers out of your car. The 2.0 had the revised interior - only minor changes like switchgear and the instrument cluster were changed though. The exterior got the revised bumpers and bonnet that the VR6 also wears. Problems? Make sure the cambelt has been done at the 60K intervals. Check for a rattling Cat heatsheild - it will be a sort of buzzing noise coming from the back of the engine at certain parts of the rev range. Check the heater controls function correctly - turn the direction knob(screen, face and feet) and check it doesn't feel tight (or very loose if it's totally broken!). Check all electrics - spoiler, roof, mirrors, windows. Check for play in steering rack etc. All usual things - check for blue smoke, white smoke, mayo in the oil filler cap, oil in the expansion tank etc. HTH Cheers Mark (2.0 16V - 118K)
  21. 118K - plenty more miles left in her

    suspension

I have the FK Konigsports too - and I'm also running 17 inch rims with 40 series tyres. The ride quality is superb - and the car is decked pretty low. Okay so it's not like a limo for ride quality, but then Limo's handle like a boat. It's well worth going for damping adjustable coilovers - you can really improve the balance of the car by 'firming-up' the fronts, and leaving the back ones a bit softer. I don't know much about other brands - but Koni Coilovers are supposed to be good, as well as Bilstein. HTH Cheers Mark
  23. The car looks great as it is - IMO hatch spoilers don't look right on the C (apart from the OE one of course), but it's your car  Cheers Mark
  24. Funny you should say that Ant - I was also going to suggest a meet-up at Toddington services! See you there! Cheers Mark
  25. I drilled my airbox a few weeks ago, and I'm getting roughly the same MPG as before (about 25 around town, 35 on motorways)- and that's with me flooring every time I hit a nice stretch of open road  Cheers Mark
