1.8 16V's are quicker than the 2.0, but you have to rev them more to appreciate the difference. The 2.0 has better torque which makes for a more relaxing drive. If you do go for a 2.0 16V, make sure it has the later spec interior, as some early examples (pre August 92) have the old spec. Cheers Mark

I was havin' a good look at your 'banana' at E38 too - I was trying to work out if it was a G60 or 16V? Looks very nice BTW :thumbleft: Cheers Mark

:porc: ugly IMO. dazzyvr6 - try subscribing to PVW, it's well worth it as you get a free binder, and it's delivered to your door a full day before it hit's the shops 8) http://www.unity-media.co.uk/index.asp?c=pvw

Good god - that's brings back memories of the X-pack Capri! Cheers Mark

I've had some BAD experiences with the St Albans branch, I had to go back three times to get them to sort out the powerflow exhaust system - first time it was banging on the axle, second time blowing from centre pipe :( Cheers Mark

Nice to meet you too Jim. It's always nice to put faces and cars to names on the forum. I know you feel a bit miffed about paying too much for your G60, but from what I could see you still got a really nice example there for the price you paid. I agree, the turnout was poor on Saturday, but it was still definetely worth turning up for - only £6 entry was a bonus. :D I'll post pics later too. Cheers Mark

change the oil cooler (about £40), and flush the coolant system. I wouldn't drive the car as you may risk getting water in the oil system. Cheers Mark

I'm thinking of going to this on Saturday - anyone else from the forum up for it? Cheers Mark

I've always quite liked the Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 Lusso - a very nice looking car, and very quick too. I've heard the Italian build quality is a bit iffy though

Try replacing the expansion tank cap - if the valve is faulty in the cap then the pressure in the system in released, which causes the water to boil. They are less than a tenner so it's worth a go  HTH Cheers Mark

It scares me to think what I would do If I caught some little $hit tampering with my car - the law is an ass though - as shown in the Farmer Tony Martin case :x

I have just got a Corrado and named it Leia

 I love those star wars innuendos - 'princess-lay-her' and 'hand-solo' Welcome to the forum mate  cheers Mark -
Mostly get 300 miles in town, and about 400 miles on the Motorway. Giving the car some stick never seems to make much difference to my MPG :) cheers Mark

Just got the latest PVW (October issue) - and guess who has a feature, that ugly Mk4 Golf fronted C that was on e-bay a while ago. I'll have to admit though, even though it's not to my taste, it has been executed very well considering it's a one off body kit. Those rear brake ducts just look daft though. I just don't think the car was very worthy of a full feature :? Cheers mark

volksbits also do the silvertech bulbs - there's always an ad' in PVW for the details. I've got them in mine, and look much better than the orange bulbs you get with the FKs. Cheers Mark

I'd be up for a set, but would prefer silver or black, as I think white dials look a bit 'nova-boy' ish. On the subject of the needles, I think I saw something on the Vortex about illuminating them from behind using a very bright white LED. The light just propagates along the needle. I'll see if I can find the article and post it later. Cheers Mark

Some people will tell you that the 1.8 16V is a bit quicker - personally I don't think there's much in it. I was following a 1.8 in my 2.0 on the way back from Woburn, and I was more than a match for him! Cheers Mark

It could be a good base for a project car - 20V turbo engine, nice wheels, respray and coilovers and you're well away for about 7K all in... :)

I've got Fk Konigsport's - nowt wrong with the ride quality at all! Obviously the lower you go the harder the ride gets - but that goes for any coilover system. I haven't driven or been in a car with the Koni's so can't say if it's better or worse, but I CAN recommend the FK's - top quality. HTH Mark

I agree with dr_mat - take it from me, the later style controls are very flimsy (mine broke about a year ago). They are made of plastic, and not very good quality plastic at that! If you really want to do it I would guess you would need the complete dash as that would make the fitment easier (you would also have the updated vents and switches then). Why not try something even better - climatronic from a MK4 Golf or even a TT dash like James Renshaw :?:

Talking of new beetle...

Flippin' eck Ant - that's a serious amount of folding stuff your car is consuming! Still, you can't take it with you when you die (the car and the money  ) Cheers Mark

Thanks Chris - nice to meet you too. The T-shirt and the '2cc' in the window were a nice touch  Cheers Mark
