well in sunny Borehamwood, Herts (about 0.5 mile from the Big Brother house) it's reading 28 degrees :onfire: Both fans (radiator and interior) are on full pelt  Cheers Mark

Well I thought as I started this thread, I better tell you lot how I've got on  After 2 months on order and lots of :agrue: with the dealer, I've finally got the passenger side wiper blade  Fitted them 10 minutes ago and.... wahey!...what a difference! I went for the 2 x drivers side arms, and 1 x driver and 1 x passenger setup BTW. Cheers Mark

It'll be rude not to if it's in the London(ish) area  - so count me in. Cheers Mark

Yeah the heater controls are dead flimsy - the earlier style dash with the MK2 Golf heater was much more robust. I might have a go at trying to make the dial illumination a bit brighter when I get round to it - maybe a brighter bulb or something. Good luck fixing the heater direction Knob! Cheers Mark

So the paint melts the chrome bit?- that's worth knowing as I was going to spray mine this weekend  Did you use plastic primer before you sprayed it? Looks like In-pro are doing the black casing now - some guys in the states have these:
-
You're probably right about them smoking the In-pro ones - but I'm pleased they did it for me as I would have probably made a mess of the job myself  kevhaywire - you did a good job on yours mate - alot better than some smoked ones I've seen that have dull paint. Did you paint the chrome surround in matt black? Cheers Mark
-
This happened to mine too - and then the spindle sheared off! My advice would be to grease the cables - they are a pain to get to, but it should fix the problem. Don't whatever you do force the dial - I did this and you know what happened! The cog that is connected to the cables has a PLASTIC spindle - flimsy as hell and just waiting to go bang! HTH Cheers Mark

Yeah spraying the chrome bits black is on my 'to do' list - I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to leak before I started changing them. It's been raining here on and off since the weekend and they seem fine Cheers Mark
-
Looks like I've been diddled out of some serious amount of cash then - 189 Euros is about £134 - damn  It's a bit weird that the normal clear / red ones are 339 Euros (£242) Cheers Mark
-
Got them from Gwent VW Audi - apparently they were being sold for £230 on the Saturday so looks like going on the Sunday was worth while  Cheers Mark
-
Got these at inters for £180, and just fitted them (it wouldn't stop raining here  ). I think they look quite good - what do you guys think? Cheers Mark

Darren - The car came with the original Estorils on it - which were in very bad condition. I bought the Stilauto's brand new from Tyresave - £750 including tyres balancing and delivery. Cheers Mark
-
Here you go then - Stilauto 'Racing' 7.5 x 17. 205/40/17 Falken ZR rated tyres. Car is lowered on FK Konigsport Coilovers. Cheers Mark

Just phoned my local stealer (Shittygate in Colindale) - still no passenger side wiper blades in the Country - he checked with all the other dealers too. Looks like the Germans are hanging on to them for themselves  So now it's been nearly 2 MONTHS     Cheers Mark (still with pants OE wipers  )

I got my Fk's from the original group buy (through ASIM) - they were NOT cheaper than £500 - pretty close though  I would definetely replace the top mounts and bearings (ask Asim for the Word doc that has all the part numbers). Polysport wishbone bushes are also well worth doing as well to get the best out of the new setup (get them from rally design http://www.raldes.co.uk/ - ask for the MK2 Golf ones). ARB bushes I'm not sure about - I changed mine for standard ones as I heard they are quite good anyway. HTH Mark

Try http://www.eurocarparts.com - or maybe a scrapyard? Cheers Mark
-
The lights suit the car very well :thumbleft: I was at Yaash Motorsport the other day, and they were showing me the new FK half smoked jobbies - they looked pretty good on their demo car. I'll be adding these to my 'must-have' list.
-
Yeah this is very scary when it happens - it's almost certainly the belt slipping. The splash guard is there on mine and it still happens occasionally  Cheers Mark
-
Thanks for that 33Hz - I'll give it a try. I take it you have tried adjusting the rears then - have you set them a bit harder or just left them at the softest setting? I heard somewhere that leaving the rears to their softest and adjusting the fronts to 'one turn towards firm' is the best comprimise for everyday use. Cheers Mark
-
I prefer the second one too - but the first one don't look too bad really! I'm prefer multispoke or mesh wheels myself - even though they are more of a pain to clean  Cheers Mark
-
I wouldn't say it is softer than OE - perhaps a tad firmer. The lower you go the firmer the ride gets as well. I'm not sure you could have a 30 mm drop with FKs - I think the minimum drop for the VR setup is 45 mm. I think you could indeed get a similar feel using H&R / Koni TA, but you'll probably be thinking afterwards that you should have spent the extra £150 for the coilovers :? The great advantage with the coilovers is that you can get the stance exactly how you want it - no fiddling around with lowering caps etc. HTH Cheers Mark
-
The TT shifter looks excellent! :thumbleft: Did you use the instructions from the Canadian Corrado Club website? Cheers Mark
-
The coilovers should take about 2 hours to fit. It would be quicker than that if you bought new topmounts and bearings for the front - you then don't need to dismantle the old assembly. I would advise buying new topmounts anyway (unless your current ones are nearly new). You also need to get the tracking and camber adjusted once you have settled on the ride height you are happy with. The FKs took about 300-400 miles to soften-up. Once they have you can play around with the damping adjustment - though that's easier said than done on the rears because of the parcel shelf supports being in the way! I can't see that adding coilovers will de-value your storm - it's pretty close to OE shocks/springs for comfort if you don't slam the ride height, and you set the damping to the softest setting. It's sooooo much better than OE for handling though- which should suit the nose heavy VR quite well. HTH Cheers Mark 2.0 16V

I've got FK Konigsport coilovers on mine - fully adjustable (height and damping) with Koni inserts (lifetime warranty). Superb quality, very comfy (once bedded in), awesome handling and very cheap! Thoroughly recommended. You can buy them at Yaash Motorsport - http://www.yaash.co.uk I can't tell you how much I paid for them as I got them through the Yahoo group 'Group Buy' for a seroiusly low price. H & R are supposed to be good - but they are not damping adjustable, just ride height. Koni Coilovers are basically the same as the FKs, but you pay extra for the name. HTH Cheers Mark
