This is going to be a mega meet-up if we all turn up - 2001 at Donny was wicked - I'd never seen so many Corrados in one place before! Anyone for a London region convoy up there? Cheers Mark

Very nice mate :thumbleft: It Looks like a different colour to my pearl green 16V - or is it just the light that the picture was taken in? Cheers Mark (pearl green paint code LC6V)

Look what the new Audi TT 3.2 is wearing then... Apparently BOSCH are making these blades now, so hopefully will be able to buy them in Halfords. Cheers Mark

Good lord that front looks wrong on a C :clown: . I wonder if he realised that after doing it and that's why he wants to get rid of it? I've just been on the Vortex site - some of those Yanks actually LIKE it! http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=932372 Cheers Mark

Try Yaash Motorsport in Wembley (http://www.yaash.co.uk) They did a top job on my suspension/oil cooler/bushes :D Cheers Mark

I agree with vr6storm, I would wait for the coilovers if I were you. I had a cheap lowering kit on mine (Bilstein streetline kit). The ride was, well, choppy and harsh to say the least. I bought some FK coilovers to replace them, and wow the difference in ride quality is night and day. You can get the Konigsports (height and damping adjustable) for about £500 if you haggle a bit and know where to try... HTH Cheers Mark

Green Pearl effect if you are interested (LC6V)... This green looks slightly blue in certain lights. Cheers Mark

You're welcome - all part of the service matey  Don't ask me for any advice on the engine mods though  Cheers Mark

whats louder than a Miltec or Magnex ehaust for a VR6?
markTTC replied to Rams's topic in Engine Bay
I know someone that has a Janspeed system on their 16V - very loud (a bit too loud IMO but then I'm an old fart  ). Cheers Mark -
If I remember rightly there is a module where the connector plugs into on the motor that controls the speeds - this won't be on the brand new unit unless you specify it needing one. IMO you shouldn't buy a second hand one - treat the C to a new one and it's job done for another 100K miles  HTH Cheers Mark

Sounds like the bearings have given up on the motor, and possibly burnt out a winding or two in the process. The motor is very easy to replace. Remove the passenger side shelf below the glovebox (i think there is about half a dozen screws). You will then see the motor towards the corner of the footwell. To remove it you have to CAREFULLY bend a tab up (it's made of plastic) so that you can twist the whole motor assembly off (turn anti-clockwise looking from above). I think they are about £40 new from GSF - Mk2 Golf ones fit BTW. HTH Cheers Mark

Looks like a worth while mod :thumbleft: - did you buy a ready made loom or lash it up with some relays and wire? Cheers Mark

My word, this thread is turning into a right bun-fight  Thought I'd interject at this point and come up with the pros and cons of the 16V (compared to the G60 and VR) Pros: Cheaper insurance Better MPG (so i've read, but I only get about 26 MPG) Cheaper to maintain and service (no charger rebuilds here) Better handling than a VR in standard form (I know this from experience of actually driving them BTW) Can be lowered by a greater amount due to the sump being higher than a VR Cons: Gets blown away by most Saxos and Pugs. Needs to be reved to about 3500 + to get the thing to shift. Getting more power out can be expensive (Ask Alex) Engine can sound a bit rough when reved hard Can't think of much more. ching! - my 0.289 euros cheers Mark

Bit difficult to tell really, because the car is so low  - but I had a quick look this morning and they looked almost straight, possibly a couple of degrees pointing upwards (from diff to wheel). Yes, I know the arguments for 'going past the parallel postion' on the driveshafts, but the handling seems fine to me :D Cheers Mark

C'mon all you C 8-valve owners where are you???
markTTC replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
I guess it would seem slow compared to a G60, and you would probably think my 16V was slow too compared to yours - it's what you are used to I suppose - once you get a more powerful car there's no going back. Cheers Mark -

I believe Mark Baker has an 8V - he bought some FK coilovers on the same group buy as me. From what I've heard about these, they are not as bad as you think really - the 8V engine has loads of low down torque so is great if you don't want to rev lots. The downside being that the C is very heavy, and needs more grunt in the BHP stakes. If I remember rightly there are 8 of these Cs in the CCGB membership list. Cheers Mark -
Yeah go for the FKs (konigsports) - They are very good IMO, and lifetime warranty on the dampers which is worth having. You may be able to get a good deal on these at Yaash Motorsport http://www.yaash.co.uk Cheer Mark

Mines decked about 65 mm - check my homepage for pictures. I'm not sure which model you have, as this can make a difference to how much you can get away with. You may run into problems with the VR6 with the sump hitting speed bumps or steep ramps if you lower it past about 50 mm - maybe someone else can comment on this as I have got a 16V. The problems I have had are the following: Front wheel catches the inner arch on full lock - not a major problem, some people even remove the plastic inner arch trim to get round this - but this may leave you more prone to the dredded tin worm. Front spoiler (deep 90 mm one) will catch on speed bumps. I replaced mine with a 50 mm one (later spec item). You may need spacers on the rear wheels to stop the spring seat making contact with the inner wheel or tyre - but this may depend on the offset of your wheels or type of coilovers used. I've used 6 mm spacers and now it's fine. If you have a big bore exhaust this may start hitting the rear axle if you go too low  - very annoying, but I solved this problem by cable-tying a piece of rubber to the axle under the exhaust. No other problems really - apart from slightly worse tramlining on some roads. HTH Cheers Mark

Hey I've got that Freur album too - on good old vinyl. The shot of the band on the back cover always makes me chuckle - a classic example of 80's fashion looking ridiculous now (welding goggles, PVC jumpsuits, and BIG hair!). Cheers Mark
-
The first one looks very 'bolt-on' - which doesn't suit the Corrado too well. The 3 bar badgeless one looks good to me - would probably look even better colour coded and with a Kamei grill spoiler. Cheers Mark
-
How about this grill - I'm not sure how the chrome would work with the Corrado though

I'm looking at getting one of the following in the next year or so, lets hope nothing else goes wrong with the C to dent my funds: Audi TT 225 Coupe Mercedes SLK 230 TVR Cerbera Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 24V Lusso Audi S3 Cheers Mark
