hahaha four different keys!! looks like I might have to butcher my old door handles to get the tumblers out then

mine has an EXCESSIVE rattle if you accelerate hard from 3k revs.. sounds like it's the clocks vibrating :shrug:

Thanks for clarifying stone £45 sounds on the expensive side for a key, so if this is the problem then I'll be getting the new barrel with new set of keys. The doors are de-locked, so it's only the boot that would need re-tumbling - havn't got the first clue how that might be done.. how can you get the pins for doing this?

did he provide you with the latches that he was using? if so they'll probably fit just fine another little tip - the screw that holds the driver's door handle on is sometimes a left-hand thread! nearly snapped mine off before realising :clap:

hmm interesting, how would reccommend diagnosing whether it's the lock barrel or the steering lock at fault?

de-locking the doors using passat rears is eaaaasy - but make sure you get mechs the passat mechs (I think i remember dremelling out the child locks too)

actually thinking about it i have one or two critisism about the avital: - the 'anti-tamper' box is a strong steel box but was held together with tie wraps!! :bonk: - it seems to think the doors have been left open if you turn off the turn-on-light-when-door-opens-thing?

my Avital alarm doesn't give me many problems so can't complain - i think the quality of an alarm system is alot to do with how well it's wired in

nope, didn't bother me when i bought the car but now they've introduced the new MOT regulations it needs replacing :@ suppose a light-fingered deviant might of been at it in the past, i've got reciepts for new window glass/dash fascia/stereo!! not sure if they had a go at the ignition, there's no obvious damage oh dear, REALLY hope i don't need a new steering column.. as simple as using google? awesome, I'll get doing that now. thanks

wiring looms are scary... where did you get that braiding kit you've got? great thread

fixed mine by swapping the driver's bolster for the passenger's right bloster, which is identical and usually in good nick. while the passengers side was out i used it as a template to cut out a new bolster to put in the passengers side - took a few attempts, but foam is cheap and i'm happy with the results ;)
