  1. i did the g clamp method with the pedal up ...after youve bled it , confirm the pedal is rock hard with the clamp on then remove it and bolt it back together
  2. a tip i found for bleeding is to remove the slave and tie it up , use a large g clamp or some way of holding the rod all the way in bleed with the pressure bleeder , give the slave a tap to release any bubbles it should now be spot on , if the pedal isnt rock hard with it still clamped then theres a m/c problem
  3. 1mm cutting disc in a angle grinder does it
  4. spongey means air in the system still...an external spring one should be okay but shouldnt contact the beam
  5. not sure if its still the case but years ago merc injectors were a direct fit upgrade for these , better because theyre brass, maybe worth a look? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-Coupe-80-90-100-200-5-Cylinder-K-Jet-Lower-Fuel-Injector-Insert-035133554-/181650742122?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a4b3a5b6a think thats em , you need some o rings too
  6. the 4 main ones are just held in with rubber o rings , a gentle pry with a large screwdriver should pop them out id suggest you buy all new seals and injector inserts as theyre often gone britle , you will need a 13mm hex key to install the inserts , the injectors just push in with a firm shove the 5th injector isnt the same and shouldnt need replacing
  7. yeah try it with ur foot flat on the floor next time it does it , mines always restarted but a few times its took long enough to make me think it wouldnt
  8. wet battery shouldnt cause it ive always found my kr very funny if you dont start it right first time or stall it when cold it can be alkward to restart id go with a good service , new plugs , dizzy cap etc ..and if it does happen again try starting it with your foot flat on the accelerator
  9. see if the facebook bloke is willing to show you round a head he's done , if theres nothing to hide then im sure he might pull a valve so you can see the work
  10. worth checking ...its not hard to do
  11. golf g60 are the same fitting but be aware they were all lhd if you go on the hel site you can spec you own hose for £25
  12. id check the cam timing , ign timing and try a boost gauge to confirm its boosting like it ought to
  13. next time stay away from the extractors as theyre much harder to drill and its just made the job worse id suggest you take it along to some local engineering firms , they will be able to drill it out and fit a insert if required
  14. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5820143-DIY-02A-gt-02J-Shifter-conversation-for-VR6-SLC-Cars get the ibiza cupra shifter theres no need to swap the polo housing on like in that how to
  15. yeah no welding at all its a straight swap i tried for years to improve /sort out mine and it was never any good
  16. thing is those towers werent a very good design when new , they redesigned it a few times in those years , then add 20 years of wear to it it wont be great
  17. its all a straight swap if you get the ibiza/polo gearstick housing - say a easy mornings work with basic tools you need the gearstick and housing , tower , cables and bracket from a o2j car also then allows you to use the audi tt short shifter or an ebay one
  18. worst case new bolt and drill it out to epoxy glue one of these in there at each end http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Metric_Plain_Oilite__Bearings-1158-c
  19. does look sloppy ..cant recall if theres a bush you can replace there ? possibly some chance you fit a slim washer between the tower and bracket to help a bit best thing you can ever do is sling that and fit the o2j stuff off a mk4 era vw
  20. get on some golf forums ...mk2 golf 16v is the same engine try ed38 , clubgti
  21. yeah theyre a bolt on job no bother , just make sure the injector inserts and seals are new as old ones will be brittle
  22. need the hose that runs from the temp sender housing down the water pump and oil cooler , so 3x outlets im told its no longer available mk3 gti is similar but longer due to being 2.0ltr , mk2 8v is differant any ideas
