  1. dont turn it with the cam pully..use the bottom pulley check it ..then double check it before starting it
  2. was a 1300 golf gearbox mount back in the day...bigger engines were hyro and 1300 had solid rubber , not sure what aftermarket ones are now
  3. take the big pulley off that looks like this will leave it looking like this
  4. the lower pulleys are the biggest pain ...the allen head bolts are keen to round off given half the chance , so hammer the socket in with a sharp tap to make sure its seated the crank pulley is just the 4 allen heads..not the 19mm in the center
  5. dont need a locking tool yes straightforward enough with basic tool ..not a bad job at all
  6. all the ones ive had repaired have been fine for years , rather my genuine stuff repaired than use some ecp tat i guess it depends whats wrong , chances are its the brushes worn down
  7. you can likley get it repaired for a fraction of that cost
  8. it might ..like i said its re setting it be the rich side of the factory allowance , so some cars might already be there , others might be at the weak side of things i stood and watched stealth do it and its exactly what he did , then re set the idel c/o and take a power run on the rolling road , no witch craft magic as some like to suggest you can tinker with the timing and try 8-9 degrees if you know how to listen for pinking
  9. you need some fuel pressure gauges , hook em up and the drill the anti tamper cover on the rear of the wur and this ajusts the pressure from memory the book quotes pressure should be between x and y , you ajust it to the richest end of whats acceptable , i can look it up sometime if you want to try it take a note of the orig pressure reading so you can convert back to how it was
  10. theres a cam belt timing guide on the engine page at the top inside notch lines up with the head surface or gasket depending on who you ask outside of the pully has 2 dots...shove a pointer/screwdriver through between the 2 and it should line up the v shape on the rocker cover if you look carefull in the pic bottom end..use the flywheel marking viewed through the timing cover , once its right turn the engine over by hand and recheck until happy
  11. yeah a tooth out would cause this kinda problem be aware it needs the ign timing set a certain way so make the mechanic knows these cars
  12. once your sure the cam belt marks line up properly , you would need to run the car up and set the ign timing by using a strobe light its set at 2000-2500 revs with the blue temp sender off
  13. if the rotor arm is stuck on ..make sure the new one is the right part then crush the old one with pliers to get it off
  14. get the rotor arm as well..and pay keen attention to the leads when swapping them onto the new cap , its easy to get mixed up
  15. can you hear the pump prime when you work the ign key ? maybe give the fuel pump relay a tap or bridge it temp to see if it works
  16. id suggest you use non braided line , that way any defects /cracks show up and are not hidden by the braid but yes you can use plain hose , but you will need to make a longer loop to do the same job
  17. handy to know theyre avail id really like to see affordable boost hoses , with proper spec for rallye/ non rallye etc
  18. no...i did try it once and it made it super jerky to drive
  19. will see if i notice anything with the revs being 2500 or more ive tried a few chips and theyre all the same with the bucking , so im fairly confident its not a poor chip engine mounts are recent with a front vibratech one
  20. yep switch is good..thanks for posting
  21. my g60 has always bucked when coasting under 60mph say for instance you see a traffic light or slower car ahead and take your foot off the gas , it will buck /jerk like a mofo until you dip the clutch checked all the obvious , everything is in good order , ive also ran differant ecu chip and they all do the same so that rules out the chip its stock except chip/pully , decat , carbon can delete any ideas please
  22. http://www.powersteeringstore.co.uk/index.htm he does the pump ones..i thought you wanted engine bay ones
  23. hel that advertise on clubgti make pipes , but theyre far from original looking id be peeved to have to use them on my car , but if needs must then they will get you on the road again
