    Hot hot hot vr6

I've changed the rad (for a euro car parts special admittedly - which i was disappointed with as its thinner than the original but was all i could get at the time), water pump, aux pump, all sensors apart from the brown one in the housing. And i've done a flush. Is there a bleed point on the cooling system anywhere? I think i'll change the stat and housing anyway cus it looks original and quite scabby!?

    Hot hot hot vr6

My VR is really peeing me off now, I have replaced most of the cooling system and it still runs up to 110 on the coolant temp gauge and upto 116-118 oil temp. As far as i'm concerned thats too hot to make for relaxed journeys! The only thing i haven't replaced is my thermostat + housing. My fans run a treat according to the definitive cooling guide. Am I damned to a life of driving a C on the edge of overheating/burnt oil/warped head or is there something wrong with my thermostat?
  3. Yeah I love Star Wars, I recently bought the Blu-ray box set, just got to ep.3 which was great in hi-def (i don't hate on the prequels like some fans:smug:). Looking forward to seeing the originals in hd! ---------- Post added at 06:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:15 PM ---------- Last night I watched a Korean film called 'I saw the Devil' which was pretty brutal tbh, very well acted though and a must watch for thriller/horror/foreign cinema fans 9/10
  4. I agree with abdul, ride height showed those solitudes in a new light :thumbleft:
  5. SUPER - 9/10 very funny but also darker than I was expecting. I recommend it highly -it's 6 quid on blu-ray and 4 quid on dvd in morrisons too!
  6. Jeez you are lucky, good to see you escaped unharmed, do you think abs would of helped in this situation? I locked up the brakes on my mk2 a couple of times (although it was my stupidity in those cases) and its a scary feeling, but that must of been a whole new level of fear!
  7. Deffo be up for a pair of yellows if this happens
  8. Today I fitted a new waterpump (this was £75 from ford for a genuine pump as I work there - if anyone on here from Glos area wants vr6 engine bits I pay cost plus 10% so they work out about half price! pm me...you'll have to collect though, I live in Quedgeley). Anyhow the reason I was fitting the pump is 'cause my vr runs way bloody hot..like 110 in traffic and my oil on motorway can go up to 120! I have so far changed; Rad, aux pump, all coolant temp sensors so I thought i'd change the pump as it looked old and i heard the originals break up, took it out....all the vanes on the pump were fine so i changed it anyway and now it 'seems' to be running a bit cooler. I still need to find some heavy traffic to be sure. I also fitted my new vibratechnics front mount, so now my motor doesn't feel like it's on a mission to mars but still more movement than i'd anticipated...so a bittersweet day but thats c ownership hey dudes? (and dude-ettes - is that right? Who knows?) Lewis
  9. I had a Vibratechnics front mount! :thumbleft:
  10. You should bleed from furthest from the reservoir to nearest. Sometimes though a manual bleed with a pressure bleeder attached is all that works. Sometimes.
  11. I'll go, it'll be nice to put faces to comments! (if that makes sense?!)
  12. Thanks Cazza you're a genius! Cleaned my ISV out and found a suspect looking chunk of blue foam in one of the pipes, starts and idles sweetly now, and it's cost me nothing!
  13. Was thinking it might have been me but that was a friday, so I should have been at work then. I have seen another blackberry one in gloucester though!
  14. Can anybody help me? I sometimes have a very loud sort of sneezing sound from my vr when starting, like a build up of pressure releasing, it immediately stops the car cranking and then starts fine. This has been happening since I have owned the car but happens only intermittently. When I had an alarm fitted recently they were coding in the key with ign on/off/on ect. and they reckon the plastic idle vacuum chamber thing just exploded! They replaced it though and it's still happening. The last time it happened it wouldn't hold its idle very well and the rev's were dropping too low, which now is the case every time I start it from cold, until it warms up very slightly (drive about 200m) then it's fine.
  15. Spotted a white vr6 heading into Quedgeley, Glos about 5pm today...think you were wearing a hat? Or poss just big hair.
  16. I saw this one too, at quedgeley lights a few saturdays ago, then saw a lowered blackberry one about 2 mins later on cole avenue! Was beginning to think i'd never see another in glos area!

    Front engine mount

Have you checked the two rear mount's? If they are tired there may be too much stress on the front under load.

    1995 aerial base

Hi all, looking for a good aerial base for late corrado (larger base with just one clip-in aerial connection). Or just the seal that surrounds the base as mine is broken and looks rubbish!
  19. Yeah it's pretty easy, be very careful when pulling the old one out though because the if the rubber boot is broken the rod can fall into the bell housing and then you have to remove the box!
  20. I was doing a coolant flush on my pal's 1.8t golf, flush in, ran it up to temp then got under the car to drain it from the rad tap...fresh pant's time! Luckily just scolded my arm although my face wasn't too far away! Corrado look's nice in white!

    The Rising

Awesome job on the engine bay cleaning! Looks ready for the showroom!
  22. I just replaced my rad, and mine also now runs slightly hotter (up to 110 in traffic where it was previously around 100). I tried to get a genuine rad but vw dealer said it was obsolete. I then got one from euro car parts which was made in brazil and was thinner than the original rad which was quite chunky. Therefore I think it's running hot because it's cooling less coolant at any given time and also now obviously holds less coolant (which is pants). I'm gonna flush out my coolant system and replace the thermostat and housing and possibly waterpump as I dont think it was originally intended to run so hot.
  23. I sold my '93 95000m vr6 for £4000 last summer. It was a lovely car but not concours and I actually managed to sell it twice 'cus I nearly cried when the first buyer left. So with half the mileage if its a bit of a beauty then yeah as these guys said I wouldn't take less than £5500-6000!
  24. I have the exact same issue, i have replaced the yellow (black) sender the aux pump and the rad fan switch which leaves me with just the fan control unit. Although some people say late vr's don't run the aux pump unless either ignition on or temp requires it.
