1. Yeah, I'm done with trying to make old cars drive like new cars, just need to enjoy it for what it is.
2. Similar plan to me mate, I've got a Shrick VGI which and also a de-cat and a 3.68 final drive ready to go on so that should make for better usage of the power band it already has.
3. It was bought by a chap form VR6OC, will be going on his MK3 as a stage 2 upgrade. Sounds like he is building a bit of a beast :) Borachris - I have no idea what the part number is or if it fits, I bought the kit all as one set for the VR6 and so it is all just in bags in a box. I know the thermostat plate is Mocal, the fitting kit in Mocal and the cooler itself is APS. It also has the pipes needed too. So everything you need is in there. Call it £110 quid and it's yours (Massive discount considering it is brand new, never used)

5. I'd really like a Z4M Coupe....and to keep the Corrado but £££££!
6. You're totally right Kev, SC is not good on the VR6. I'm also saying that VRT is also not a perfect solution, I've had 27 cars since I past my test, most modified so I've done little remaps through to big turbos....all good fun but all ended in a massive financial loss and ultimately not being satisfied due to all the compromises. Basically I like my Corrados fairly standard and if I want 400bhp then I'll buy a car that was designed with 400bhp :)
7. Last night I took the charger kit off the car, only took 3 hours which is not bad at all. Went back to standard air box as well just for extra OEM goodness. Although my ECU is running a map that Vince did for the car pre-charger It drives so much better, it is slower but it FEELS more alive. Pick up from low revs is better and overall it is balanced. Miss the top end surge a bit from the charger but this is much better to driver overall. In my case it's not about VRT vs SC, I've had big turbo cars already and they have their own issues.....dangerous torque steer, gearbox failures and heat related engine bay damage (plastic parts getting fried) I agree that if you want 300-400bhp in a Corrado then VRT is the way to go but....who the F would want a 400bhp C? it's a 20 yr old car and handles like one (I say that as I've had every VW chassis from 1972 beetle through MK1 to MK7) By the time the MK5 came out, the Corrado was well and truly beaten on real handling (not for feel though, they feel great to drive!) I've come to the conclusion that I like the way an NA Corrado drives. My car is a nice example, FSH and mint throughout so I don't want to ruin it by pursuing the modification bug. If I want 400bhp+ I'd just buy an M5 :)
8. Quick update....the charger is sold pending final payment but decent deposit paid so fingers crossed all is good. Have mixed feelings as while I liked it 50% of the time, I also disliked it in equal measure. Going to be installing the SHRICK VGI in a few weeks but for now I'm returning the car back to standard on the engine front. Will be looking to take the car back to a much more OEM vibe soon, may even put the refurbed Solitudes on but that may be going too far :) Managed to find some 8mm hub centric spacers that will let me run the RH cups without rubbing in the back...or looking too tucked. Will post pics soon
9. Autoglass did mine too, almost 2 years on and no issues
10. DEPOSIT taken.....final payment pending 2 weeks time. Still have the oil cooler and boost gauge but the rest is spoken for. Thrown in postage on these last items to help get them sold. Brand new APS 16 row oil cooler with Mocal thermostat plate, fitting kit etc (cost £160) - £130 delivered Corrado vent mounted dash pod mounted with an auto meter (green illumination) boost gauge plus vac pipes etc - £50 posted
11. Cheers Tomi, afraid mine is a coil back one but the RPM switch I bought from Summit racing does exactly the same thing as the Baker one, both have been used on the Vortex.
12. Actually scratch that, the next page tells me what I needed anyway......impatient! Cheers Ron
13. Jamie, I think you just provided me with what I needed. The link you sent has another thread thathttp://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5865940-Flap-not-opening-on-a-schrick-help that mentions the RPM controller switching on a + feed to the solenoid at 4000 from the Dizzy version of the ECU (pin 48) so the RPM controller replicates this. What I need to know now is which pin is which on the solenoid, I am guessing one goes to the RPM switch line for + feed and the other goes to earth. Could someone with a VSR tell me what their solenoid in connected to? one pin should go to 48 on the ECU and I need to know where the other goes? also which pin on the solenoid goes to pin 48 on the ECU.
14. Thanks Jamie, been calling him and calling him.....no answer
15. That would be great mate, I have the instructions and they literally just say plug white wire into solenoid, so no good to me. What I need to know is what the wires to the solenoid actually do, is the controller switching a voltage on or earthing at 4000 rpm.
16. Thanks man! that is the problem....Kev says "White wires to Shrick controller" but this only has 1 of them? but other people on the web have said they used this controller (unfortunately all their threads are about 8-10 years old!)
17. Firstly, please don't say talk to Vince at Stealth as he can sort it......I live 250 miles from them and as good as they are....I have called him twice and email and got no response so I just want to do most things myself :) I've managed to source the VW vacuum reservoir (from a TDI) and also the vacuum control solenoid. Looking on the web I've found that most people who have had to replace an RPM controller have gone for this onehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350805813031?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Which is actually the Summit racing one. So here's the question..... The RPM controller has 1 white wire coming out of it to go to the solenoid, the solenoid has 2 pins and so I have no idea how this works. Does the other pin just go to ground? or positive? Help would be much appreciated.
18. Oh Jesus, no idea mate ;) I just checked the spec with Vince and stealth and he said the spec was good to go with my set up? Data is 339cc @ 3 bar or 237g/min ( Approx 315-320cc @ 3 bar petrol depending on fuel grade ) Will flow a lot more at 4bar (corrado regulator) Bosch Part Number 0 280 150 785 EV1 type with pintle type discharge orifice. 14.5 Ohms These Are HIGH IMPEDANCE injectors Basically these are 30lb injectors as recommended for 8-12 psi applications
19. Hi guys, videos are here: Cold start - Driving - First start from when it was fitted last year - Stu, will only sell the pulley separately if someone buys just the stage 1 kits, most enquirers have also said they want the stage 2 pulley and injectors if they buy. Will let you know mate! Cheers Ron
20. Power on this kit as stage 1 should be about 250bhp as stage 2, 270-280bhp Fitting is easy enough for a reasonably skilled home mechanic. I have full instructions and can talk you through it. Hardest bit is removing the sump and all the work can be done on a set of axle stands or ramps. Absolute doddle to fit if you have access to a ramp. Cheers Ron
21. I've just come from TFSI back to VR6, TFSI is in most parts outside the realms of DIY for most people. Also not that rewarding an engine to work on as it is so solid. I've had 2, an early 2006 and a latest TSI, I did DIY on my first one with fitting a Ko4 turbo, auto tech fuel pump, intake and down pipe. Made just over 300bhp for about £2500 worth of mods (£2500 for 100bhp is good value!) The TSI was even better value. Full manifold back exhaust, ITG intake and a Shark stage 2 map cost £1500 and yielded 276bhp(76bhp for £1500) Savage low down power as you say, also the TSI i had was DSG which made it really quick......but boring as F***
22. Vortech V9 supercharger kit for sale as now going for a change of direction for my car. Never been 100% happy about modding it as it is a very nice example with FSH etc http://atomhawk.com/webpackages/corrado/corrado08.jpg So I am going to take it back to standard on the engine but fit a shtick VGI that I scored. Kit is 100% complete, stage 1 6psi and can be heard running on my car if needed, I also have videos on you tube etc. Vortech V9 charger and st1 pulley - previous owner tells me less that 5k miles and certainly looks it, polished finish and no oil leaks etc Obd1 charge pipe, fabricated by MB motorsport. Obd1 chip mapped by Stealth racing Silicone/ALU charger inlet pipe, neoprene extension pipe to relocate MAF for smooth running Cone filter and Bosch DV (4 month old) Brand new (4 month old) vag sump with oil return line boss welded in. All charger brackets, connectors, bolts, pipes and feed lines are present. Continental Charger belt with about 1000 miles on it, plus a spare brand new continental belt. Catch can kit also included (3 month old) Base kit £1800 (almost all parts are brand new, and comes with mapped chip for an AG ecu vr6) Extras: can be bought separately: Vent mounted dash pod mounted with an auto meter boost gauge plus vac pipes etc - £50 Stage 2 pulley, never used and brand new, would need injectors and a remap to make 8psi - £70 Bosch uprated injectors for stage 2 (brand new refurbed by Bavaria Werks and still in packaging) - £110 Brand new APS 16 row oil cooler with Mocal thermostat plate, fitting kit etc (cost £160) £135 PM for details
23. Yeah, really worth the effort for a £4000 car :)
