1. Ratchet idea sounds good, I've pushed and pushed with a normal screwdriver and no joy :( Also one more quick question, does the glove box need to come out in order to remove the dash?
2. Stuck on the last screw in the centre console, the one at the top inside the Left vent (centre section I've stereo) Can't shift the bugger as the screw driver goes in at an angle, any ideas?
3. No idea how old the matrix is. Certainly older than 10 yrs as I've got all the history from 2002 onwards. I'm really not keen on doing it but like you say, it's a lot easier to do now than once it is all back together.
4. More dash stripping action tonight, scary stuff. I just need to keep track of all the tiny bits! Anyone know of any extra jobs I should do while it's all out? Just wondering if I should do the bloody heater matrix while I'm in there :( Something to cheer me up arrived...stage II
5. I sent the order but at the last moment I asked him to check that the centre horns we have are 100% compatible with this wheel. While it looks like the same wheel in the pic, it has a different part no so I wanted to be sure. Should know tomorrow and finalise the order, but they are saved for us for now.
6. You are going to wish you had taken the door handles and aerial off, ripe locations for some lacquer peel at a later date :(
7. I lines all the mating surfaces, so the edgeof the card where it meets the door, there the handles and speakers fit into the door. Basically anywhere that there are two surfaces touching that are not glued together. Seems to work well. I'm using Dinitrol 3125HS which is a wax selant and rust inhibitor in one http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-rust-products/dinitrol/dinitrol-3125-hs-1-litre.html I've been lucky in that aside from the front wing that I replaced, my car is (touch wood) rust free so I'm ensuring it stays that way :)
8. Just to update the list, I have been paid by: Adrian B Matt R James T Sean J Judith
9. Hi folks, so far 6 people have either paid or said they are paying this morning. Only 1 left

11. Heya mate, Yep I'm already onto the felt, did my front cards and gear handbrake trim about a year ago and it works very well. Now getting onto the rest, whilst also filling bodywork with wax.
12. Thanks guys, Clumpy is sorting me out but if for any reason it goes wrong, I'll let you guys know!
13. I've been holding off on a number of jobs that involve stripping out the interior, at the weekend I decide to get off my arse and make a start. Pretty daunting really as there are so many small parts. I'm planning on..... Fitting heated seat loom - my interior is heated but my car didn't originally come with it. Replace heater controls as the directional knob is stuck Tidy up the wiring properly in the dash and remove the old tracker box, ice wiring etc (I made a start when I first bought the car but only got half way) Treat all the cavities to Ditrinol rust protection, the sills, A pillars, rear arches Replace all the broken clips that are causing rattles, felt line all the joins Repair drivers seat foam, gone soft Fit the Dave16v short shifter So quite a lot to be getting on with :) first I took the seats out and tested the wiring loom that was made for me by another forum member I plan to make plugs for the bottom of the seats....just need to work out how ;) Success, a warm backside. It all works! Then I started removing the rest of the interior. Good opportunity to clean all the bodywork under the carpets and Hoover all the dust from the corners. Also going to re-paint my spare wheel as it is a little rusty in places. So many tiny screws and bits of plastic :(
14. UPDATE - OK so Paypal allows you to pay in a currency and it does the exchange for you, no fees. VW will accept a paypal payment. It is showing that 180 euros is £155 So the cost is going to be £155 + postage If you guys can paypal me 180 euros (you can select the currency) or £155 then there shouldn't be any mucking about later. Just extra payments for £10 for those who want it delivering. PM me for paypal details......we only have 7 reserved and the deadline for orders is 1pm tomorrow Buying direct via their website would be 180 euros plus 27 euros postage. 207 euros is £178.28 so we are saving 13.28 for those who want delivery and £23.28 for those collecting from me
15. So at the moment, looking at the exchange rate, they should work out at about £150 but you never get the true exchange rate as the bank will hit me with a fee for paying in euros and the bank rate doesn't match the true rate. So I am taking payments of £150 now via paypal (deadline is 1pm tomorrow) then I will order as they are holding 7 wheels for us. Once I have paid, I'll know what my bank has really charged and then I will ask everyone to send a me a couple of quid more to cover that and any delivery fees (some folks want to collect from me) and delivery is going to be about £10 It is not a massive saving but buying from them direct would cost each of us about £180 delivered, where as the group buy works out at about £165 delivered. Saving £10 to £15. I cant give an exact price as the exchange rate is fluctuating all the time and also there are bank fees. Cheers Ron
16. I'm afraid the centre isn't available, they dont have any at all :( Peter says he will hold all of them for us until the end of the day tomorrow, so I need to make the order tomorrow afternoon. I am going to set a deadline of 1pm tomorrow (Thursday the 16th) on orders. Please PM me for paypal details. Final price is going to vary a little due to exchange rates etc but 180 euros is roughly £150 which is a bloody bargain, I'll probably get stung a fee on my card of some kind. Postage is going to be about £10. If this is agreeable, can people paypal me £150, then once I have paid I can see the actual cost on my card (inc bank fee) and follow up with the cost of postage plus any extra owed to me? I suspect they are going to end up costing about £153-£155 tops + postage
17. OK guys, here is the deal. There are only 7 left in stock and then that's it, no more wheels unless they start making them again. I have reserved all of them for now but he says he can't hold them forever. They wont discount any more that the list price as aparently they were 455 euros up until recently when the price was slashed to clear warehouse space. They will send them all to one address for free. Which basically means we save the 26 euro postage that we'd pay from the website, but it will still cost about £10 for me to send them out from my place to each of you. Total saving is about £10 which is not great. So if peoople want to save £10, then I'll need you guys to paypal me and then I'll order. Or I can just tell them we're not bothered and if you want one, you can order from their website. Sorry folks, I tried my best Ron
18. Guys, They have confirmed that this is 100% a leather Corrado VR6 wheel, I sent them pics etc I am also finding out if the centre of the wheel in available too as mine is a little shiny where a previous owner has been resting their fingers. I am now in process of sorting out a deal, so far they are only offering us free delivery but I'm hoping for a bit more :) I think haveing an idea of numbers for them would be good as I can see that selling us 4 wheels is no big deal but if we can get 10, they may want to consider more of a discount. Once I have a definitive price, I'll start a group buy thread but for now can you PM me if you are interested. So far I have Me (Hofmiester) Portant Sean_Jaymo fendervg Jim Goldie dr_mat Rob So that is 8 already Thank Ron
19. Good idea, let me sort the steering wheels out and then I'll see if we can neg an overall club discount
20. I've also got a Green slam panel, might be Dragon Green though. FOC if you want it but I am way up North in Newcastle
21. Sweet, if one of you guys can get us a phone number or email addy from them then i am happy to sort out a group buy, see what price we can get for different amounts. Saving on delivery by buying together is a £20 saving!
22. Hi Torsten, Good news! did you write to them in German or English? If it is English then I am happy to help organise a group buy if you can get them to send you an email of phone number I can call them on. Cheers Ron
23. No longer for sale, going to give stage 2 a whirl ;)
