Great, thanks folk!

Thanks for the info chaps, do I need a press to get OE ones on? Or can I improvise a tool (metal each side and a bolt to tighten and squeeze in)?

I've got my fuel tank off while I sort the straps out and check for rust. Now it is up on stands, I'm thinking I may do the read axle bushes as well. Looks to be 2 round bushes (one on either side) I've read that replacing with poly ones is easier, any negative effects? should I stick with OEM? Any help is much appreciated. Ron

Jesus, you've been busy while I was away. Looking good mate! I've got mine in bits again too :(

Ideally don't want to have to refurb but let me know what you've got.

Anyone know about MK2 limited editions?

Few more pics of the usual rusty places, that are not rusty. There are a few very small bubbles appearing at the bottom edge of the windscreen but an easy fix. Especially as I'll probably have to repaint that area anyway after reversing the wiper conversion. -

Hmmmm I am starting to think this could be a restoration project instead. It has some ropey bits like the single wiper conversion is horrid and it has a nasty Magnex exhaust. But the rest is OE apart from the engine being from a MK3.....although it seems to be standard spec with an original airbox etc. I paid £1000 for it, does that seem like an OK price? Interior is very good, bolsters are shot but the fabric is fine. Headlining is starting to sag and the sunroof is bust. -

Cheers Bill, very hard to find any information on this car. What I don't want to do is start tearing it apart, only to find out it was some kind of special model that I've trashed :) -
I took a punt and bought a Mk2 GTI 3dr yesterday, blind from eBay :) It was cheap-ish and I planned to strip it to make a track car. eBay ad was terrible, no description really. Turns out to be nowhere near as bad as it could have been. Can't find any rot and it has full history and all past MOTs, seems high spec with electric windows and PAS. It's fitted with a 2.0 engine from an MK3. It's a 1991 car and also has some strange badges "edition blue" and seems to be an odd colour for MK2, paint code is moonlight blue? Any ideas what this car is? Also seems to be complete apart from after market wheels.

How much has been spent on your Corrado over the past 10 years?
Hofmiester replied to andygal's topic in General Car Chat
About £4k in last 2yrs and thats with me doing most of my own labour. Would have been double that using garages! -
Being really honest , I'm about to get grief for saying this..... I recently bought an audi s4 b8 and had it tuned by MRC to 485bhp and 600nm. It basically kills almost everything on the road and the 4wd means you can drive it like a total bell end and it's fine.....just fine...no drama I thought this would be the case and the Corrado would fill the gap for the touchy feely go kart stuff. The truth is when I drive the Corrado it now feels like an antique. Slow, harsh and the steering feel....while better, doesn't make up for the rest of it. I'm seriously thinking that I might sell up if it wasn't for my love of it, for no reason other than nostalgia.

Yeah I'm afraid I agree with OSV, debadged grill is a bit ...."king of the council estate" :)

Not had much time on the forum lately, so just having a mosey to see how you are getting on......Wow looking good mate!

A glove box light please mate, I'll PM you

Wow, I bought one of these from VW heritage last year for £12.95

Looking good!

I was so paranoid about rust after having a new screen on mine that I filled the groove around the windscreen with Dinitrol rust inhibitor, cavity wax. Then refitted the rubber seal. Any gaps in the seal will have been filled as the Dinitrol is a "creeping" gap filler and rust inhibitor.

Father in law has scraped his motor :(

Not a Corrado, just had my S4 B8 tweaked at MRC!

I think the 12C was capable, the guy driving it was the limit but I must say I was frightened, big speeds come up fast in this thing. -

It's is savage mate, 485bhp and 600nm torque through 4wd, feels break neck in 2nd and 3rd. I have a little run near me down a *private* slip road. Corrado when SC'd would get to the end and be doing about 70mph from a standstill. When it is running NA and VGI it's doing about 60mph, the S4 is doing well over 100mph by that point. Doesn't feel as agile as the C though, while grippy in the twisties, it is a bit wallowey. C feels like a go kart in comparison! -

Yesterday AM I had a little "dabble" against a McClaren 12C (which has about 140bhp more and the same torque) the guy obviously was driving at his limit and not the car....but he was gutted. We got to silly speeds pretty quickly and I was right behind him the whole way.......he looked bloody stunned :) -

Me too, only things I do choose is the cars :) I've been lucky, always wanted a proper fast and fairly new car. I left school at 16, worked hard and now I'm nearly 40 I'm starting to see the returns before I have to start worrying about putting the kids through Uni (if they go) and retirement etc -
