Seen a few recently. 1) A very low dark green VR A1* VWW, seen you before ages ago too (on the same stretch of road) on the A6 in Stockport at 8.40 am but can't remember what day it was. You pulled out and followed down the bus lane and then the back roads to escape the queuing traffic. 2) Then yesterday morning just before 11am spotted a dark H reg about 3 cars behind me on the A6 and I turned off towards the B&Q so didn't get a close look. 3) About 10.30 this morning spotted a blackberry or twilight violet C on the approach to the M60 roundabout near the pyramid in Stockport with some large wheels. Looked a bit like slot's car maybe... 4)Finally just seen a storm parked five minutes from my house N317 *** I guess that's me done for the year then!

Dubsport have created an almost 500hp 4x4 Rado VR!!!!!
vr6corrado replied to g60Dazzaman's topic in General Car Chat
I remember seeing this in their car park months ago and yep it was totally standard apart from no badges to indicate engine size or variant and one of the first things that struck me was how bad the wheels were! -
Ice grey violet m reg think it was a VR, reg might have been M18 *** around 12.30 this afternoon on the A6 just north of Stockport, I waved but not sure if the driver saw.
-
He went to VW and ran the reg no through their system and found out it has VW main dealer service history til 1997 at 77k, hence I reckon its real mileage will be around 150k. A20 LEE, let me know if your mate is interested. Cheers.

Cheers for the replies guys (and happy new year!). I will speak to him tomorrow and see what he says. Didn't think of ringing vw - must have some early VWSH. Will let you know what he says.

Sorry if this in the wrong place, but I know a bloke selling his '92 K reg VR6. I think it's aqua blue. He put it on Autotrader recently and some of you may have seen it on there. Worst bits first: No service history, 71k but definitely been clocked hence no old MOTs either. Noisy timing chains. Not sure if there are any HPI check problems so I told him to get that checked asap. It has some 17" multi spoke alloys and yellow brake calipers (??). It has been lowered and I don't think its just springs as it is quite low but it was too dark for me to see the shocks properly. I did see the rear shocks were red but I also recall some VR's had red rear shocks as standard? Interior is ok except the bolster on the driver's seat needs repair and there is some kind of security lock on the transmission tunnel by the gear lever so the surround with the Karmann badge on is damaged. It has no airbox or carbon cannister but an induction kit made by a company I've never heard of. Bodywork is actually very good other than the ubiquitous stone chips on the front bumper and I reckon its had a respray. It actually drives ok although he said he could feel the difference straight away when he drove mine I thought it seemed to pull fine though. Also there is a round Scorpion exhaust fitted. Poor guy bought it without knowing much about C's and seems to have been put off them. So all in all not great but he wants to get rid - spent £600 on it for the MOT recently - MOT til Nov 2005 and tax til end of April. Any ideas what he should ask for?

Battery light on, squealing noise and no power steering!
vr6corrado replied to vr6corrado's topic in Engine Bay
Spot on. It was indeed the belt tensioner bearing! :) I'm happy it wasn't something more complex. -

Cheers - let's see how resourceful my garage is! -

Yeah I remember the RAc guy mentioning something has seized, its not the belt itself. Does the engine has to come out to get to the alternator bearings? -
I had to call the RAC out as my battery light came on, I lost power steering and there was a whine coming from the alternator/water pump region. The RAC guy reckoned it could be either the water pump, alternator or power steering pump (unlikely?). Can anyone narrow it down or does it have to be looked at? It's due in the garage later today and am I right in understanding any of these three require the engine to be jacked up? Obviously I'm going to have to change the belt but is there anything else I should get done at the same time? Cheers

naa- friend of mine has just traded up from his S2 to an RS2......and paid £11K......beautiful! However, you can pick up S2s from as little as £3k and with just a couple of hundred bring them up from 220/230 to 280bhp. 4WD. Turbo. Audi. S3s are gorgeous - but imho arn't worth it yet (well to me at least - but then I'm pikey!) Is it rhd? It's not the silver one that was on ebay a short while ago?
-
That blue is called ming blue I think! Personally if I had the money I would by an Audi RS2 315bhp standard in a 4wd drive estate built by Porsche. Imagine the looks on people's faces as you blast past them  But a good rhd model would be about £17-19k i reckon. Admittedly it wouldn't be moving to a newer car though.

Hmm I have recently been considering alternatives to my VR and have read all the above but I'm somewhat surprised the 200sx doesn't get more than a mere mention. The reliability seems very alluring. Does anyone have much experience of them?

Spotted just after 9am yesterday morning heading north on the A6 in Stockport - a dark low 'rado A18 *** got a flash and a wave.
-
Hello and welcome, good choice! What are those wheels?
-
Scott try Hyde Road Tyres on Hyde Rd - surprisingly enough - just south of Manchester city centre, haven't got the number to hand now but will post it tomorrow hopefully.

Thats not a good start  :) :)

Blue M reg VR6 parked just off the A34 near Manchester Royal Infirmary about 3.30 this afternoon, anyone here?

Hi julesz, I have one. As MoonlightVR says, there is no point getting the radar module - goes off at the new puffin crossings and automatic doors! Plus you can only have the laser module *or* the radar module connected at any one time. I would suggest mounting it as Asim and I have done but if you're after a more discreet installation the best place would be the cubby hole below the heater controls/ashtray. IIRC the mounting bracket swivels through 90 degrees so you can mount it on a flat surface or a vertical surface. Mine only displays road number when a camera is detected although you can find your GPS co-ordinates at any given time via the menus. Hope this helps.
-
Unfortunately just seen this now - too late but probably couldn't have done it anyway although mine is standard apart from rear lights.
-
By the way I think the new style Clifford fobs will also work with your alarm so try and a set of those.
-
I have an origin B2 and you can mount the display anywhere you want but the GPS antenna must have 'sight' of the sky. Also the laser detector is windscreen mounted but its not very intrusive, you can even mount it behind the rear view mirror.

The best price I was quoted was £250 for four Goodyear F1's fully inclusive but unfortunately they didn't have them in stock and when they rang Goodyear were told they had been replaced by the NCT5. Anyway I have ended up with four Michelin Exalto tyres for £260. Good price and from a reputable place! WIll let you know how I get on.

I had mine done at Dubsport recently. came to just over £150 for the 20,000 mile service and they seem to know their stuff.
