  1. That'll be it then, also on the way... I'd have them but I don't think they'd go quite so well with blackberry :camp:
  2. I wouldn't mind a carbon trim panel but the car's in at the garage on Tuesday and I need to find out how much cash I'll have haemorrhaged away first... Any more pics of the carbon and satin black fibreglass ones fitted to cars? Cheers Stone
  3. Yes it was, now I can see your avatar! What wheels are they btw? Look really nice on - in fact I said something like 'Wow those wheels are bright - hey, they're on a Corrado!' :D Was probably about half-past 2 around Boscombe somewhere, we were heading from Lymington over to the Tank Museum. I'm not a local so I may have been a bit out... Stone
  4. Had a bit of an alarming incident today (ABS inop, damp road, didn't spot a junction ahead, going too fast, powerslide all the way over. Luckily nothing coming! :help:) so after a quick change of underwear I'm going to sort the brakes out next! It's a VR6, I'm pretty sure the front disks are standard 280mm and the rears are the tiny normal ones. If I fit 288/312s to the front can I reuse my old calipers and disks on the rear, or do I have to do all four? I need a rear wheel bearing doing anyway so I might as well get it all sorted at the same time... Cheers, Stone
  5. I saw one around Bournemouth somewhere on Saturday after heading down to Beaulieu - was expecting them to come but they didn't... White with very distinctive dayglo orange rims. I was in my mates boring Ford so I didn't wave, looked very smart though! Stone
  6. Good fun and lovely to see so many Corrados in one place! :) Quite gratified that the only other blackberry VR6 was also an auto... It did make me want to replace everything with carbon bits though...must resist...!
  7. Top tip! Didn't know which bits would still be available (it's just the clip that broke, immediately after the driver's side catch failed to release...) Probably best to fix it all at once, though I'd be pretty upset if I only needed the clip and had to buy a whole cable to get one! Is it Corrado specific or do I have to use one of the Golf ones? Stone
  8. Quick as possible please, mine's snapped and it's due in the garage on Tuesday... (for a late spec VR6) Cash waiting! :thumbleft:
  9. Bloody typical, now my bonnet release has gone! There's a tiny metal clip on the release handle which holds the outside of the cable - mine's snapped, so pulling the release just pulls the whole cable through from the engine bay. If someone's got one lying around I'd be eternally grateful if they could bring it to swap for some beer tokens :thumbleft:
  10. Cheers for this - mine is doing the same thing. Temp gauge stays stuck at the bottom of the scale for a loooong time; even after a good thrashing it only rises by a couple of mm (indicating 75ish). The fans don't come on at all and I can't hear the aux coolant pump when I turn the ignition on and off - but both of the fans do come on when I short brown/red to brown on the yellow sender's plug. They're so loud I've no idea if the aux pump is knackered or not The radiator and inlet manifold are both scorchio when it's been running for a bit so I'm guessing it is getting up to temperature - I just don't know what it is! (my fuel consumption is crap so I'm guessing the ECU doesn't either...) Last time it was in, the garage claimed they replaced one of the temp senders but I'm not sure which one...I do have a spare yellow one so at least I have something to try! Stone
  11. I'm guessing I'll spot a few of you heading down the M3 on Saturday morning...no speed cameras down there! Hopefully someone will be able to cast an eye over my engine bay and help add to my huge list of faults that need sorting - you might have to promise not to laugh too much though  Stone
  12. Mine turned up today, 20 second job to fit it and it's lovely! :D Fingers crossed the green light on full-beam will stop me from parking up with the lights on, I'm in double-digits already...
  13. I bought some JOMs a couple of weeks ago (being fitted next week) - I figured anything would be better than my dodgy shortened springs... Should have bought them off you lot and saved a few quid :D
  14. What size is the original hard box? Might as well get the right size to prop the armrest up... :) Cheers Stone
  15. I've definitely got one, drop me a PM with your address and I'll get it in the post :) Stone
  16. Similar problem on mine - tilts fine, opens 90% of the way in one go (then inches back in 3-4 goes) but only gets about 1/3 closed before it gets stuck. It will close but it takes a lot of inching! I swapped it out for a different motor (same part number, marked '94 instead of '95) and it is a bit better in that it opened and closed a few times without trouble, but it makes a hell of a loud noise compared to the original one...on a couple of tries it also managed to slide back so far that the entire panel disappeared into the roof and got stuck, I had to get the hand crank out :bonk: After zipping backwards and forwards a couple of times it got stuck in the same places as my original motor so I guess that has the all-clear. I figure the rails need greasing to give the motor a bit of an easier time, but can you grease the inside of the motor unit too? If I could quiet down my replacement then the extra power would definitely help... Stone
  17. I thought the lights were OK. Most roads around here are lit ;) Agree on the wipers though - totally rubbish over 60mph, you get a huge cloudy triangle right in the middle :bonk: Stone
  18. You'd be welcome to mine if you like them :) Tyres are 215/40/17s - two brand new (~50 miles - 8mm tread) and two part-worn with 5.5mm. Mine's as low as you'd really want to go (if not lower!) - lovely on the motorway but incredibly uncomfortable over speed bumps and the tyres rub at full lock. I didn't drop it myself but I'd be surprised if it was less than 70mm... When the rest of my parts arrive it's going onto some new coilovers so I can raise it back up again, the roads around here are shocking, and the low-profile tyres don't help... Stone
  19. If you're anything like me you'll spend the next fortnight or so zooming around with a silly grin plastered all over :D Decat exhaust and cone air filter are both cheap and easy (unless you bodge it with parts from a Peugeot like the guy I got mine off...!) I would hold off on buying stuff until you uncover all the little snags you weren't told about - I've spent the best part of £400 sorting mine so far and it's only about half done. This morning my oil temperature sensor died so now I haven't a clue what the engine's doing... Stone
  20. If you wrap a couple of layers of leccy tape around the back of the ABS switch it locks in fine ;-) Mine had a split in the body that needed reinforcing... Just for reference! Stone
  21. Doesn't apply if you've dinged the wiring as you go along, but you may be able to plug/unplug the door handle without taking the whole door card off. Mine only had one of the two screws fitted in the edge of the door (below the lock mechanism) so with that out I was able to flex the card away from the door enough to unplug my old handle without taking the whole thing apart. Might save you half an hour, anyway! Stone
  22. My other half's got one of those in her Mk1. The USB iPod input is really handy! Quite tempted by a new one myself actually - I have an Alpine unit (forget which model) which is very basic. Are the GPS-capable ones with the motorised screens any good? I just use my phone and a car charger at the moment but I still can't decide if they're cool or tacky... Stone
  23. Stop press, a VR6 being broken has found me. Should be sorted for all the bits now :) Cheers, Stone
  24. I have an aftermarket alarm but I can't set it (no transponder - not got around to recoding it yet). Very strange! While it all seems to work I'm tempted to leave it be...
  25. Yep, I just figured that one out :) The two ends have to cross over and grip the topmost bit before it goes on properly. What's really confused me is that after getting hacked off with not being able to get deeper into the handle, I cut off the damaged cable altogether (so it wouldn't short out or foul the window) and put it back on the car. The confusing bit is that everything still works! I can lock and unlock the whole car, including the boot, from the driver's side - and it still unlocks when I use the key in the passenger side. So what's the cable for? Maybe VW realised it was a crap design and built in some redundancy? If it is actually important I may well have that handle off you though! Stone
