had 3 posts full of updates and pics to cut and paste but there's no point as this forum doesn't like the pic sizes and won't let me repost. sorry! have a look on clubgti if you're interested. http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12534&page=48

yes gary, some good races, yours is damn quick!

I've only been going for 3 years but know Martin as my mate rents garage space off him. Never actually stayed there but eat and drink there most nights.

Awesome place, great hotel too. I'm off august bank holiday weekend.

Not strong enough. Look at the thickness of the seat runners, the floor is about a third of that.
-
If you are welding in proper seat bars with decent sized spreader plates then yes it can go. It's really thin material, next to no strength in it really.
-
Just go to the motor factors but make sure it's a quality one such as GKN.

Disastrous Clatter From VR6 - tensioner bolt causes rebuild!

Do not turn it over again. You risk it jumping a tooth. Sounds like the chain tensioner blade has failed, seen it loads of times on vr6's. -
I had a passat one in mine but wasn't happy with the profile, didn't match the rado roof that well and caused a lot of wind noise. Got a mk3 one here but not tried it in a rado yet.

Lol! Cheers kev Well I say without gas, it was still on but that was after 13 runs so I'm sure it'd long ran out as there was only 2lb left in the bottle. I'm not sure what's it's capable of as on the best run I only fired the gas in 3rd and it only really came in hard in 4th. The only runs I've used the gas from the start it's felt very quick but then blown the cage on the N/S inner cv both times. Hopefully the new wishbone bushes will put a stop to that.

The "If you sprint/drag race your Corrado" thread
PhatVR6 replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Cheers John but I don'nt want to put any money into anything that isn't going to be transferred into the other shell. That's getting a supercharged 3.2 so I can't justify spending any money on VR6 upgrades really when there's so much other stuff I still need. My mate offered me a set but I wasn't sure if they'd work with stock lifters and springs. You've just confirmed they won't. -
Yeah, I haven't got the jetting quite right yet. Because the bottle pressure varies dependent on the temperature and I don't have a bottle heater to maintain the pressure I get varying results.on hot days (like at inters) it was injecting too much gas and causing misfires. At GTI fest it ran great, but it was the first time id used it so was very wary about turning the controller up. Hoping to shave at least 0.4 seconds off just with the better Tyres, problem is they'll lower the gearing even more, which isn't ideal on 1/4 mile.

Just boggo 288s. They're enough for drag use. My mate runs low 10s and I'm sure he's still on 256's, possibly even 239's!!!

And finally my spangly new 14'x6' beaver tail twin axle trailer :-) Sorry for the multiple posts, can only post one pic per post on Might bring it over to Elvington if anyone is interested? Can we use the airfield at all?
-
Yeah, dropping to 288's and these magnesium 15"s for drag use. Sticking with 17"s and 355s for track.

Just wondered what techniques you're using and what gives you your best times. I'm currently running a VR6 with a Quaife box and nitrous kit, decat pipe and ram air. I'm finding the engine doesn't produce any power above 6000rpm. If I try and give it high revs it feels just like when you over rev a tdi out of the powerband. With the close ratio box I'm only dropping around 1000rpm between changes, but I'm finding I get better times and terminal speeds if I short shift at around 5000rpm and let the torque from 4000rpm to 5000rpm do the work (and on the gas there is a LOT of torque). Yet when I think back to my old mk2 vr with 268's, schrick VGI and superchip that would pull clean to over 7000rpm and I'd alway use all those revs (again with a 6 speed box, Gemini that time). Best time in the mk2 was 13.74@98 Best time in the rado so far is 13.56@107 (with gas) and a feeble 2.5 60' time (I'd ran a 2.034 in the mk2). I'm hoping for a low 13 once I have my 15" drag Tyres on and set the nitrous up better.

My burgundy one is a non sunroof 8v. Green one a vr6 sunroof. Both 1994 models and identical shells apart from lack of rear armrest brackets in the 8v shell as it had a flat rear seat.
