  1. Yes, but they'd have to be the wider vr6 version, and with the arches flared losing the flat edge too. I have 2 wing already like this if you need to take molds. Are you undertaking this work yourself?
  2. I've got a mk7 polo one somewhere that I used to use in mine.
  3. I sanded the chrome off mine and painted it black!
  4. Gotta love the dedication and determination throughout this build. Sure there's more powerful vrt's around, but to have that spec level and still be able to use it daily has to be testament to the build quality and choice of parts used. It's been a long journey, you must have done everything 3 times! But the sheer value of the research and development gone into the build then shared with the forum is second to none. Incredible.
  5. I normally buy genuine VAG wherever possible but I daren't even ring them for prices. Basically looking to buy the following to rebuild my VR then sell it on. So needs to be cheap enough to make it worthwhile me even doing it, but dont want any comebacks so needs to be decent quality. I'd prefer Victor Reinz gaskets really. Heard bad reports about GSF supplied head bolts and bearings. Need a head gasket set, Inc bolts. Bottom end bearings. Haven't checked the mains yet but the crank looks like new so I'd rather not disturb it really. Do I need new big end bolts? Are they stretch bolts? Just looking for some advice and prices from people who've done the job themselves.
  6. vr6 out Then my car port flooded!!
  7. Bloody hell, didn't realise this thread was still here!
  8. Just leave it. It sits there just fine and still keeps the stone chips off the inner arches.
  9. VR6 now out. I'll pop it on my engine stand and rebuild it later. Time to gut the rest of the engine bay and size up the mammoth task ahead.

    ATE Brakes

I'll ask my mate, he has them on his S4 and had a nightmare finding new pads for it.
  11. Forget any marks you've made yourself. Remove #1 plug and feel for tdc with a stick (use something that won't leave bits in the engine or damage the threads. Check that corresponds with the pointer on the flywheel lining up with the spike on the bellhousing. You should always turn the crank pulley clockwise, never turn it backwards to the mark or you have the slack on the wrong side of the chain. The slots in the camshafts should line up as you get to TDC. If you don't have a cam alignment tool try a spanner. If you can't slot the alignment tool in you've done it wrong. Remove the tensioner bolt and rear cam sprocket and set it up again.
  12. 4wd of course. Although I will concentrate on the engine end first. I'm going to do it differently to my other 3.2 rado and do the full bulkhead swap. I'm intending to use as much as possible out of the donor car, even the steering rack if possible. Seen it done in a mk2 so I don't see why not.
  13. I will fix the vr if I can get the bits cheap enough. Shame to scrap it when I've got a full setup including loom and ecu, ripe for a conversion. but if it's going to cost a few hundred quid to sort I might as well just break it up. I'll pull it out and strip it and see if it's rebuildable. For my car it's time to move onto 24v power...and DSG :-)
  14. Well, took the head off last week and found that #5 plug had been helicoiled and the head has cracked between the plug and inlet valve. I was blaming the helicoiling but it's the same on #6 too. I don't think that can be repaired. It's also scored the bore on #2 It's fair to say that's the end if the road for the old VR6. Some lessons learned with the nitrous, namely the jetting cock up and also fogger location. PM me if you're after a VR6 bottom end to bore out. Chains were all new in January.
  15. I'm not interested in working on anyone elses car, sorry. Done it before, never again.
  16. How much would you want for the r32 shell once you raped it for parts?
  17. Here's another option. How about a mk5 type chassis with a Corrado shell plonked on the top? Half leather, working climatronic and modern half leather trim and a respray?
  18. Well I've already got an R32 corrado with a 4wd conversion. I'd only be doing it for the money. Just wondering if it's worth all the hassle. I ain't fitting 4wd for a grand that's for sure.... The shell is good and straight, but would need paint to be mint. Just dunno what to do, got too many cars and parts and too many choices!!
  19. I'm umming and aaahing about putting a 3.2 DSG setup and possibly even the 4wd in my other Corrado. Just wondered what it'd be worth if I did all the wiring and mechanicals then put it up for sale without an interior, for someone else who may not be as spanner savvy to make their mark on it. I know coxys old one went for about £8k but that'd been resprayed too and had nice wheels, brakes and new suspension.
  20. They look a lot like the centrecapless Azev A's on my van.
  21. WTF? How the he'll does he manage to go onto the INSIDE of the bend? That corner is flat in 4th on decent Tyres in an average car, or only a dab or lift on road Tyres.
  22. The hubs were a nightmare, had to drill out the threads, on brand new hubs. Then trim the abs ring to clear them. Pressed them in only to find they touched the carrier.. So had to press it back out, and damage a brand new SKF bearing, grrr. Worth it in the end, makes it a lot easier to change wheels over. Gonna compression test the vr before the head comes off, I'm expecting to have to take the head off anyway. Yeah, the old vr was always kind of disposeable, I'm just a clown for running the nitrous and not wiring up the afr gauge...even more stupid for continuing to run it when I knew it was running lean. Durr. Ah well, got a bottle heater now, and a bottle pressure gauge. Gonna ditch the direct port and run a single fogger so it's raiser to change jets to fine tune it. It's amazing how much abuse it's taken, a good 40 drag runs on the gas, with at least 3 huge misfire bangs. Let's see what's broken eh, it's all part of the fun!
  23. I've had the front bumper on and off so many times the threads had gone. The bolts came out at one end and the rad support thread couldn't hold the engine cross member, so the engine fell forward and goosed the brand new ally rad I'd just had made. Spark plugs have melted due to running lean, nitrous bottle pressure raising on a hot day. I think I've cracked a piston, maybe even the head or block, I noticed the smoke on my last run and called it a day. 3.2 time....
