I've had a similar spec. 2.9, mk4 HG, 268's and a VGI. worked fine, never ren it on super either.
-
sanded down my spare roof (no, really)
-
yeah, makes it a lot easier for them, and the welds can be done better too with access from the top.
-
At last, they've actually started making my cage. Very very tight fit to the roof. It's actually touching the roof brace. I wanted it a bit tighter to the B pillar, but that would have meant the door bars would have beet too far out. I didn't particularly want a brace in the main hoop, but it's FIA regs now apparently. For added side impact protection (not that I hope that will ever be needed). They were bending up the front bars whilst I was there too. Doing it in the cheap CDS so as not to waste the expensive T45. Once they have the shape right they do the final bend with the thin wall T45 and in it goes.

oh my, it's not looking that far off now! -
probably, but I don't care, seeing as it's still registered as a 2.0, and SORN'd, and might never even go back on the road due to the never ending assault the govenrment has install for us motorists. buy a van abd a trailer, tow it to track days. drive as fast as you possibly can, do 6mpg, go home happy. (and possibly be disgusted when you get told off for making too much noise at donnington, whilst jumbo jet's fly overhead defeaning you and dropping unburnt fuel ont he track.......)

I have 2 cars, they both have 3.2 V6's, get in there.
-
see, they keep doing this and ripping us motorists off, then keep blaming it on "congestion" and global warming, when in reality they know for a fact that no matter how much they charge us to use the roads (which we are already paying too much for) we will still continue to use our cars. they don't want us to use them less, they want it to stay how it is, and just rip us off. and they know we will continue to use our cars, and continue to pay. we are stupid. just stop paying,it's the only answer. if everyone got together and just refused to pay it what would they do? if they really wanted to stop it then why don't they stop all the stupid finance deals on new cars to stop people buying them all the sodding time when there's nothing wrong with their old one. EDIT proud owner of two gas guzzling, noisy 3.2 engined cars that only do 23mpg.

rip off britain as per usual

can't see it being a problem. mines a 2.0 8v according to the log book.

i just sold a 2.8 24v for £700. that's LESS than shreks go for. Yes, and what about the 1500/2000 to fit it? I believe he used the word 'install', which implies fitted to me. If anyone can get a 24v fsupplied and fitted for less than a shrek and remap, i'd be amazed.[/quote:4bfb6] there is the option to fit it yourself you know......that costs nothing. in fact, my 3.2 swap in my mk4 currently owes me -£200 (as in, I sold the 2.8 for more than I bought the 3,2 for)

To paint or not to paint, that is the question..

well, paint is definitely out the window now. Didn't realise the quote for the cage was PLUS VAT, so that's the budget well and truly blown. Also, it didn't look too bad once I'd washed all the dust off it. -
I must admit I was a little reluctant to start cutting away at a mint and straight shell, but the roof has alwasy bugged me so I had no problems whatsover taking the nibbler to it.
-
got a buyer lined up, just trying to find a replacement (plus I need it to tow the trailer!)
-
something is definitely a miss here. you should be feeling a huge increase in torque around 3300rpm, then a change in engine note at 4000rpm. i never even had the chip and I thought it was one of the best things I'd ever bought for my VR (even more so when it was onlt £450!)

She's on the move! Borrowed a mates scabby grass tracking trailer (delivberatly left like that so no one nicks it!) and managed to push the old girl on by hand on my own, damn she's light now! Didn't have time to get the drivers window out, I'll strip that when I get there. First night outside since September 2005.....and it's forecast snow....... Off for rollcage first thing in the morning.

grim looking interior shot (through the roof!) that tar is horrible stuff to get off had the old scales out today. sunroof was 16lbs. got a total of 4.5stone removed from the car so far, and that's not including glass, wiring or the electric windows. That's literally the sunroof and all the steel I've cut out.

MG looks quite a dark yellow in the pics actually. doesn't have the "custardy" quality of nugget. -

going to give it a good wash when it's outside tomorrow and see how it cleans up.
