Bollocks, that's the Pace Products ally rad knackered then.

And the bad day is looking increasingly worse...
-
I was having a bad day. Missed 3rd on first run, got kicked off twice for dropping water, then it was warm in the afternoon so my bottle pressure got too high for my jetting, causing misfires. I never even picked up my timing slips, I doubt I broke into 13's all day. My mates supercharged vento was quickest vr6. 12.66@117!!!

Mwahaha, was the whole show watching that wrestling match or what? Had loads of people mention it. Eye is still pretty rough looking but doesn't hurt anymore. Did anyone spot my Corrado on my trailer in the VIP camping area?

Nice to see people ate benefiting from this mod that I came up with over 10 years ago! -
Might give it one last outing at York next weekend if the motor checks out ok then rip it all out and fit the 3.2DSG setup.

The new Tyres were great, very grippy, shame I had a recurring water leak with the new rad cap letting water out which kind of stopped play. Need to check compressions, I think the head gasket might have gone.

Ready to roll

No words required

New hubs with studs pressed in from the back. SKF bearings, etch primed and powder coated carriers.

The GP track is pretty boring in a road car, you can tell it's been designed for much faster stuff. And power doesn't give you've quick lap, experience does. I know guys who can do a mid 8 in a golf 16v, but they live there. I bet you can't do a sub ten in any car unless you've done at least 50 laps with someone who knows their way around.
-
I had mine done at protection and performance in skipton. They will still have the bending profiles on computer.
-
Buy some proper wheels the correct fitment and some better Tyres, that should help. It's also worth nothing that the throttle isn't an on off switch.... You can use part throttle from time to time. I'd recheck your tracking and camber and tyre pressures before spending any money.

I now have a 20t hydraulic press and some spare vr6 hubs. I know what a chew it can be for people who don't have access to a press or the extra transport to take their hubs off and get them done so I was wondering if I could help out Corrado and golf owners by doing hub carriers with new bearings (and hubs if need be) on and exchange basis? I realise postage ain't cheap but it's so much easier to just swap in another set if ready done hub carriers if you've only got a day to fix your car. Let me know your thoughts.

If you undo the hub nut a brand new bearing would still have play in it...they have a split unner race and only work when fitted. if there is any play at all radially or axial with the hub nut torqued up correctly the bearing is worn out. Sometimes you can get away with just tightening the nut, but that generally only works with the tapered rear bearings.

That cup and nut is only there to stop the strut falling out when the car is jacked up (or airborne!)

Have fun! I dont fancy ever doing a wet lap again.my mates been early in the year and had to turn back and do the track bacwards as it was snowing and they couldn't get up ex muhle!! Mad. Saying that. It's incomfortably hot and far too busy if you go in may. Might have to try a trackday instead of Touristenfahrten days. Been out on a test day which included the GP track, got some amazing photos of the VLN and GT cars on track, taken in car.

I want an S8 V10 for my rado :-)
-
Heat is the only thing that will shift them. I have tried every type if penetrating oil under the sun, diesel, the lot, nothing works as well as a good old blow torch. Buy a proper plumbers MAPP one with a piezo igniter. Might set you back £45 but you will wish you'd bought one years ago. I cannot remember the last time I was defeated by a stubborn nut/bolt. Just be careful you don't heat too near the actual ball joint area, as you can boil the grease, which causes the joint to pop off like a bullet.
-
Wet line is totally different you know. The track is like ice if you stay on the dry line in the wet. I've only got 6 dry laps and one damp lap under my belt, around 70 passenger laps I'd say, mostly with experienced people thankfully. Hopefully gonna get a few laps in the mk3 golf, gutted not to be taking the rado over, it's what I built it for in the first place!!

Great stuff, looking forward to the vid. My mates bm does 8:55. I've Bern in it on a 9:10 lap and the pace through the twisties is on par or quicker than the gt3s and ring taxi. It's just a 318 though do struggles like hell up keselchen and ex muhle. From Hohe act to the finish it's some serious pace.
-
Cheers bernie, a pleasure to deal with.

I just don't know what it is about this particular Corrado, but it just looks so fresh and modern. There's nothing that gives it away as a 15+ year old car. Proof that the classic design hasn't dated at all. Proper minter.
-
Ooh, do they? How do you get hold of those? I keep breaking inner cv's when I go for third gear with the nitrous wound up.

Have you decided what you're doing with the wastegate yet? Screamer pipe or back into the downpipe?
