Is it the ordinary one, or the bigger one, that also covers a part of the wings? And is it original from us, or an aftermarket one? Black? Cheers, Redfox.

Yes, they will be okay. Later Corrado's had 205 tires on 7" rims as far as I remember. Cheers, Redfox.

very true, apart from him being too tall to drive it ;) Looking at the series on youtube from abroad. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi DriverVR6, I don't really know, because I just finished it, and it stays 7 to 8 days hardening, then I will add a LOT of leather protection cream from the same company. Until it sucks it no more. Then I will make the install, and drive it, so I will be able to tell in a years time. Sorry, that is the best answer i can give. On the other hand, there's a lot of extra layers and x-link'er in all mixtures to make it more hard wearing, so I expect it to last years. Leather protection cream with anti wear barrier should also help keeping it nice. Applied every second month or more, according to me. 4 times per year according to the company. I am sure someone else here are able to tell you. And I'll like to hear that too ;) I can tell you it takes a lot of sanding with grit 400-600 to wear it down a little. Under the four matt top layers of finish, are two to three gloss coatings, under that 6 layers of black colourant, plus binder, plus reviver, etc. All with x-linker in it. Pew, what a job. Still far from finished. Need to make the motors work better. Any ideas? Cheers, Redfox. ---------- Post added at 12:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 AM ---------- Hi Portent, Thanks. In my former Golf, I had Edition One electric Recaro interrior, and it was hard wearing, and nice, but had to wet-clean it twice or more every year. What was better in the Golf, was the better side support. I would like to mix both to be ultimate. But I would have to source both interriors up first to work on them. Leather seems more in line with the Corrado. I always thought the black leather in the Golf looked silly and a bit out of place. Anyway, if you so chose one day ( to retrim in leather), be sure to get the unharmed cloth pieces in a bag, to keep. Get other leather doorcards, or retrim some boring ones. So you can always make it back. I would do so for sure. You have MJ in GB right? Cheers, Redfox. ---------- Post added at 12:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 AM ---------- Forgot to add, that I really think leather is not the best for fast cornering - too slippery, but I just have to try it out ;) Cheers, Redfox.

Lewve, put that remark in the loosing the love thread, and they'll learn ;) Cheers, Redfox.

Polished a bit on the exhaust tip. Went from black matt to shiny stainless ;) Cheers, Redfox.

Well you lot complain of prices, but in my country, we have to pay 180 percent tax on top pf the car's price. That means that a so so Corrado cost's 9500 GBP here ;( A totalled wreck is around 3000 GBP- To me, it's like you get them for free. Now, if only VW cared making spares...... Cheers, Redfox.

What is the reason for loosing the interest in your Corrado? Is it being an old car? Maybe not with all the modern gimicks? Is it because it notoriously breaks down and consumes spareparts faster than VW can make them? (not that they care a rats arse to make any) Is it because the roofline is way too high even after lowering is so much that the attention you get from pedestrians, is every single time you pass a speedbump, and the frontspoiler says "CCCRRRReeeezzccckkkk"? Is it because a 944 is better looking from the outside? Or because a Esprit is 12 centimeters lower? Is is because a new Mini can overtake it? Or because something embarrasing is happening every time you try to show off in the Corrado - like something falling off, or steam rises? Don't know. What I do know is that everyone else making a car will have to do a divine job to make a better car and one that is more fun to drive. And because every time I leave the Corrado after a blast, I turn around a take a look at it, before I enter the house ;) Cheers, Redfox. ps: 17,460 posts from you is not exactly loosing the love to your Corrado.

MMmmm, polished my stainless steel original exhaust tip tonight, and it came out nice and shiny. No need for a Magnex, as I think they look a little silly with a fat tip, and a thin tube inside. Maybe some of the others makes it nice and closer to the original?? Cheers, Redfox - aka Blackfox - aka Blackfix - when you do yout Corrado yourself :black:

Thanks a lot. I'll polish it up then. Cheers, Redfox.

All right, here's the finished passengers seat. Still working on the drivers seat: Quite satisfied. Just need to do a lot more on the other one. We'll see how it works in practice later on, when I install it all. Still need some spares to renew the old parts many places. Also installed a new rear plate light bar complete with sealing, wires etc. No more blinking light ;) Cheers, Redfox.

HI all, Just want to ask what the standard exhaust tip on my 1991 Corrado G60 is made of? Is it ordinary steel, eventually galvanized, or is it stainless? I cannot see it, and before I make any attempts to polish it up, I would like to know that. Cheers, Redfox.

All right, todays chemicals: And after a whole days work, I managed to finish the rear seat backrests and the passenger frontseat plus both headrests. So I went from this: over this: to this: And finally this: And the frontseat: It looks greyish, but that is just the flash light. It is really pitch black and totally matt. Very nice. I'll let it dry for 7-8 days before reassembleing, and lots of leather protection cream. The drivers seat I must work more on, to accept it, before painting it. More to follow. Cheers, Redfox.

The "what went wrong with my Corrado today" thread
Redfox replied to huggy's topic in General Car Chat
Hi Huggy, Give it a dab of non-permanent Loctite. Should secure it, while it will still be possible to take off at a later date. Nothing's wrong today, I just waxed the Corrado, and now it's pouring down ;) Cheers, Redfox. -
Hi all, After my sour phrases yesterday, I feel to write here, that Furniture Clinic also have an extraordinary service, as I have already this mid day recieved a new package not only containing the correct ½ Liter matt finisher, but also an extra bottle of ultra cleaner and a bottle of leather protection cream. Well done. It is absolutely not every day you meet such a good service. So, I am in the garage, painting, and waiting for it to dry.Weekend saved! Cheers, Redfox, mattfox, sprayfox, blackfox... whatever ;)

Argh! recieved a fresh bottle of matt finisher and it was clearly written on the label. Okay, taking free from job, clean everything, seal off the space, move stuff, clean again, vacuum clean a couple of times, clean back rests on backseats, get compressor set up, adjust pressure, mixing finisher with a bit of black colour and x-linker like I did earlier (same measumrements), and what happens? It's not matt... Apparently I got a wrong labeled bottle of semi-matt finisher. Ggrrrrrr.... ;( Should have cut my roses or listened to some good music ;) So much for all the big ado for nothing. Got a new oem oil feed tube for the G-lader, and a spanner too (the little shock), which I will put on the shelf till' I have bought the rest of a nice service kit for the engine, including the terrible bent plastic water thingy on top of the radiator, which seems to break in the most unfortunate moment, so better avoid that, and some other bits. Awaiting them from Germany. While taking it for a spin today, I managed to get a few stonechips, even on the front wheel arches. I don't blame it on the low Corrado, but the government neglect of public roads. Grrr... Yeah yeah I know, full mooon and all ;( Still blame it on the neglect of roads. More later... ;) Cheers, Mattfox.

Hi, I am recolouring my Recaro interrior, and I am using Furniture Clinic. In their material they claim, that you can go from any colour, to any colour. Of course you would have to order a lot of "prep" (I think 1 Liter for two seats) to clean off the finisher and paint propperly. Absolutely possible. Cheers, Redfox.

Exactly my words. Keep it and enjoy it. Your daughter will be embarrased in a suzuki swift mum-like car or alike. There's a lot, and I mean a lot more streetcred for your daughter in your nice Corrado. Nice to hear that women can also drive a Corrado ;) Enjoy. Cheers, Redfox.

If you can make that happen, I am with you on buying some sets of those. Also sometime in the future. Cheers, Redfox. -
HI all, Broke a tab off one of them. Went to VW, who said the usual words: "sorry, not available any more"......... Crap. Do any of you guys know how to get some? Most appreciated. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi DriverVR6, Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I really like the flashred colour, and it's fun to remedy from previous owners neglect. When I bought it, it was not red any more, but kind of greyish/red/pink/white after too much sun and no suncreme with high UV factor ;) But a good 26 hours of hand polishing made it red again. I do have stonechips, so I will have to sort those out later on. First mechanics, then looks ;) Let's see some pics of your Corrado and a big congratulations on it too. Enjoy a seriously well driving car, they don't really make them any more. Cheers, Redfox - maybe to be blackfox, if I ever finish up renovation my Recaro interrior. ---------- Post added at 10:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:56 PM ---------- Sorry, just realised that you had your Corrado 12 times longer than me ;) ;) ;) Cheers, Redfox.

The "what went wrong with my Corrado today" thread
Redfox replied to huggy's topic in General Car Chat
While changing all front light bulbs for Osram Nightbreaker, I noticed that one little bulb at the top of the rec counter stopped working. Gave it a small knock, and voila, it lighted up ... ;( Means more fun when the weather gets warmer ;) Cheers, Redfox. -
Just enjoy it for what it is, a compact sportscar with a rare twist. To me, most modern cars, even though they may be faster, are not half the fun to drive. Luxurious - yes, comfortable - yes, practical - yes, lot's of equipment and bling bling - yes, but as fun? Nah, very few cars are. Couldn't care a set of hens teeth of what they will cost in the future, as long as I can get spares. Ooops forgot that I cannot really ;) Cheers, Redfox.

Beam me down Scarlet ;) Seriously, cars are tripple the price where I come from, and a watercooled 911 is out of the question. Now, an aircooled one, that's something completely different. And it's a kind of return to the origin. A kind of source of all sportscars ;) We'll see. Cheers, Redfox.
