1. Hi all, Just looking around the net for a new Corrado, but only the old drawings etc. from a few years back. But last friday, when picking up spares for my Corrado, I spoke to a friend at the local VWdealership (he's in spares and something else), who happen to have just come home from Wolfsburg, from a training course, he told me, that there's definitive ideas to release the Corrado (name will be reused) in 2014. Development is on schedual and it will again be the sportscar of VW. VW has apparently decided to outgun Audi with their TT, now that they have the R8 as a real sportscar, so the old inhouse fight is not started again. Designwise there's no pics around that I have found, but he told me, that it's going to be a souped up revised design og the present Corrado (88-95), with a few minor twists, like a littel more sharp edges, and revised front/lights. It should come in three engine versions, the biggest so far is a biturbo (or kompressor) on a 2L short stroke block with 4 valve head. (no 5 valve version). This is after the choice of downsizing engines in the whole of VAG, as we have seen earlier on. Powerwise he couldn't say anything, but supposed to be a little more than 250 hp, but that is purely a guesstimate. Brakes are probably going from bigger models of today. Again we'll see a lux interrior with possibly very sporty bucket seats for front, and something like the present Corrado for the rear. So overall, it will be recognizable in tradition with earlier products from VW. Something, the told me, that VW is very concerned about, and prioritates highly. That's all he told me, and I am going there every day for the next period, to see if I can squeeze some more out of him. I'll get back asap. Cheers, Redfox.
2. Very nice G60 you got. And nice additions too, if I may add. Let's see a few pics of the interrior after the seats, stereo etc. Cheers, Redfox.

Why Recaro?

Hi all, looking at many Corrado's and Golf 2's with a better than basic interrior, I see why VW chose Recaro front seats for their Golf 2 über models. They are very good to your back, and have a good support. The side bolsters are very large, and still doesn't get in the way. I had Edition One in my former Golf 2, and they kept me planted when driving hard. Now, looking at the Corrado, even with Recaro seats, I wonder why they chose to downgrade the front seats, for a better and much more sportive and top of the line car? Both the cloth and leather front seats are jsut fine, but look silly small and are not so supportive, as the one in Golf 2. It's kind of strange, that VW upgraded the Recaro seats to have heat (some) in both seats and seat backs and in both front seats, plus electric adjustment of seat base and seat backs on both front seats as well, when they chose a less sportive and less supportive model seat to start with? Another question: Have anyone tried to take both types apart, adn build the Golf 2 seat back side support, into the Corrado seat back, including heat and electric adjustment? Here's a couple of pics of my former Golf 2 Recaro Edition One seats, with nice big side bolsters: and: and here's the flimsy girlie seats from my Corrado: and: As can be seen, the side bolsters are much smaller. I think seat bases are the same and seat base side bolsters too. I think that VW should have pressed all possible contacts to give it as much sport and guts as possible, when they did the Corrado. For sure I am on the look for two Corrado leather seats plus two Golf 2 Edition One seats and build them together. Plus a set f A8 seats ;) What do you good people think VW should have done, and why did they do as they did? Cheers, Redfox.
4. I stand corrected :thumb right: Cheers, Redfox.
5. Sorry DriverVR6, hope you don't mind the link. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57481-The-Rising That's a smart soloution to a most irritating problem DriverVR6. I have two dead plate panels. Think I'll "steal" your idea and make a similar one. May I ask what glue you are using? I find the loctite 10 second glue not withstanding vibrations/potholes etc, so maybe something else? Anyway, a good idea, and the way VW should have made it in the first place. Cheers, Redfox.
6. I am looking for these two things. Well, I may also want two perfect Recaro front chair seat belt arms and locks. Please pm me, if you have some of this for sale. Cheers, Redfox.
7. Just a hint. I bought mine from vag, it's a passat one, and it fits perfectly. Even cheap too. Cheers, Redfox.
8. Maybe you did not tighten the track arm bolts to 160 Nm as per Bentley? Read somewhere, that this can give some funky sounds from underneath. I'd say the few money I spent on the wheel alingment, is some of the best money I've ever given out on a car ;) Raised the driving fun and limit a lot. Cheers, Redfox.
9. In danger of repeating the others, I'll say it too: Hurray for another (flash)red one. Very very nice one and bog standard. Like it a lot. Personally I also prefer the old style buttons, doorpockets etc. Take care. small pic of mine to show as much red as possible ;) with 66,405 miles since new. Also original paint (to be resprayed though). Cheers, Redfox.
10. Only in black. Cheers, Redfox.
11. Interesting read. I gad my wheel and steering set up done too, and I also have no more front arb knocking. So 2 out of 2. Not bad at all. Cheers, Redfox.

Thanks John, but really, it's not that hard. You have a red Corrado, and even a G60. What could possibly go wrong? Did you buy yours just a few months before me, if that is also around the day you joined this forum ? I am just a lousy beginner. Look at what some of the hard nutters in here does ;) If you don't have the Haynes Golf 2 manual (helps me), get it, and the Bentley Corrado manual too. Very helpfull. Etka too; it saves you many trips to the dealer. Just takes some time. And that well familiar astronomical phenomenon: the black hole, which sucks some money out of your pocket, every time it's pay day ;) I would like to know how to sew leather, and then I would do some A8 seats, and a dashboard in black leather, if ever for sale ;) I tried on an extra headliner, to make it all black, but didn't come out nicely. So I'll have to rehearse on something else first ;) I will look more into the engine and anchilaries for a while from now on. Actually there's nothing wrong, so let's just call it preventative measures;) I feel the steering and handling and suspension are more or less sorted for the moment, so time for something else. The alu-bar between the track arms gave a bit as well. Really sharp handling ;) Cheers, Redfox.
13. That's a serious piece of work. Exceptionally well done! Cheers, Redfox.

15. Hi all, I've looked through lot's of exhaust threads, but still have a few questions: a: Is it only the 4-2-1 banana manifold that is made of stainless steel? b: can this the coupled to the original cat and then Supersprint again after the cat and backwards? c: is it 2,25 or 2,5" diameter? is it loud? (I don't want it loud at all, just lighter and a tad better possibly. Is it crap or is it good? Most appreciated. Cheers, Redfox.

Okay, interrior's finished. Went from worn out cracked, holed and torn grey seats to this after just over 100 hours of work. Here's what it looks like: and: and: and: and: So, now I am onto something more poweroriented (mods), and a lot of service items plus a quickshift or shortshift as some call it. Cheers, Redfox.
18. Sure, I'll post one tomorrow. Cheers, Redfox.
19. Yandards: You mean oem G60 ones? Fishwick: Did anyone actually try out the very expensive KW topmounts? Cheers, Redfox.
20. Hi Greg, Thanks for posting that. I've spoken to the local importer of Eibach where I live, and he told me he would ask Eibach about it. There's a few things that have to be determined. 1: Eibach front arb for the G60/valvers and VR6 are not the same. 2: Track arms in a similar manner are not the same. 3: Droplinks in a similar way are not the same. 4: During production, Eibach reversed the printed white text on the front arb. 5: Every single person I've spoken to had the problem on their G60/valver. The front arb sit's too close to the track arms and touch them during driving/suspension moval. 6: Wietech front arb is bent different, and does not show this problem. 7: On my former Golf2, which have the same trackarms, same other parts, same supplier, does not show the problem. I know, I had that for 12 years. 8: on this thread there's apparently also proble even when you surely use original drop links, whivh have different shape. 9: I've tried original track arms, non-original ditto and the same with all the other parts - same problem. 10: I had my Golf 2 more lowered than my Corrado - no problems. 11: I've tried changing suspension from original, to KW coilovers, and it's the same problem. Scraping. My photos show the same problem as other users do. 12: I've tried to have a 4 wheel alignment, and the first drive there was no scraping, but I will elaborate on that asap. This is an interesting point. Still, if such a small fraction can/may/will solve it, there'sa design fault, as there should be more room for movement. I think it would be really really great if we could all find a propper soloution to this problem. The thing is, that after trying, and asking on forums, prople go out and buy other brand products, something that does not teally support Eibach. In my humble view, Eibach is a quality brand. They make really good products. But this is not good and fail mot/testing. A soloution should be found. I'll follow this thread. Thanks to everyone who tried to find our and/or write about their experiences. Cheers, Redfox.
21. A, got two yesterday. First one was when I drove to a specialist to have my suspension and wheels and steering set up spot on. He said, that it's a rare sight to see a nice Corrado, as most of the very few you see now adays, are built on, and built on, and then rebuilt to be something else. Like RS bumpers and sills, like most other brands also do exactly the same. He commented on the throaty G60 engine as well as he liked the solid pull ;) the other one was later, when I had the tires changed. The guy said: Now bring in here the smart red sportscar;) And then he said more or less the same thing like the previous guy ;) Hmmm. I wonder what my wife thinks of the Corrado?? Cheers, Redfox.
22. I wouldn't swap, as I really really dislike comfort. I did not get a Corrado for comfort. An ols mercedes is better fot that. Or a french car ;) Anyway i also looked at weitec when I had to chose, but I have a car mechanic friend, who have been at the factory a few times, and he told me. So wanted to chose between Bilstein coilovers and KW ditto. I know Bilstein from earlier days racedriving, and it works. But so does kw. V3 for me next time. On my motorcycle I have some multi adjsutable Öhlins, and they are seriously good. Wish they made them for the Corrado, but they don't. Only saw some with outside reservoirs etc, on a highly tuned volvo. Cheers, Redfox. ---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ---------- I second that of Gaz. I have a G60 Golf driving friend, and his technix (or something like that), went bust after just two weeks or so. Never again he said. Way to hard, not actually working, and just plain bad quality. Same with g-max and similar. Interalloy a bit better, not leaking, but still too hard and not working correctly. The old saying you get what you pay for, certainly holds true here. Cheers, Redfox.
23. Yep, inox line v1. Nicely made and fits well. And as I said works well, just a tad soft to me. Cheers, Redfox.
24. Weitecs are a cheaper brand of KW, and they do not use exactly the same gaskets, tollerances etc, but still good stuff. KW is more expensive, but a tooth better. Similar to Bilstein's good ones. So for me it was KW or Bilstein. I choose the younger lad of the two, wanted to try something new. Apart from my KW coilovers Inox line V1 are too soft for my likeing, the way the suspension moves and works, is indeed very good. Save yourself the trouble of cheap coilovers, and get the quality parts straight away. That improves your Corrado, and saves you work and money in the end. couple them to good new top bearings adn you'll feel the improvement, and not just bump along in a crashy cheap set. I paid close to 650 gbp years ago for a lesser brand, and they were not really the worst at all, but they are working in a much lesser way then my kw's nowadays. And they were hard, jsut for the sake of hardness. Next time, I'll go for V3 to get maximum adjustability for sure. Just my two-pence. Cheers, Redfox.
25. No, I wouldn't swap for an s3 or any other audi. Well, maybe an R8, but that is wayyyy too expensive. A 968 is a better choice. Cheers, Redfox.
