Good to hear, so good luck on your new Corrado. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi Corrado fellows, I've finally given up on the Blaupunkt head unit in my Corrado. It's a San Diego MP27. The problem is, that the blue on/off button, have gone lazy. Sprayed it from outside with contact cleaner, which works a treat for seat buttons, etc, but no good. I am not at all interested in Mp3, iflod whatever, and I am nt at al interested in big speakers, boosters, ½ farad, boxes, amps etc. So what I need is a well playing h.u. with a decent radio and a cd-player with a propper da converter and amp built in, and pref in black with no martian-looking design, no blip/blop etc. Don't give a rats ar.e if it is second hand or new, as long as it plays well on the built in loudspeakers. I don't really use it much, and don't play loud, but I like the quality sound. (stereo belongs in the living room and in the concert hall ;) ) So, my question is this: Which one ? Cheers, Redfox.

Just changed a bulbsocket and bulb for the rear license plate light, as it began to blink once in a while. Works again as it should. I know, it can hardly beat all the engine swaps I read about here on a daily basis, but who cares? As long as it's healthy and well running ;) more into cornering speed ;) (well, to a limit) Cheers, Redfox.

For as little as 5000 I would look into an Alfa GTV (nineties model), low, smart, well driving, nice car. But seriously I would save up some more, and get a 944 or a 911 or an elise or the opel equivalent. Top of list would be an Esprit turbo s3 1986 or 1987. I should mention, that I use my bicycle daily ;) No need for a car at all. Cheers, Redfox.

That is getting real close to blackmailing. And around my waters, it's illegal to do as they did. Here there's a law that clearly states, that all prices must be openly given to be inspected by others. We have some possibilities to take that up and speak about it in the open, for example via an association of all insurance companies, and also an independant organisation for complaining these matters. We also have something called FDM - united drivers organisation, which have a bunch of persons employed to see these matters through, eventually in a court of law. Next time, may I suggest you tape it, and remember to say that you tape it in the beginning, otherwise it will not be usuable in the court. Anyway, not worth the hassle (which they know). Here, we have the right to refuse any given insurance, even if we ordered it, with in a certain amount of time, say 8 days for example. This way, you have good time to read th4e small letters, and decide if the offer is something for you. You may also chose to look at it this way: if that is how they work, then can you imagine the way the work if you should ever need them with a claim? Geeeez, nah, I think I would forget them and look elsewhere, free market and all ;) Cheers, Redfox.

If you want a short shrow shifter, you can make it up yourself. Take a look a the Canadian Corrado Club - CCC. Cheers, Redfox.

really nice paint, Very nice wheels indeed. Looks great on your Corrado. The stance looks very serious, and I think you must have wonderfull roads over there sans speed bumps  ps: let's see the interrior. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi Owen, Sounds good to get the bits together. I for one, would very much like such a thread, as I don't know hot to etc. I will buy an extra charger soon, and rebuild it to be sure of spec and performance. Cheers, Redfox.

Does anyone here own a supercar? No a Corrado doesn't count!
Redfox replied to Abdul's topic in General Car Chat
Saw a neighbour close to my job driving in his 928s4 in silver today on my way to work. Really timeless styling and a superb engine and workmanship. The state is very good and he keeps it well. Looks like new. And the bayflex which Laverda also used on their RGS (I have had one) is in perfect condition. No visible mods, just pure Porsche. A supercar even though others have come and gone. 911 is for sure a sportscar, but not really a supercar. It's more sport than 928 but more pure sport. That is also why it have won so many titles. Most very modern supercars does not interest me as I like the styling from the 1970'ies and 80's better. Each to his own. But a 928 is surely it. Cheers, Redfox. -
Thanks Hasan. It's nice to get some cheering up, as it takes a lot of time to get it right. Progress is slow as it's around minus 10 here, and there is also the thing that I have to keep it more dustfree. So it weather permits, I'll vacuumclean and wash the floor a couple of times tomorrow. I did manage to make two more bits today. First there's this pic, where you can see the difference between a grey and a black doorcard: There is no clear coats on anything yet. Then here's a pic of the two rear quarter cards, now in black :black: : Edges should be tomorrow, and then time for clearcoats, two layers of gloss, which is very strong, and then two layers of matt, to make it nice and look factory and how I want it. Now, that it's without matt clear coats, the black colour is more like satin black. I bought the total matt finish, as I want it black with no reflections and nothing to disturb my view, when driving ;) More to follow. Cheers, Redfox.

Congrats on your Corrado. The Honda is not a big car, and it's not tall, but it looks really big and tall as a house compared to a Corrado. Looks funny ;) Cheers, Redfox.

More progress: I have spent the weekend giving the various parts several coats of this: which is mixed 1:10 and used within 3 hours, so I had go get going and this: A layer applied with a sponge, and then more with the spraygun. Then it's time for a very light sanding with grit 1200, and then make a move to the black colour, which is applied with a sponge, one layer ata time, then dried off with a heatgun: Looks terrible, and I thought that it may never cover and even look nice, but just keep on pressing, and second layer is then applied: That covered it a bit better, then some more with the sponge. This is the 4'th layer: Rinse out the spraygun well, keep the room warm, and wear a mask with filters: Dry it off, and then for second sprayed layer, changing spraypatern to cover up any missing parts: This picture is the same, just with no flash: The pictures did not turn out well, but I can say that it is pitch black and absolutely well sprayed. I let it dry off till' tomorrow, then I will do the edges on the rearside. And then all the other parts. Buy a compressor or get more aircans, as 4 are not enough for the many layers I am doing. More to follow. Cheers, Redfox :smug:

Hi Craigowl, Yes, analogue stereo is the way we're built to listen. So I stick to that ;) That is also why I really don't care for the sound in the car, as it's far from being HiFi, and I don't do music as background noise ;) But each to his own of course. Thanks for the nice words, I am in the process of doing a lot of various mods (subtle) but it's really cold and progress is slow; listening to music is pleasant in the wintertime; no, unfortunately I am not living in the UK. Could be great to meet up over a tea, pint or whatever and talk some Corrado (or HiFi), but I am in Denmark, over the small pond. There is next to no activity around Corrados around here I'm afraid. Btw, there's a real nice forum for tapenutters, called tapeheads.net. If you're not there already, go take a look. Most helpfull for Tandberg and Nak nutters. Cheers, Redfox.

Black interior light/sun roof control panel & sunvisors
Redfox replied to BadMeatPies's topic in Interior
HI Joe, Long time since you posted this, but I would like to know, as I am keen on deleeting the last light grey coloured interrior. Cheers, Redfox. -
Ah nice setup, and certainly I notice the Dragon, CR7 etc. the Caspian sound good too. True, things can be bought too expensive. I have this idea, that I want to get really good natural sound for low money, but sometimes things take an offspin and go into orbit. So I use a Musical Fidelity A1 (modded), Tandberg TCD-3014a, Rega Planer 3 (modded), Copland cda288mk. II se. (modded), and B&W DM640i Mk. II (modded) with some Taralabs RSC Reference and Air1 plus double set of Helix 6. Did it myself, had a lot of more expensive stuff, but keep coming back to this. Plus I made the livingroom being setup for stereosound, all other stuff does not matter. More mods are naturally allways on the board like with the Corrado and Laverda ;) Everything bought seconf hand naturally ;) plus my mods as tiem goes by ;) Couldn't care less for compressed sound like mp-something, downloads, DAB, applecrap etc. Veeeryyy soothing to come home and enjoy a good album after a days work. Keep your Corrado, it's a very capable little sportscar imho. Cheers, Redfox.

very ot, but what is the ultimate HiFi that you've reached? A nice needle can eventually cost the same as a Corrado ;) Cheers, Redfox. ps: keep the Corrado ;)

update, Now I have followed the instructions of the products, and ran out of prep, which is the paint/clear coat remover. So I ordered 1 Liter more, so 1½ in total. This is sufficient to remove the paint. So I start over from after the cleaning, this time with a lot more prep, and then liberal amounts of leather revive and leather binder. After one time of prep, and here you can see that there is still a lot of paint left on the leather: and: So I did it all over again. Remember pro mask plus fresh filters, as this can poison you seriously!!! Then it looks like this, and here you can see the paint removed much better. Remember to use fresh microfiber cloths all the time, plus fresh green pads too: and: Now it's time for some serious softening of the leather, so I used a lot of this, in tripple layers in total: and this. Remember to use a sponge, as it applyes it more evenly. Great product, after two days of drying, it really is a lot softer to the touch, for example onf the backside of the rear seat headrests, which had hardened a lot over the years. Rub it in thoroughly: Now it's time for leather binder, which makes old leather much more strong, and prevents the cracking (which the revive also does), plus it helps contracting old cracking etc, and strenghens the leather a lot. It is applied in liberal amounts and 4 times , with two hours drying in between: and after 4 layer of binder, it looks like this. Dries off till' tomorrow: Note: I couldn't get the revive to work, as company says it should be applied on the inside (not mentioned in manual). But after the second prep (a lot), it sucked in perfectly. So do that, as it's quite costly. I can aslo add, that I used 18 microfiber cloths the second time of using prep (paint remover), and they were all completely filled with gray paint. Recaro certainly does use a lot of colouring ;) More to follow as it is ready. Meanwhile I orderes a lot of fittings for the Recaro front seats to make them look and function as new (I hope) when they are finished being coloured. Cheers, Redfox.

I prefer the Momo wheel I bought years ago. Don't have anything against the original steeringwheel, but I find the Momo much nicer made. Cheers, Redfox.

Window Rollers - on hiatus due to c*ck up
Redfox replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in Forum Group-Buys
HI Alex, The new supply of rollers you have sent me came today. I am most pleased. Thanks a lot for the big effort to make this happen, even when Royal Ar.e screwed it up totally. I have not seen the original shipment of rollers as of yet. Should there ever be an envelope, I shall mail it back to you asap. Thanks again. Cheers, Redfox. -
Great looking Corrado. Even the original wheels look like new ;) Exquisite interrior. Put in some new runner bits and reclining back rollers, and those seats ar good for the next decade. Looks very nice with the black headlining. Prefer that way more than the ugly standard, which looks like a part vw forgot about, when they built the Corrado. I like the front strut tower bar too. Eibach? I think your car is an example of less is more ;) Not an overspoiled (overspoilered) one, that looks like an ugly jap scrap, or even worse, the new scirocco ;) Cheers, Redfox.

Okay, time for an update, I have been getting the two nice boxes filled with goodies to spray out all over the interrior that I am renovating. 22 bottles, plus lots of foam bits, clothpieces, sandpaper etc: Since I had already been using a whole bottle of Meguiars leather cleaner, it was not overly dirty, so I spend a whole evening cleaning it all up two more times: and: This leaves the leather and vinyl clean and you can see the cracking and crazes more clearly like this: Now is the time to use some alcohol cleaner to remove the last of dirt and grease (right side bottle of the three I am using at this stage: Then I move on to use the leather prep, which dissolves to a degree the old layers of clear lacquer and grey paint: After some good scrubbing with lots of microfiber cloths, they look like this: then the leather looks like this: and this: I then left it over night to let the remaining stuff escape the leather. This is then followed by another alcohol cleaning, and then over to a good rubbing of all leather in leather revive. A second layer is applied and then clingfilmed until next day, and then two more layers and then wait until next day also with film. This makes it much more soft, and prevents it from cracking in the future. Pics will follow. If you chose to work with this particular company, you should make sure you get an extra liter of prep, and a lot extra green scrape pads as well. The extra large set I bought, plus lots of other stuff, does not at all contain enough prep. As you work with the prep, change the mocrofiber cloth often, and be amazed to see many crackings dissapear or get really flat. More work gives better results for sure. I got lots of real cheap microfiber cloths from a local supermarket. Cheers, Redfox.

After a nice conversation like that, one feel tempted to drive legaly for a whole week, or so. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi all, I am trying to give my seats a make over, and I can't really make them move the seat up and down. Before starting, nothing moved. After cleaning with contact cleaner, then wd40, then sewing machine oil, them spray grease, I can make the back rests move just fine, and the seats up on both, but only a bit or little or veeery slowly down. I've cleaned all cintacts too and they work fine. There are some places that need to be lubed, so I did the above. The snails are maybe sticking? so I tied to do the above cleaning plus lubeing, but maybe they need to be takes apart? Can this be done and how? For example I can get the grub screws off but cannot take the holders they sit in off, and therefore I cannot lift the whole drive out. It would also cause the bearing balls to come apart. I'enclosed a few pics. Sorry for the unsharp picture of the torsion like bar that holds the moving part on. And how to get that off? Cheers, redfox.

Okay I surrender, the look awesome or whatever the youngsters say these days. You must be very satisfied. Great choice. Cheers, Redfox.

Thanks Portent, I get that they are somewhat rare in grey, but I really want a black one, and around my waters, unfortunately there's noone to swap with, plus I will restore it as good as I can to look more like new. We'll see, I ordered the black stuff plus a lot more chemicals yesterday. Cheers and a Happy New Year, Redfox.
