  1. There are 2 types/sizes of bolts. If you have an earlier fibre gasket it uses shorter bolts. For the later type rubber gasket, it's thicker so uses longer bolts. Can't remember the sizes of each but I'm sure you'll find them on Zap7VW. 😉
  2. I think the majority will use Facebook for this purpose now anyway. It's only the more 'mature' person I imagine that would likely have been a member here previously, that are likely to think about the forum as an option to sell. I think even fewer would post here for the reason suggested - that they would prefer parts to go to an enthusiast rather than receive top money for the item on an open site. It's a good idea in theory, I just don't see it really making much if any difference in reality.
  3. Yeah it great. I've got it as well as the clay bar, korrosol, autowash, and double speed wax as part of my cleaning gear.
  4. I love Bolt Hamber products, Surfex HD I presume? One of my go to's as well. cracking stuff! 👍
  5. Get those drive shafts powder coated, they're letting the side down! 😆
  6. I used petrol & a neat degreaser with a nail brush and a ton of rags. I know the petrol isn't the safest option and make sure you use it in a well ventilated area with limited time doing it in between breaks, but it worked really well. You could use thinners as an alternative, but I was initially mindful of removing the factory overspray. Wouldn't have mattered in the end as I painted the entire underside anyway. 🙄
  7. Not sure what your blackberry was like when you began that one Chris, but it's a horrific job which I'm sure you understand! I had to do 2 passes of my underside and must have spent somewhere in the region of 30 hours cleaning it all.
  8. If the wipers at just touching when they're Parker, just remove the arms and realign. With the washer, have you touched the stalks/connectors? Is it worth reconnecting the original pump and seeing what happens. All seems a bit odd, but only thing I can relate it to was when I did my MFA stalk and somehow managed to reconnect it a pin out of line. Some of the options scrolled through iirc, but weren't showing the readings.
  9. Thanks Chris. They're back on the car now but it's difficult to get a pic with how it's angled in the garage. I'll get one next time it's out. 👍
  10. Duel Metallising in Birmingham, there have been a few post over the years with people recommending them. I posted mine. As long as you're comfortable stripping the unit down, it's small and light enough to post by recorded and insured delivery. They do state that it's not insured when return delivered though. A bit of a gamble but they arrived back quickly and safely.
  11. Indeed mate. No previous issues at MOT but they were looking pretty rough. I'd 'joey'd' them when I first got the car and when I removed the masking tape, it took a little bit of the reflective coating off with it. I wanted to get them looking original again anyway so pleased they've been done now.
  12. Christ, you're on one tonight Shaun! 😆
  13. I'd made a mistake with the products, it was Gravitex I used not Dinitrol. It is definitely rubberised though. I put it on with a brush after leaving it to go off slightly, so it was very thick and rubber like. You can get the texture right by layering and playing around with it at that stage.
  14. Yeah I used Dinitrol too. It's easy enough to get the texture the same as the factory stuff, but my underseal had yellowed quite a bit and was heavy with factory overspray. I went for white Dinitrol and it was too bright and obvious, so a heavier covering of overspray just made it look very patchy. As I had literally everything removed anyway, I just painted the lot!
  15. I'm sure you will mate. Matching the colour of the underseal may be a bit of a challenge. I just painted it all instead! 😆
  16. That car has been making appearances on Facebook groups over the past few months. Shit ad, you'd think the guy would have found out and known a bit more about it if he's imported it. I know I would buying such a heavily modified car. Not my cup of tea, but a lot of work looks to have gone into it. Just wonder what the standard of that work is, though it looks reasonable from afar.

    NLA bolts

Hello mate, all good thanks, hope you're keeping well. I didn't replace my rack. It looked in good order and I never had any concerns with it so just cleaned it up and resprayed it (it was just a bit greasy from a leaking sump a few years back). I've got a spare too so had that if the worst happened, but I needn't have worried as it's not leaking, and smooth and quiet.
  18. Hats off to you James, that's a huge amount of work that I think very few would have been prepared to undertake! 👍

    4 cylinder subframes

Thanks mate. Should be, it's had a nut and bolt restoration to the entire underside and running gear!

    4 cylinder subframes

The rear stub axles are different as they have holes for the ABS sensors. You can just about make out the plastic guides that the sensors go through. The studs for the brake pipe clips hold them in place and there are additional ones that you can't see that also hold them.
  21. Sounds good Chris. I loved your Blackberry - tbf I've loved all your cars though! 👍

    4 cylinder subframes

They don't pass through. There are plastic guides that clip onto studs on the axle. The presence of the studs is the only thing that may differ on ABS/non ABS axles.
  23. 😯 modifications!!!! 😆 In fairness, they're not very elegant and you would never miss it! About time we've had some progress since the garage has been finished! 👍
