I'm thinking about putting 18" on too but abit unsure as to weather they would look too big on the C. Anyone got any pics???

I might have some centre caps for your wheels if you want them? They have VW logo on them genuine VW

Will peanut butter work on the rubbing strips? Mine have gone like a wood effect
-
Cheers mate I'll give that a go before refitting them they are pretty bad tbh. Look like wooden beading not plastic, don't want the C looking like a Morris Traveller lol
-
Got another problem with the strips themselves now, the door ones have gone like a wood effect finish now I've removed the sticky stuff from the back and wiped them over with thinners. Anyone got any good ideas on how to get them black again. I've used a heat gun on a MK2 Golf I owned before but not sure it will work on the rub strips as they are different material to the bumpers on a MK2

Thanks mate, I'll go to the body shop suppliers locally and see if they got anything similar or the same if this I've got doesn't do the job
-
Mate of mine just txt me about this stuff too, but doesn't know where to get it. Would it be available from a bodyshop paint supplier?

Thanks for the advice. The double sided tape I've got is quite strong 3M stuff with reinforcement weaved into it. I'll try it for now and see how it goes. Someone else told me tonight about the tiger stuff so I'll give that a try if it fails. Mar lady wasn't impressed about the door strips being in the bath when she went for one earlier :nono: lol

Done a bit of work on the car today spent 3 hours getting the sticky stuff off the bodywork where the previous owner had removed the rubbing strips. Gutted to find by removing them it had also removed some paint :( Not previous owners fault as they've been on there 20 years and it's probably had some paint in that time. Luckily the previous owner kept the rubbing strips so I'm going to refit them just need know whats best stuff to use for refitting? I've got some strong double sided tape but I don't think it'll last long and won't be strong enough hold the door strip's as they are a bit like a dogs hind leg (currently in a nice hot soapy bath to get them straight and soften the sticky stuff) Here's some pics

Just spent 3 hours getting the glue off the paint work from where the previous owner had removed the rubbing strips from the car. Only to find that on the drivers/passenger door the removal of the strips has also removed paint :( I've managed to refit the wing and rear quarter parts but the door ones are like a dogs hind leg (currently lying in a nice hot soapy bath to soften the old sticky stuff) and I'm not sure the double sided tape I've used for them will be strong enough to hold the door one's in place. Any help or advice on this will be appreciated don't really want to leave the rubbing strips off and have bottom half respray tbh

Have you still got the loom from the ecu and the loom to the injectors? (just to be sure are these the ones that connect with the big round plug by the aux water pump?) If you've still got them how much for both please? Can collect as only in Stoke so not far away from you. Thanks Neil

I've been looking at oem wheels from a beetle think they are called houston 16" 6spoke (split spokes)& polished. Has anyone got any pics of a C with these on as I think they would suit the car really well but don't want buy any then see that they don't

Thanks for the advice I'll get it pressure tested see how it's looking car has done 160k and stock guides are probably pretty worn by now. Really dont want to remove the head as there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with that (if it ain't broke don't fix it)

I've just got mine set on the screen (can move it freely from screen to feet), think i'll leave it at that. Unless I can find a solution to the problem :bonk:

Could anyone tell me if its possible to change the valve stem seals on the VR6 without removing the head. Know its possible on some cars but not sure on the VR Think the plugs are getting oiled up and causing running issues on the VR I've just brought, there is a lot of paperwork with the car that says its had misfire issues and they've been sorted by cleaning the plugs up. So I'm thinking the stem seals are worn and causing oil to get through
