Which Uprated Rear Engine / Gearbox mounts for G60 ?
rmn replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Drivetrain
i think he means the big rubber block on the subframe at the back of the engine -
i had zimmerman drilled disks and pagid fast road pads on before and they worked really really well together
-
anyone have a list of the different type of 20v 1.8T engines, i know some of the early type ones have big valve heads
-
no there are 1 or 2 storms about And we can drive did any of you see that recovery truck fall into the sea sieres of pics! but the uk road, any time i am on the m1 or m6 no one gets out of my way! here they just cruise in the fast lane and we get nowhere fast! as for the mainland comment, isnt that europe  @godskitchen, when your over you should try and meet some of the irish vw scene

We have 86cent/l for unleaded, thats 60p/L

Hi Majik, its sitting in my garage waiting on some body work to be done. I want to do it right when i get it done, its pearl grey too
-
Congratulation Henny! I love Pearl Grey! It is a good basis to do something kinda nice, but you will rebuild J Dub and it will be better than ever! Best of luck and you gotta have a year long thread for this one too 8)

@mike, we will agree to differ, i do agree about low speed tghough, like in traffic, or town driving, when most cars temp creeps up at high speed your rad and the entire front of the car is acting as a vent, all a bonnet vent would serve to do is increase drag and thus fuel consumption
-
mike i am puzzled, i am just talking about air flow? i also was saying that a friend had done it before in his mk2 turbo, like kev's old one, and it DID reduce the in bay engine temp as there was an air flow. What i have done is to remove the number plate recess to allow air flow in my corrado :rambo: :batman:
-
@coolrado, if the engine went on fire, i wouldnt hang about to see if the fumes got into the car or, not, i have been that soldier and its a hell of a lot nicer to see these thing as early as you can there is a seal there to stop water leaking in, but we all look after our cars and most are after more power so the seal is a small price to pay for the possable power gains, heat is the enemy of a high power engine! by removing the seal or lifting the back of the bonnet it will allow a much greater airflow through every part of the engine and drop water and ambient temp of the engine i rekon it will work and once i get my corrado back i will be doing it  thanks Kev

Pablo's got a plan, wasnt there a vr6 mk2 with a chromed engine and no bonnet in one of the mags a few years back?
-
its air flow you want, not more air getting in, just more air getting out, maybe louver the entire bonnet
-
yeah there are lots of europeans on there too, so its worth a shot, must try and remember my password for there.....
-
one of my friends slightly propped up the back of his bonnet to allow hot air to escape, only a couple of mill, but it was enough to allow a higher air flow and did drop the trmp, it would work on a corrado too as it has no obvious scuttle panel, but you have to decide is it a show or a go car, he had a very definate go car! (btw he had a mk2 golf)
-
its an AMY engine from a 00 (i think Sharan), i have yet to see it, but i rekon its a different inlet manifold as it wasnt readily identifiable by the guy who got it for me as a vr6. if the compression is lower i think i might have a different way of going with the car :) anyone know where i might get specs for one of these engines?
-
thanks, i had thought that kev the physical engine should be the same the corrado was the overbore of the 2.8 engine wasnt it?
-
Not strictly corrado i know, but can anyone tell me if thee is much of a difference between a sharan vr6 engine and a golf/ corrado i know they are 2.8 where the corrado is 2.9, but i mean physical differences, i am planning on fitting one into my 2 door jetta as a run around Thanks

one of the major worst enemies has to be cops!!! They only put speed traps on the good roads and then screw people as they go to overtake! The other one is people who dont know the rules of the road, you drive in the Left lane and pull into the right to overtake Rant over! :D
-
just getting on this a bit late, i would suggest buying a very cheap 16v, then sell the interior, ebay.de for suspension, g60 brakes, and a 20vt! If you get the right car you will ahve 2k for the engine conversion, so you WILL go over budget as a quaife limo is about 600 pounds onits own! Maybe consider an insurance write off car, as its not for road use is it? and if your going ball out track monster look for a sunroof less shell and throw in perspex side and back windows  That should get you a nice serious weight reduction!

I have a vr6, i use semi synth, fully synth is too fine for my car and just goes out the exhaust i would say the same problem is with your car, just the oil is too fine

Drilled and Grooved Brakes for Brembo Brake conversion
rmn replied to Blue_Joe's topic in Drivetrain
i would have to recomend bill too! you could go to a seat dealer either and ask for Ibiza Cupra R disks and they are 305 and savage brakes -
on the mounts i stand corrected
-
I agree with VR6, double it you could use an emerald ecu with a vw enterprises plug and play loom, the emerald has a dubsport 20v t map in it on day1 you need to modify engine mounts too as the 1.8t mounts in a different position to a g60 or vr

class looking, i love it!
