Dazzy i thought all C's have flaps, but not always that big!?!  sorry, had to get that one in after looking at your jpeg!

hmmm, interesting! hello by the way :D basically sounds like your timing to me mate cos hesitation and sputtering is the obvious signs! do you get the odd pop/backfire as well? when was the car last serviced and do you know much about the G60 seeing as you have only just got it? if you don't know much then the people you could be dealing with might be taking you for a ride! they might not know a lot about the G60 either.... its something that happens quite a bit! also its important to know for your own sake mostly but has the supercharger ever had a re-build and how many miles has the car done? for the hesitation, check the distributor and the rotor arm are ok, nice and clean and that the rotor isnt shot (common Corrado problem as they are getting old) and you can also test the HT leads are working ok. easiest way to test the HT leads is to pull off the HT lead at the spark plug end and unscrew the spark plug, put it into the HT lead while out of the engine block, get a mate to turn the engine over and see if you get a nice regular spark.... it should be tick, tick, tick from the spark nice and evenly, if not then either the plug or the lead is shot. do this one by one to make sure you dont get the leads mixed up. relace these if you suspect something is wrong when you perform this test and then see if you get any change in performance! give this a go and see what the result is cos it may sort it, spluttering and hesitation is generally cos your timing is out ie too far in advance or retard so the engine isnt firing how it should be!

just done the CV boots on my C today, its easy enought to do it yourself if you have a couple of hours free and want to save yourself some money! let me know and i'll be happy to explain :)
-
i can totally understand where you are coming from! my C has been garaged for the last 3 years while i have been at uni cos i havn't been able to afford to do anything with it! will be on the road soon tho cos have been working on it all day to get the MOT work done, then its registration & drive time!! :D :D :D
-
mine are originals too! replacing the front strut mounts tomorrow but appart form that they are fine. like Fat Tony mine has done a few less miles too. nice car btw FT!
-
they do those for any car just with a different badge cos i have seen them around before except with different badges for different cars eg 'GTI' etc.... so i wouldn't bet on them being any good as a fit! if you want a set try and get hold of a pair like the ones in the other thread pictured on G-60 Jet's car.

hmmm, GDP? looks nice mate, just hope ist not going to cost you the GDP of a smal country to run & maintain!! regardless your going to enjoy it tho.... i mean what is there not to enjoy about a C?!!! :D

Black VR6 Reg: 'M9** RBW' parked for most of the day in a car park in the Llansamlet enterprise park, saw it yesterday too!! didn't look at it too closely to give more details cos i was at work and it had gone by the time i had finished! is this anyone?? does anyone on here with a Corrado actually live in the Swansea area appart form a new guy called pete with a white VR?
-
OK, PhatVR6 now i am starting to feel 'reeely fick!' :? i had a look at the car just now but what horizontal bit do you mean that joins the wing?? is it: 1)the lip that the black plastic bump strips are sitting on? 2) the lip thats under the bonnet that bolts the wing to the rest of the body? 3) is it the crease that runs horizontally down the upper part of the wing that continues along the door and underneath the back window to the back end of the car?? (this is from looking straight at the side of the car) my car appears to have 2 parallel creases down the wing, one on the upper part (but is by no means sending the wing horizontal at the top) and then has another one just underneath the side repeater that is broken up by the contour of the wheel arch flair. the only other horizontal areas are the ones that i have stated in 1&2! :? :? i have figured out that i do have an early style bumper cos its got the crease that runs along the top at the front (above the numberplate recess) which continues around the sides and then curves up over the top just before the wheel arch! i also have early indicators and fogs! Proper confused by the wing thing tho!! :?
-
well, i thought that it was about time i got my only 2 pics of my C in the members gallery.... so here they are!! :D it still looks the same now appart from the paint being a bit pink on the roof! :( (EDIT) no it doesnt! check further down the page  ***EDITED AGAIN*** (couldnt upload more than 10 pictures to my second picture post) well everyone, i have finally got the ball rolling properly on my G60's restoration so i thought i would do some pics of whats been done so far..... its not far of being finished now! 8) things that needed doing: Registration in the UK (DONE) MOT (1st one ever in its history since birth) (DONE) new front wing (DONE) fix central locking as nothing locks with it  (DONE) Respray! (IN PROGRESS) new G-lader! (PURCHASED BUT NOT FITTED) CV Joints and Boots repaced (DONE) new headlining (DONE) CAT1 Alarm and Immobiliser (DONE) de-locked doors (DONE) new exhaust system (PENDING MORE CASH) New Engine Mounts (TO BE DONE TUESDAY 30th AUG) refurb of alloys or new ones (TO BE DONE PENDING MORE CASH) here are some pics of the 'before' shots (see next post for more pics):

i still dont get the bonnet thing but everything else seems to indicate that its an early one! the fogs are upright, 7 slat grill and i have brake cooling ducts! :?
-
hey everyone, i know its been covered before but i can find the info that i am looking for already in the threads! right then: is there a difference between an early and a late front wing??? i know a couple of people saying there is and then others that say there isn't? :? i know that my car is colour code LY3D Tornado Red. i know that this is the colour cos i have checked in the boot on the original sticker. saying that it looks like i have a late bonnet as its raised in the middle as follows: __-----__ i know that the transition was about aug '91 but i think that mine is an April model cos thats what the stickers say on the inside of some interior panels. another problem which doesnt help is that i know the change in the UK is between M and N in the VIN number but where abouts in the VIN is that? is it the small one in the middle before the second set of letters! i know its german so am presuming that would make a difference? my VIN is WVW***50 z MK011*** can anyone help??!!! :?

we know what you drive and what you do!but how old are you??
Spykee replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
i am 23.... just, as from the 15th Nov! my first car was this lovely G60 which i had back in '98 and bougth it 3 days before my 18th birthday! :D loved it to bits ever since and want to keep it forever! -
poor bloke! hopefully he was at least enjoying his drive until that point. corrado's i have heard have a good crash safety record as well..... i might be wrong?!
-
hi, i take it you have a G-60 then?? what year? when was it last serviced? mine is doing the same at the moment but i am guessing that its just in need of a service cos its been garaged for a bit! check the points and the distributor is ok if not clean it all up etc... and then see if you get the problem? don't know if its what you are looking for but its worth a try!
-
hi everyone, just wondering after looking at the Vag-Com site about how this should be done? :? i have seen a couple of threads about the package costing 139 quid with the OBD2 connection lead and that the software is free but on the site it says that the software is included in that price? i have a VAS connector on my G60 cos its a '91 model so what do i do, do i: 1)just buy the lead that costs 35 quid and then get the free/shareware software on Ross Tech that had some of the features restricted. 2) do above and get the software separately for an additional 70 quid 3) go for package 5 at 209 quid that does all of the above and also has an OBD2 cable?? not entirely sure how this works but reckon that it would be good to have a diagnostics checker cos i have a few intermittent ABS issues!! don't know if this is a bit of a stupid question but advice would be appreciated! :D Cheers
-
no need to apologise, i don't know either way what it is in the UK but taking a guess they probably saw you coming with the Porsche tho! lol. i do know you could buy a recharge kit in the states from the equivalent of Halfords with the connector valve and everything for a few dollars. if it is that much maybe i will have to start getting some stuff fed ex'd to me and pass the stuff on!
-
Sh*t is it really that much over here :!: :?: :!: good job i got mine done in the states then! it cost about 20 dollars! had it done in Dubai when i first got the car in 98' too and that only cost me 4 quid!!

yep the GT500 is the one in Gone in 60 Seconds! :D :D the classic mustangs look great i have to agree but i prefer the slightly later 60's ones that looked and were beefy (Pure American Muscle) before they messed them all up in the 70's and went far too overboard! its all been a bit downhill from there..... with as you said a few exceptions lately!
-
well it all goes back to when i was about 9yrs old......... as an already lifelong car obsessive my dad had a friend living in germany who came over for a visit and guess what he arrived in.... yep you've got it a brand new Corrado.... a G60 in Dark Burgundy Pearl to be precise!! he took my dad and i for a quick ride down a windy road or two nearby and all i remember is sitting in those bucket seats watching the spoiler lift and being glued to the back of the seat! :D so i fell in love with the car instantly and knew that i had to own one some day! i spotted my 'C' in the classifieds while in dubai at the age of 17 for less than sod all cos cars are tax free out there and never looked back...... i am so glad i didn't buy that Jeep wrangler a week earlier!! the other thing was that i had one of only 6 Corrado's in the whole of the United Arab Emirates 8) which meant eveywhere that i went i felt doubley great cos everyone looked and not a lot kept up! :D the engine sound and acceleration, the muscular looks, the way it handles... i have never driven anything better for handling and i have driven a lot of things. i was sadly parted from the car for a year  but my dad had it in California and every day i drove round here in my mk4 Escort i longed to have another VDub and would have given a kidney to have the rado again. it didn't get to that stage of desparation tho cos my dad shipped it over here to the UK about 2 years ago :D and its starred at me like i have neglected it every time i have gone into the garage ever since! being a student for the last 4 years i couldn't afford to do anything, but now..... everything is starting to look brighter! its going for the MOT on monday, which will inevitably raise some problems :? but once sorted all its down to is a 25 quid registration fee..... watch this space!! :D :D :D :D
-
hello mate, :D i had exactly the same problem on my car! basically it sounds like you have a stuck relay that means as soon as you give the car power by turning the key the fan starts up. with mine it started like yours at first and then started to do it even when the ignition was off which in turn caused the barings in the fan to seize and burnt the motor out on the fan which meant that the whole fan had to be replaced as the motor is an integral part. sort the relay and then check if you still get the problem. if you dont get it after replacing the relay make sure you also run the car on tick over until the engine gets hot just to check that the fan kicks in otherwise if the fan doesn't kick in when the relay is sorted it may have already bug*ered the fan and could cause the engine to overheat when you drive it! let me know if that sorts it!
-
Kev, hope i havn't pi**ed you off mate cos that wasn't the intention! i am just a stubborn git if i have a strong opinion about something.... proud to be british! i can totally see your point of view too..... who would say no to a Shelby GT500 for instance! not me!
-
Kev, granted it is a bit of a sweeping generalisation but at the same time you have to admit that you can't compare an American car to a European car in the first place..... would you say our cars are 'ar*e backwards' compared to thiers?? :? you do have a valid point mate about the classics but i think that you will find that the 'Cobra' was the creation of the AC motor company here in the UK but Shelby put a great 7.5 litre lump under the bonnet which admittedly gave it the extra grunt that its famous for. :D have a look at this from a book called: ‘AC Cobra The Truth Behind The Anglo-American Legend’: ‘The legendary AC Cobra is one of the world's ultimate no-compromise sports cars. Originally derived from the AC Ace, the brutal Cobra was the result of Carroll Shelby's dream to combine British chassis expertise with the easily available power of a large-capacity American V8 engine’. Just a useless fact that I know…….as a direct result of someone doing 175mph down the M1 in an AC Cobra is why we have speed limits on our motorways today!! fair do's :( again the Ford GT40 is a great car but its primarily BRITISH with an American engine & badge! Have a look at this from FORD of Britain, Public Affairs Staff PRESS RELEASE - 13th January, 1966 ‘In order to get into the business of racing with minimum delay, a subsidiary company called Ford Advanced Vehicles was set up at Slough in England under the Managing Directorship of John Wyer, well known for his long and successful association with Aston Martin, who won the Manufacturers Championship in 1959 including victory in the Le Mans 24 hour race. In order to reduce time spent on design and development the two 1962 Lola GT cars, into which Eric Broadley had fitted V8 Ford engines, were purchased together with retention of the whole time services of Broadley himself during this introductory period of 1963/64.’…………. ‘In brief, the main steel body pressing comes as a hull from Abbey Panels Ltd of Coventry. The nose, tail and door sections are derived from Fibre Glass Engineering Ltd of Farnharn, and when they have been brought together to form a complete shell the whole car is upholstered, trimmed and painted by the well-known coach builders Harold Radford, who also fit up the Marchal lights imported from France’. As well as John Wyer there was this lot: Roy Lunn Roy Lunn was in the Design Office of Aston Martin in 1949/50, after which he became Chief Engineer at Jowett, and then joined Ford at Dagenham from where he transferred to Dearborn in the Research Division. P Murphy - Works Manager Apprentice toolmaker at Seimens Bros of Woolwich. L. Bailey - Chief Engineer Engineering apprentice at Austin Motor Co. Development Engineer in E R A. Engine Designer at Daimler and Rover. Engine and Chassis designer at Austin. Chassis designer at Ford of Canada. Engine and Chassis designer at American Motors. Chassis designer at Ford of USA. J Horsman - Executive Assistant to Managing Director M.A. (Cantab). Pupil apprentice David Brown & Sons. Development Engineer and Assistant to General Manager, Aston Martin Lagonda. So it was a lot of Lola design fundamentals, which are again British but I’m not being funny and trying to wind anyone up but i think with that design team this is quite British?? i wasn't really comparing NJVRado's statement to the so called Buick’s & Cadillac’s let alone Trucks like the Dodge Ram! that would be like comparing a Corrado to a Milk float, there is no comparison between them. the sorts of cars that i was talking about were not the all time classics like your mustangs..... which i might add never did and still dont do corners unless possibly you get a Saleen Mustang (thats a statement from one of my dads mates who has owned bot the C & the M) but i was referring to the sort of every day drivers cars that are supposed to be sports models: Pontiac Grand Am/Grand Prix GT, Ford Mustangs, Pontiac Firebird, Chevrolet Camaro etc.. the only really great cars that the Americans have made recently are the new GT40 and the Chevrolet Corvett! Sorry mate but as much as you put up a valliant effort to contradict me its important to know the facts first!
-
i have to completely agree with this reply!! LOL i also knew that you had to be american before i even looked at the topic! no diss to you lot tho! for the point of view of being 'stateside' the VDub has far more street cred and you can blow CRX, Preludes, Eclipse's away with your eyes closed.... i know cos i have raced a fare share and they all chickened out at 120 cos i would just tease them by letting them passed and sitting on their bumper till they gave in! i have also done the claimed 138mph while living in Dubai so i definately know that there was still more guts left! its got to be Euro all the way and as VW USA say....... 'Drivers Wanted'

Valid comparisson to a Corrado :?: I THINK NOT :!: :!: you might say that mate but at the end of the day all american cars are Sh*t!! some of em are very quick in straight lines but give em a corner and they wanna go straight on! its all that jelly or 'jello' that they put in instead of suspension!!! american cars are really not worthy of being used as a comparable example cos i have driven plenty of 'Yank Tanks' as i have lived there, my parents still live there...... and thats why they bought a Jag!!!!!!!! 8) corners are where all the fun is in driving so i would pick a Corrado anytime cos as Henny said its got predicatable understeer which is easily controlable. the MR2 on the other hand: being a mid engined car balance should be pretty good but you have to worry about your girl putting herself in hospital if she has a heavy foot but not a lot of skill..... especially if you have plans to increase the power! all RWD cars are like that! if you do decide to get the MR get one with traction control (if they do them) just for your piece of mind when the missus is driving!
