can you use a dremmel to make it easier? just bought one and did my exhaust a treat but im not sure what attachments to use to tackle the rocker cover etc under the bonnet of my G? is there anything specific that needs to be used to get that really mirrored look but without any scratchy sanding marks on it? cheers,

nice one! i will have to check mine out to see if thats where its leaking from.... cheers,

was it an easy fix and did it cost a lot? cheers,

when you say it would completely transform the car, how? i find that my cable change is pretty cumbersome and sloppy and doesnt really go into gear that well on occasion... cheers,
-
i have the same problem so would also appreciate some advice on this :) ive done the expansion cap and yes it is a few quid from the dealers :)

as far as the G60 goes the official 0-60 was 7.4 seconds. now though becuase of the age of the car i would rekon its lost a few hp so its likely to be a bit slower...... you can easily increase the boost by getting a smaller pulley on the charger as well as a chip and uprated injectors, all in for about £500 probably including fitting. if you chip and pulley a charger though depending on the size of the pulley is going to depend on how often you will need to service the charger. standard its hsould be done approx every 40k miles just to be on the safe side but if you have a 65mm pulley on it then you will have to service it every 25k miles instead. i have no idea how rare nugget yellow is but im guessing that its one of the least common colours and as far as the suspension goes i have no idea.... im guessing its the same setup to be honest. my G60 is my daily driver and i get on with it fine. its obvioulsy going to have issues once in a while as its a 15 year old car but i think im getting issues with mine as its been garaged for 4 years so its got teething problems now that its back on the road. make sure the car has a good history and always check if the charger has had a rebuild cos if it hasnt that needs to be factored into the price you pay :)

right im after some advice! i have had a knackered exhaust for ages now, well cat actually so on saturday i went and had the cat removed and at the same time i thought, what the hell and got a straight through midpipe from the base of the manifold to the back box! now the pipe is 57mm in diameter which is about 2.25" as i have done some reading and this appears to be optimum without losing torque low down the rev range. however, i have the original OEM G60 back box and now im finding that its resonating a hell of a lot and to be honest sounds like its got a hole in the exhaust rather than it being loud but deepish..... so the question is, how do i resolve the sound problem? do i get a new backbox which would be stainless steel as well or should i just get a silencer put into the mid pipe? i have no idea what the most appropriate option is as i have only bought catback systems and decats for other cars. thanks,

Jeez chill mate! i only asked as it was unclear and i didnt want to spend hours polishing if it wouldnt work!! its done now anyway

gearbox mounts? -
is there a locking pin there somewhere to remove the blade section in a similar way to removing the scroll on a G-Lader? does removing the allen bolt and removing the sleeve that the pulley was attached to reveal anything?
-
guys you can buy the whole kit off e-bay for £25 so dont go forking out $20 just for the plate as it will cost more after postage! Stoney, how much was yer BBM pipe and where from?

Not the best morning.....UPDATED 07/09/06 (TWICE!!)
Spykee replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
They should claim the excess back off the other driver's insurance, too. As for the "breach of contract" bit, honestly, just tell 'em you changed your mind and cancel it. It's your car, you can do what you like with it. firstly sorry to hear about this... i would be just as p*ssed off as you are im sure. i have to agree with these two quotes though. if you have an agreed value with your insurer then all you have to do is claim off your own insurance company for the repairs to the car. your insurance company will then persue the claim with the calibra driver's insurance company as well as act on your behalf to claim your excess back. this way you will get the car repaired and you wont lose your NCB because your insurance company sees it as 3rd party fault. you will also be able to claim your excess back so although you will be temporarily out of pocket then you will get the money back in the end. i have recently had an accident with an articulated lorry on a country road coming home from work and that is what i have done. my insurance company said that i could claim off them to get the repairs done to my car immediately and they would persue it with the 3rd party as the debt is then passed onto your insurance company. this means that your insurance company then holds the claim against the 3rd party adn they are responsible for getting money back that is owed to them rather than you having to go through all the hassle of trying to sort it yourself and being out of pocket........ sounds to me like your insurance claims department isnt doing their job properly as this was explained to me straight away with mine....... i hope that helps a bit? -
the lambda isnt new but my mate has had a few small tests done on it with a basic diagnostic system and he says that the lambda is working ok...... im just going on what he is saying though! i think my post replying to you was a bit out of context Kongo, sorry about that. i think i had another day of swearing at the damn car and was fed up so couldnt be bothered to think about it any further! anyhow, as i have said its booked in with Darren at G-Werks now so im just going to get them to sort it out. i will let you all know whats going on once i have had it looked at. thanks for all your help so far everyone, its much appreciated :)

Eh? the only reason Roath is too expensive is because loads of bastids bought up all the properties to rent out to students at inflated prices  Roath is student-land haha! yer your right there! the housing prices have gone up in general anyway i supose so its probably not too bad price wise  had some mates living in roath going to uni and it was wicked for a night out! you had any luck with the paint then?
-
there is a place in Swansea called Livermores who do paint to the exact shade of your car and they are pretty cheap as well. i take it the reason your nopt going to VW with your paintcode is becuase of fading or ageing of the paint? if thats the problem but you dont want to have to spray too much then go to these guys cos they will do the colour exactly to the 'current' colour of your car and not necessarily what it was supposed to be like at new. swansea is about 40 mins from central cardiff...... i take it your living in the Roath area but not actually roath cos thats far too expensive for students! :)

i just thought that i would give a shout to the VW Dealership in Kettering as the guy at the parts desk Simon is great! he has a polo G40 himself, which has had a lot of work done to it and he is more than helpful with everything corrado and he has even been trying to help me troubleshoot my running problems! had a chat with him about it at the garage as well as called him up for with some questions and recived some good advice! he can get next day delivery on parts (dunno if this is different to the norm but my old dealer took 3 days) he will also give CCGB discount as well.

mine is a lefty and i looked into it as i bought mine abroad and then brought it back to the UK. basically its not worth the hassle as you have to replace so much it would end up costing far more than the car is worth!
-
i dont know if im any closer to you than you are to darren? but id set the ignition timing for you no probs if it was a viable option for ya. i think its worth, double checking the cam timing (will probably be fine) then checking ignition timing and co pot/air screw settings.and then go from there... i know you say the lambda is fine, but have you checked the voltages at the signal wire while its running? should fluctuate in between 0.1v-0.9v iirc. Neil. thanks for the offer mate! :) ive given up on it now though as i have already spent more time than i can realistically manage on it anyway so i have booked it in with darren today to get the pro's to look at it.
-
the lambda is working cos i have had it tested and the cat was dead long before this problem reared its head cos i managed to bottom the car out on a massive speed bump, which put a nice dent in the heatshield and the cat rattled from there on! its just gradually got worse! the car definately isnt in safe mode as it does pull to a point but isnt smooth with it running plus i wouldnt get the misfiring with the exhaust popping if it was just in safe mode. what makes you think the ecu is in safe mode and that there is a potential problem with the harness? :? im not getting you.......
-
i did replace the vac hose with one that was 1m long and 3.4mm diameter...... thats what the VW parts guy said it was anyway and he does know his stuff cos he has a G40! heres a pic of how knackered the vac hose was on the TB end!
-
yer a timing Guru sounds like a plan to me! prob gonna give Darren a call tomorrow and see when i can get the car down to him to get it sorted........ dunno if there is anyone closer or that i could trust as much?
-
did you replace this pipe m8? it runs from the fuel pressure regulator, and you are correct in saying that it wont help! deffo check the basics if you can? and know how? cam/ignition timing? throttle body switches? and double check lambda wiring and the lambda itself. unplug the bts and see if the idle drops or raises? not sure what else to suggest really as im still learning bits about these g60 things me self.i can manage setting the timing and checking a few things over mentioned above no probs. neil. yeh i replaced that last week and its only since then i have the idle probs! im not exactly an expert at checking the stuff myself tbh! im alright with some stuff and have looked at the timing myself checking its at tdc etc but then again the dizzy has been moved about recently but my mate has set it up since so it should be ok? lambda = ok TB switches...... no idea where to look for those! im guessing somewhere on the TB?
