Will get it charged tomorrow, so I can test this weekend. Any other ideas?

The battery can be seen draining while its running. While its off, it holds the current charge. ---------- Post added at 3:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 3:36 PM ---------- fla, will get the details tonight ---------- Post added at 5:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 3:37 PM ---------- So, I get 0.69amps between the negative terminal and cable all off. With the ignition on but not the engine it's 4.82. And I need to chare the battery for the final reading.

My other thread seems to have died, so thought I'd try again. Basically, my car was draining charge from the battery when ever it was on. I got the battery checked out at 3 places, who all said it was the alternator. I've now changed the alternator, albeit to an other second hand one (seller confirmed it outputted 14v on his car), and still the battery is losing charge. So, assuming the battery and alternator are ok, what else can it be? Ground, cable? What do I need to check? (the more layman's terms the better!)

Saw a yellow corrado going south in the m40 on Saturday, then going north today. Wasnt in the corrado myself :(

I've just read this: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?6136-Please-help!!-Alternator-No-output/page2 I saw a diagram and it showed the blue cable going to the starter motor, which didnt make sense. So, tonight i'll take a look at the blue cable and see. It looks as though I can connect it straight to the battery (-) to test if it works. I know the LED in the dash works, as it flickers some times when high revs.

I'm going with battery, as I said, going to take it back and get them to hook up a new battery and see do its the same. If it is, they owe me a battery! If not i will look into cables etc. I want them to prove its not the battery.

Been tested 3 times! Might get a battery to test.
-
All sorted. But, it's not! The battery holds 12v, when it's running it's still at 11.4v. The alternator reports 0.40v when read. Ideas? Cable? Starter motor?

ending on ebay tonight, 8pm. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280832681434

ARGH. 10 minutes my arse! So the adjuster bolt hole was threaded, put the bolt through from the other side sorted that. But now when I tighten the bolt it's not turning the cg, so I can't get te belt right enough. Given up for today. Advise please!

Just taken a look and it seems straight forward enough. The (I assume its the...) return cable is very thin. Even the alternator I bought has a thicker cable to it. Very good idea Wullie, all I need is a Vice...

The 'track' is fine, its just the lip of the pully thats a bit bent. I reckon it'll straighten out with little bother. If it does make a noise, I'll try and take the pully off my current one (off the car) and swap them. No point doing the work if the current one is fine. thanks.
-
Yes, albeit a bit bent. Are they easy to swap over?

Huzzah its here. Time is limited tonight though, so how long does it take? Obviously I can factor in the mandatory tea break and 'sucking through my teeth for ripping some skin off my hand'.
-
I wonder why people made it out to be tricky. When it finally arrives, I'll just give it ago then!

My alternator doesn't give any charge, in fact it takes it! So I've got a replacement on its way. I've read a few people saying its easy, 3 bolts and you're done, some guides saying they've had to remove engine mounts and raise the engine  I'm half tempted to take it back to the garage who recently changed the belts (for £15!) and see if they'll do me a good price for the alternator. How long would it take someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks.
-
You'd think they would output correctly, alas mine is prime example why I'm requesting that it does! It's actually draining the battery... I'll take it pending you checking it and finding out P&P. Thanks.
-
Based near Oxford. Are they refurbs or anything? Don't want to get something fit it and then find out it doesnt output good voltage.
-
I need a alternator for my 2.0 16v 1995 corrado. Obviously working, that can output a steady current.
-
Progress: My alternator is fooked. So thats why it kept dying. I've got some pics of my sparks I've replaced the dizzy and rotor arm recently and its not helped the start up. What else do I check?
-
No, sorry. Come as they are.
-
Woops replied to the wrong topic. Not for sale, just fitted to my car!
-
Now just the wheels, £150. Open to offers
-
Wheels only now. £150. Will get some more pics shortly

So the answer is to put up with it? Yes, it sits correctly, no issues winding it back and forth with the allen key, its smooth and no notches or grinding noises.
