I have a tiny nick in my top hose, noticed it when under the bonnet at the weekend. Want to get a new one before it splits. I've found it to be part #191121101AC, but no where seems to have it! Any ideas where to get them? Also, whats the best practice, just drain down, change part and put new fluid in? Need a flush?

Is there any switched power under the bonnet?

No one I talked to knew about the excite wire, next time I'll be on the ball! I literally tried every reading apart from the excite wire, even if I did, I'd not know I needed a reading.

After fixing my problem I have 2 alternators left over. I purchased one 2nd hand an the other brad new. Turns out my original works fine! 2nd hand one I bought working but havnt tested it. Comes with pulley, about 1 1/2 inches from body. New one is 2 weeks old and work, I've tested it. It's not got the pully attached, but I can provide it, its the pulley closer to the body, about 1/2 inch. Will get photos up soon.

Indeed it does. Don't want the alternator back do you?

So thats 6amps, I'll fix a 5amp fuse to the cable as well, just to be safe. Thanks for all of your help! I'm finally driving it again.

So to build a cable up, so I can get the car places, what diode and fuse would I use? A guy at work doesnt see why we'd need a diode... ETA: What fuse does it use in the fuse box, fuse number? I havn't replaced them all, it might be a simple replace the fuse job.

Interesting. I was sure the light on meant it was not charging... Anyway, I get voltage between the blue cable (tickle as you're calling it) and the fuse box, so its getting something. Worth wiring up a 12v battery to it?! to ensure its getting charge?

Used to, cabled still in boot.

I'd love to know how to disable it! My alarm key looks like a scorpion alarm sa30 fob, but can't find a manual. I suppose, as its an alarm I need to get to the main box and disconnect it?

I've bypassed the earth by taking the negative to the body of the alternator. I've also taken reading from the output on the alt to the earth and its the same. Its not a cable/connection issue, it seems as something is draining charge. I also took each fuse out one by one and the output didn't change.

I think it comes on, then goes off once started. I've only ever seen it flash when giving it a few beans.
-
Sorry, blue. The blue one on the alternator to f/3
-
I got 10v from the black cable to f/3.

Where the hell is that? I only know where the fuse box is, looks nothing like that. Whats the block that connects to the cluster? Can't see any pin 16's at all.
-
Going to try these fuses first, if not, it'll go to a specialist. ---------- Post added at 11:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ---------- David, any more info would be great. Sounds like a good test to do. I'd rather not pay someone, hence why I just got a new alternator. I imagine I'll spend hundred and still not have an answer!

Brand new alternator fitted, still not charging. Going to start pulling fuses. Any other ideas?

There is a scrappie down the road selling one for £20... I cannot find, on ebay, GSF, ECP, any that look the same as mine. They all have internal fans or different casing. I'm worried if I buy one, it'll be a different size.
-
Are we talking a tiny difference, as the one in that picture looks identical to mine, a lot more that the images on GSF etc.
-
This is the car its off. RW1, I can't see it unless I buy it. Its from a scrappy and the part is not located at the office I'll be buying it from. Seems as though its not the right way to go anyway.

Will this work? Downsides? I think the Scricco alt is only 65 amps ,versus the 90 from my current one.
