    MPG

I think the best I ever got was about 35mpg, but I prob free wheeled a lot
  5. Check flexi hoses incase theyve become perished or buldged.
  6. Always a chance they didnt balance the wheels properly.
  7. Definately a pick up, no vans or drop side based ones either. Them VW Taro's would do the job but seems like theyre very hard to find. Again though, not finding much info on mpg?
  8. Is there any pick up's that would give you 35+ mpg ? They all seem fairly heavy on the fuel which is to be expected I suppose. In addition to reliability, mpg is also a must factor!
  9. I am considering buying a 2nd hand pick up truck. I havent looked into it too much yet but I know im not wanting to spend more than £3000. Whats your opinions. Which makes should I consider and which should I avoid? Reliability is the most important factor to me.
  10. I had this problem about 5 years ago. Was indeed the wishbone bushings.

  12. Sam, didn't have time to take the mirror off for you. Good luck finding one elsewhere.
  13. Sold for £10,000 pounds. Turned out it was a classic & I didn't know it On her way to the scrappers tomorrow
  14. What would a 1982 VW POLO GL 1.3L be worth? It's not in good shape but someones bound to be interested in it as a restoration project. Body work is solid albeit quite a few bits of what seems like surface rust. I'm gonna be advertising it soon but before I do what would you reckon a POLO GL of that year would be worth? £100 - £200 ? Thoughts please :help: It's the 2 door estate model.
  15. Looks good with them colour coded too, just as another option.
  16. Cheers guys. :notworthy: Hopefully she'll get through the MOT this year without having to do anything, but i'll take your advice and change to MK4 calipers and change the cable too within the next year.
  17. Carrier bolts and rubber boots all ok, but you might have a point about the cable. I suppose it would stretch over time or what ???
  18. The last couple of years I have just scraped through the MOT on the parking brake not being very good. Despite taking it to my local garage last year and having them tighten it up as much as it would go (with the cable adjusters on the rear brakes) it still wasn't very tight, but it passed the MOT anyway. (To pass MOT they must be 16% or greater - mine was 18%) Just to give you an example......In most cars if you let them roll a little bit and then quickly pull on the handbrake the car would stop quite sharply and you'd feel the back going. If you do it in my Corrado it just comes to a slow stop. Also the rear brake discs & pads were changed not so long ago so what is the problem?? :brickwall:
  19. Although taking the starter out is no bother, putting it back in can be a pain if you dont realise that the engine may drop down a little bit when you take the 2 bolts out. Jack the engine up a bit if that happens.
  20. Yep easy to fit. Just carefully use a screwdriver to pry the old ones out. About 100 quid from VAG.
  21. What about a careful blast with the pressure washer before using the oil cleaners.
  22. If it was your starter needing reonditoned it would make strange noises I'd think. Like a whirring/whizzing noise. When it happens how many turns of the key does it take to finally fire the engine up?
